Welding Stainless Steel Without Trimix On 110/220 V ...........

- Watch me weld 304 base material with (4) different types of 308 filler wire provided by Blue Demon. I'm using a Fronius TransSteel 2200 and TransSteel 2700 for all the weling. Check out the ways of saving money on expensive TRIMIX gas with alternatives which your gas supplier can provide. As always, thanks for watching :)

Nice one. The more content on the 2200 the better, it has brought my mig game to a level that I never thought possible.
Arc Angel Awesome 👊 Thanks for watching.
No one seems to test stick on the 2200, but there are situations you would use stick, like 6010 on unprepared materials.
You blew your settings with the 308LFC-O. That wire runs DCEP, and you switched to DCEN to run it. Switch the polarity and you will find it welds much cleaner. Also bear in mind the Blue Demon recommends 22-25V and 130-150A setting range on your machine.
Glad someone else saw and mentioned this.
And I guess nobody told you your lungs can collapse from helium inhalation. But you’re all about the jokes.
Thanks for watching
Awesome video.
We purchased the Transteel 2200 but we haven't spent a lot of time learning it. Your ss bead profile & color is on the money! I haven't done a whole lot of ss mig. When we did the welds always came out dull using a tri-mix. We don't have access to a variety of gas blends from our local suppliers. We just purchased a Miller gas mixer & we'll definitely try the 98/2% blend.
I will definitely stay tuned to your channel!💎💰💳🪙
Kevin, thanks for watching. I would love to make more MIG content on stainless. The gold standard is Tri-Mix but most people don’t know about 98/2. Shoot me an email and I’ll get some swag sent out to you. Bliven.christopher@fronius.com
Interesting info
great video and information, you mentioned 409 with not much nickel,
specs say max is .5%....yep, that makes it a lot cheaper.....
thanks for a great video, Paul in Florida
Paul, I hope all is well. Thanks for watching
@@chris_b_liven things are going great, doing some videos for weld com and a few of my own....hope you can watch a 42 second one....ruclips.net/video/EcGqXh-pQXg/видео.html
Nice video
I appreciate it !!!! 💯
E308LFC Flux core wire voltage range recommended is 24 to 31 volts. Wondering why you chose 16 volts ?
If I'm not mistaken with the flux core stainless you are supposed to run dcep
Jacob Hodge Correct....
@@chris_b_liven was the video where demoing the flux core have the polarity wrong, i think he had the gun attached to the negative? see 10:39
New to welding, have a diy project that will need welding on ss kegs. But will also have some cs exhaust piping welding as well. Low budget, any recommendations on what gas I should get for the mig I'll be using? Only have one tank and would like to avoid multiple trips to change gases.
Sean, Sorry about the late response. You could get a spool of self shielded stainless steel from Blue Demon. You wouldn’t need gas for it. This would be the cheapest solution - 2nd could be gas fluxcored wire with 100% CO2. The 100% CO2 could be used for both steel and stainless
So can you run normal 308L with 75/25? I am trying to butt-weld stainless steel exhaust with 75/25 and (I think) 308L wire and I am not getting the results I would like to have. I'm using a Yeswelder 205DS multiprocess on 220v....
Sorry for the delay. Yes, you can use 75/25 but it will burn most of the chromium out of the material. I suggest using a 308 stainless flux cored wire. If your not worried about long term rust then use the 75/25
I've got so many questions that I don't know where to start
Let me know. Thanks for watching
I just picked up a Transsteel 2200. I've got a bottle of 100% Argon for TIG, but I'm not sure I can find Ar + 2-5% CO2 at my local supply. Does anyone have experience running 100% CO2 in MIG on mild steel?
Who do you buy your local gas from ? Yes, the C02 option is really good for 3/16 and below.
Where my location is Superior Welding Supply. Can get me trimix same price as argon co2. 90 helium, 8 argon and 2 oxygen/co2. I will prolly do oxygen cuz it helps a bit more with toeing and allows for short circuit welding to be a bit more consistent
Thanks for sharing 👊
I was wondering what respirator you were using in the video. I’m trying to find a respirator that’s low profile to fit under my welding helmet.

I’m not sure if it’s made for chrome zirconium so make sure to double check
Thanks man, I really appreciate you going over settings and experimenting. You ever try aluminum with 98/2?
Hey and also, if I didn't know better, I'd say you swapped out the helium for nitrous in the end......just sayin'.....
Tommy T I haven’t tried welding aluminum with 98/2 but it’s worth a try. I’ve seen companies welding with 100% Argon on stainless
@@chris_b_liven yea I had an Esab 160 and tried trimix. Hated it. Didn't like the welder much either.
My dad ran 98/2 on his mobile setup (Trailblazer w/spoolgun). From what I remember he used it for both aluminum and mild steel.
Tommy T Nice... I’ll have to try it when I get a chance just to see
@@chris_b_liven that’s what I use 100 argon but I’m running tig not mig
What would your wire feed speed and amps be for 18 gauge stainless using 98/2 and 308 LSI wire
Sorry wire feed and Volts
What size wire makes a difference. What size wire?
.035
Also 308 ls .035
Let’s do it 💯💪🇺🇸👍
Let’s go 💯👊
Lmao this is awesome
Thanks for watching
Didn't you get sugaring on the back side ?
If it burned through then yes. Most of the weld joints and thickness didn’t burn through with the settings
It completely different then a aluminum. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Yes. I like dual shield stainless wire best
