    I bought the Beachunter at the beginning of September. Its a great machine. I use it mostly at the beach, i've found gold, silver and dug some very very deep holes. It works just aswel on soil with good results.

    Good video. Good information. That looked like a very calm salt water area you were metal detecting in.

    Very interesting test. Thanks for putting this info up. If you get out again on wet sand it would be very cool if you could mark some targets and see how the response between GB and no GB varies. One of White's big selling points on this machine is it's ability to differentiate between low and high conductors.

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  6 лет назад +3

      I can tell you right now the response is stronger with the ground balance off. What you saw in the video with the air test is the same you're going to see with buried Targets in wet saltwater sand. And in my opinion the Hi-Lo separation is a gimmick. Many gold rings will read as high conductors and the last thing you want to do is pass these up! All the medium two smaller gold will give you a high tone but School rings and men's wedding bands can easily give you a low tone as you saw in the video. With the ground balance off you go deeper and everything sounds the same.

      Understood. I was just curious if the hi/lo was useful. Thanks for the reply and I look forward to seeing more of you and the machine in action.

    just sold a bunch of my gold finds and picked 1 up TDIpro no doubt deeper but gotta love being waterproof ,i will be getting a reidman 14.8 v pack he is making now for the beachhunter will give it a little more punch depth wise

    Thanks for the video Carter, I've asked a few how it did in saltwater. Your the first to give me just what I was looking for. Thanks for capturing the audio of the detector also. There is a battery mod that is said to add a few inch's and come closer to the TDI Pro's performance. Worth the effort...Thanks for sharing. Joe Beechnut..OBN

      Hi Joe, please let me know about that battery mod you're talking about. I would like to go back out there and do a test comparing the two. Thanks

      Check with Garrett Electronics, looking online it appears they will provide service for Whites metal detectors

    The PI dualfield is a beast from hell, but its way too susceptible to moisture ingress, and failure. I've had 3, all useless now. I'm more interested in the TDI now, need to find 1.

    Hi, I'm thinking to get an Equinox 800, I saw a few of your videos, and I have just one question, In land How deep can it detect? I read that It can reach 3 meters, is that true?

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  6 лет назад

      It depends what you trying to detect. For coins and rings you're generally looking up to about a foot.

    Hi great video !
    I’m in the uk .
    The beach I hunt has big iron on it . With the gb off is there a way to distinguish this ? Would it show as iron if I clicked the things just on ?
    I have been running with the gb just clicked on for the two tones, but now feel I am losing depth on the items you tested
    Thanks

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  5 лет назад

      You are losing a little bit of depth with the GB on but if there is a lot of iron you probably want the two-tone capability. I would just give it time and try it with and without the GB on to see how it works for you

  • @detector1867

    Would you reccomend the garret at max or is there another metal detector around the same price range

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  6 лет назад

      The ATM is a good detector for land and fresh water but not the best for salt water. Look at videos to see which detectors work best in salt water. Nokta and Minelab make detectors in the same price range that work well in salt water.

    I'm new with tdi beach hunter .I'm trying to go GB off but and the rest of the settings like on the video but wen I swing the coil I get false signal .what I have to do to get rid off that false signal .thank you

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  4 года назад +1

      The detector is always trying to retune itself. Keep the coil level with the wet sand and you should be fine. If you don't like the retuning, run it with GB on.

    Hi Carter, Great review! Question, On average how much more depth do you think the TDI can push down comparing to air test to saltwater environment.

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  6 лет назад

      If I'm air testing a ring at 12in, in the wet saltwater sand I'm guessing I could hear it at 14 in or more.

  • @240x9
    @240x9 5 лет назад

    I have a tdi sl and a d.f surf PI, but I have been looking at the equinox 800. have you done any comparisons?

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  5 лет назад +1

      Major difference between the machines. The two you have do not discriminate and are pulse circuitry so they work very well in saltwater. The Equinox also works in saltwater but does not have the depth but the plus side is it will discriminate out trash. I use the equinox around old dock sites and I use the pi detectors when there is not much iron trash

    • @240x9
      @240x9 5 лет назад

      Thanx for the honest and knowledgeable response.

    • @240x9
      @240x9 5 лет назад

      And one more....What about a hunted out beach with little trash. I keep hearing how the equinox excels in hunted out areas. probably a redundant question.

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  5 лет назад +1

      @@240x9 if you're going to a relatively cleaned out Beach area with little trash you definitely want to use your Pi machine over an equinox. The Equinox does go deep but does not get the depth of a pi machine. The only drawback is you will dig everything with your pi . good luck

  • @Unclebub34
    @Unclebub34 6 лет назад

    How does it do with iron? Can you tell the difference with a good target and an iron target easily?

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  6 лет назад +1

      You're going to hear the iron with this machine but there is a difference between a coin size / ring size object and bobby pin. A good Target like a ring or a coin is a very solid even hit where small iron is a little more shaky

  • @rickpierson2586

    As a comment for you, fresh air tests are pointless. In salt water, is the only gauge. If you feel you have a deep signal in SW, don't dig it, adjust controls to make it more pronounced. In most cases, no delay is necessary.
