Interesting color combination, bluegills like variation, and after 50 years of tying bluegill flies in numerous ways. I always use about 10 to 15 patterns and colors that just seem to always work. Big slabs can be picky, and that's why we keep tying new color patterns and combinations.
At 73, I mostly just use my
    K.I.S.S. method fo tying
    Keep, it simple stupid.
Robert, I always love watching your new creations!
    Tie one on for me!

    Have a blessed day.

Bob, yea, trying different combinations is always fun. You never know what is gonna set them off. Its great when you hit on a random combination that works. Thanks

You will definitely make the bluegill excited with those flies in the spring. But i would still love to see you and your brother catch trout on those size 24 beautiful flies. I would be epic to watch. Be blessed. My friend.

Good question. I thought it would show through, but it did not. I tied one later with only one strand of straggle string and the red showed through, which was my intent. Live and learn. Thanks.
