    What a joke .. the only good thing that was positive and true about this video is that Whiteside is a great school ! Crime is horrible everywhere and getting worse dusty, expensive and nothing to do. The cartels are here and there are constant gang crimes and drugs. I lived in the best safest neighborhood in Lubbock and ended up getting shot and disabled because of a gang! They are struggling to keep enough police to protect and serve. Expensive water cost, rent, and house prices!

    since i'm from california i love the dry climate because i was dreading having to move somewhere affordable that was very humid. i love the summer thunderstorms and crazy lightning we get once in a while, and i love that we get just enough snow to enjoy (1-2 snows in the winter seems normal) without it being burdensome. i didn't grow up in the snow so i love that. i even like the wind. i personally think the only negative about the weather is the dust that gets blown around. also, i have to make a comment about the trash. some of it is because of the wind, but i have to admit that i've never been to a place where people litter more than here. i wish people wouldn't do that.

    Coming here from Houston, I just want to say that I love how we virtually have no traffic. With that being said, yall's driving is questionable. Please do everything faster. Merging onto the highway, changing lanes, and letting someone in or not are all things that need to be done quickly, not slowly. I fear for my life every time I get onto 289 from Quaker and there's 4 cars doing 50mph up the onramp while Chad in his F350 is going 90 in the right lane. Speed doesn't kill, the rapid change in speed does!

    It really depends where you are moving from whether you'll like it or not. If you are moving from a city or area that had a lot of things, you might not adapt well in Lubbock. The biggest peeve I have about Lubbock is the lack of healthy eats. There's a reason there are pharmacies and doctor offices on every corner.

    • @twistedspine7300
      @twistedspine7300 7 месяцев назад +2

      i really don't think a healthy lifestyle has much to do with public restaurant options. barbecue in and of itself is not unhealthy if you aren't smothering the meat with sauces. you could eat bbq every day and maintain or lose weight if you stuck to the beef and chicken and just avoided the baked potato casserole and beer. a healthy lifestyle really only happens at home where you have much more control over the food intake and choices.

    • @mommabear5059
      @mommabear5059 2 месяца назад

      Totally agree. Would love some more healthy restaurant options.

    • @ILG-em9ui
      @ILG-em9ui 2 месяца назад

      If people demanded healthier food menus, it would happen. Sadly, folks out here demand fried foods, sugary foods and drinks, and balk at salads. I've seen it. People see veggies chopped up and ask, "What's that!?" "Just a tiny bit of veggies." Where I come from, the demand for healthier food has led to better menu choices.

    • @TheDistingueOne
      @TheDistingueOne 2 месяца назад +1

      It would also be nice if healthier foods were not twice the cost of unhealthy foods. It has always irritated me that eating healthy costs so much more.

    I’ve been confused about what people mean by dust and dirt, because on our recent trip to Lubbock I was stunned at how clean everything was. It only just dawned on me that what I thought was dust here in SoCal is really just smog. Everything has a coating of sticky black soot, probably mixed with dust as well. I’d like to see what dust is like without the grime. 😅

    I dont know how popular of an opinion this will be, but me and my family live in Tech Terrance area. We love it. There tend to be a lot of loud parties at times being that we are so close to Tech, but its got an atmosphere that ive not found in any other neighborhood in Lubbock. I miss the special Christmas activities that were here pre Covid like horse drawn carriage rides, nice celebration near what is now food king and the coffee shop...some ofvthe other shops would have family activities and hot cocoa with smores...so miss that. I love being able to walk a short distance for groceries or restaurants or health care. I just fell in love with the neighborhood and have no plan to move. Raised my daughter here and walking distance to two of her schools til shr went to Lubbock high. ❤

    F Lubbock. Worst weather in the country, it's really really boring and isolated and the people are closed-minded and there's nothing to do. And that was before I lived in Rio. Lol. Now..... If those people only knew what they were missing they would never ever ever ever stay there. And then I'm told, well at least it's affordable. I'm paying a third of what I'm paid when I live there and I'm having the time of my life and I can afford to eat out for just about every meal and I have personal chef and someone who cleans for me and I can get my massages twice a week and the most beautiful women on the planet for $2,500 a month

      crime is relative to where you are in town. East and southeast have disproportionate rate due to income disparity to the west and southwest side and because of dominant rental vs home ownership. most of the more major crimes are not randomly committed; suspects and victims have some sort of relationship that causes the crime.

    Lived here all my life and would not live anywhere else. I have visited lots of places much larger than Lubbock and while they may have more to do in those larger areas, the people are just no where near as friendly. I hate the traffic in larger cities and Lubbock traffic is not bad at all. Every place has bad drivers so you will always run into that. If you are single and young, not going to college, I hear it is not great but, I don't think the city advertises itself for that demographic really. If you attend college, I have heard it is great and It is great for young/older families. The cost of living is just about unbeatable. It is really dry and the dirt blows from time to time but, usually only from late fall to late winter and if is rare we have full on dust storms. Summers are not windy though, and are hot/dry. Luckily we have gotten quite a bit of rain this year. Plenty of restaurants, places to see a movie, play golf, take kids to for a family day. If you are into the outdoor life, Palo Duro is about 80 miles or so north and the mountains are just a few hours away to the west. Not a bad place to live at all.
