Horizon Zero Dawn is amazing. The graphics in 4K hdr is the best I’ve ever seen. Amazing story, characters, gameplay everything. Definitely the best open world game ever.

I've been watching that too and it's incredible. They talk about so much stuff that you dont get from just playing the game like behind the scenes stuff and them just talking. Their channel has probably become one of my favorites here recently. Those 2 make for great videos
Took advantage of this to FINALLY play Uncharted 4. Even took Rob's advice to play it the first time on a lower difficulty so I could just ENJOY THE GAME!

Sorry for the rant, i am a big MGS fan & SPOILERS BY THE WAY since you're playing.I dunno how far you've gotten so read at your peril. I agree, it's one of the most disappointing games i've ever played. Mainly because they delivered on the basis of open ended gameplay & systems, it was incredible to play. It's the most i've ever put into a game - about 120hrs. I never finished it. it broke me. I agree with Krise, the systems & quick fire gameplay- 5/10 minute missions were great to keep you engaged, even though they were repetitive. SPOILERS. What crushed me though was that they forgot that story was just as important, even more so in Phantom Pain, a reason to keep going with an open world game - where i eventually noticed you had ZERO impact on this world. Even Far Cry games at least show you the consequences of your actions - in MGS V, it doesn't matter how many bases i successfully infiltrate like a badass, they were reset for the next mission. Recruit soldiers for Mother Base? What a joke that was, you couldn't even call on them for help, there was just the dog. SPOILERS And don't even get me started on the story, i'll go nuts. Main question for me though is, Why get an actor as good as Keifer Sutherland, who i love btw & completely waste the guys talent? I know why he portrayed the character Snake as such, i got far enough to see the "true ending". What a joke. Snake has zero personality in this game, and i cant fathom why Kojima had an actor play snake at all in the first place, he didn't speak. It wasn't a Metal Gear Solid game & one fans deserved. I've been wanting to get that off my chest. If they ever did a "biggest disappointments ever" list, this would top it for me.
@@hannayman4448 agree with you there. It's as if they made the gameplay mechanics, put some key story elements and dialogue down and then rushed to get it released. This is my 3rd time playing it through and the only thing bringing me back is the gameplay and Metal Gear Stupid. This was my first MG game, so now that i've seen the rest of them, mgsv really pales in comparison in everything but the gameplay and a few relatively minor things.

I feel Uncharted 4 is the true pinnacle of all the Uncharted games. I played them all, and each have their own sequence or favorite part... but in a Thief's End.... oh man its just a culminations of different scenarios and adventure that I have to pick as my favorite uncharted...
I platinumed Shadow of Mordor xD and i agree with everything she says about it. Edit : I actually repeat games like Dave if ivent played them in a long while. (3 times for witcher 3 and horizon as well)
Sekiro Elite I played Shadow of Mordor on Xbox and now again on PS4 (Free on PlayStation Now). Is it worth Platinum? I have only Platinum-ed Final Fantasy XV (Just the base game not the add ons) and Spyro Reignited (Just the first one.)
TJ Thomas Personally after any platinum, i feel theres nothing more left in the game. So if you want to enjoy the game time and time again id say the platinum aint worth it from my perspective. When i decided to go for the platinum i actually only needed few more trophies for it because i was so much in love with the whole game i finished 80% of trophies already. But Shadow of Mordor was my first platinum and i regret that i exchanged it for another game without completing the dlc so looking forward to Shadow of War soon. Also going for the last sekiro trophy right now,i.e, all skills one. Dave, you should know your MGS3 series with Nath has inspired me to also play MGSV. I enjoyed the other MGS games, but I had no idea I would enjoy The Phantom Pain as much as I do. It is easily in my top 3 games of the generation. The choices it gives the player are too numerous to count. From which weapons and equipment you want to deploy with, how you will go about achieving your mission objectives, to the time of day you want to deploy and begin the mission, and so many other things. My favorite part has to be the fact that all the best moments of the game are unscripted. They all come about from the gameplay choices you make. I would imagine your experience has been notably different from mine, and we both likely have our own unique stories about the game. And how about the depth of the weapons and equipment system? Or Mother Base development? I can spend an hour just going through the menus and managing my private army. And the longer I play it, the better the gameplay gets! After you've made an impression for long enough, enemy soldiers start utilizing snipers nests to try and spot Snake, or they are issued better equipment like night vision goggles which somewhat suppresses the advantage of carrying out a major infiltration at night. Basically the gameplay is kept from getting too static. Once you think you have everything figured out, the situation escalates and you have to learn to deal with new kinds of threats. Not only does this affect your loadout choices but it changes the way you have to think and plan each move. Obviously I could go on and on about how good MGSV is, specifically The Phantom Pain. I picked it up nearly 2 years ago on PS Plus and I'm only now finally getting around to playing it. I can't believe I waited so long! I was up playing it the other day until 1:30am, despite the fact I knew that our infant son was going to wake me up at least twice more during the night after that. I was so immersed in a particular rescue mission that time seemed to lose all meaning. I cannot wait to play more.

Good point about Aloy not being a dumb cavewoman. I really liked that about the game. My favorite line of hers is when Sylens attempts to insult her intelligence by assuming she thinks the world is flat and she responds by saying that's common knowledge based on the shadow the Earth casts on the moon. That was a great comeback by the witty main character.
Uncharted 4 is the best for me with 2 and 3 tied. The original hasn't aged all that well IMO. Need to get round to playing Lost Legacy at some point but I'm currently deep into The Witcher 3 so that may be a ways off...
Who captured the footage for shadow of mordor? They literally never did a counter despite the screen prompt for triangle flashing, they also never used a power up (circle then square repeatedly) and most of all they didn't even use an insta-kill despite the sword being glowing and ready for it (circle + triangle)
Coincidently, I have recently started horizon zero dawn, after repeatedly hearing how good it is. Anyways, I just put it off for ever, but now that I have started it, I feel it is worth all the accolade. In short, I should have started earlier!

What Nathan said is very true, the story of Horizon Zero Dawn is just absolutely gripping. But like Dave I put it down and haven't picked it up in some months. I am as bad as Rob with my back-log. I showed my wife this video someone had made of and mixed gameplay and cut-scenes. The damn thing was over 6 hours long. My wife sat and watched it from start to finish. She knows more about the game than I do and she doesn't even play video games!
Forgetting is never an excuse no matter what. You can remember to write reminders on a piece of paper or on phone. Forgetting is a bad habit and can cause you to get into trouble so be considerate and open well minded in whatever you do. If you forget something that is your fault and is your responsibility to think about your actions for next time us humans need to learn that we're not here because of simple instructions to be told and think that your doing the right thing but rather be more specific and careful in ways we don't get into same trouble as well
MGS V just didn’t drawn me in. I never played 4, and for me, 1-3 are great games. For me, it’s a drab open world, and the absence of David Hayter was enough to have me take it off my hard drive.
Yeah the entire map was empty and forgettable, story was convoluted nonsense and those stupid helicopter rides which were really just poorly disguised loading screens
To this day, Horizon Zero Dawn is the one game I played both on normal on new game plus mode and play the DLC and was my first platinum. My favorite PlayStation Game ever! If I hear the sequel is coming exclusively to PS5, then I will personally buy one just for that game.

I do the same thing Dave says he does, I don’t like to jump back into the middle of a game after not touching it for months, I restart from the beginning to get the full immersive effect of the story

I totally relate to Dave when it comes to big games. I do the same. That's the reason why I haven't finished The Witcher 3, because there are so many commands for specific items that when the break is too long I forget all about those. And the story is massive so I forget details.
Yes... Metal Gear V, Shadow of Mordor & Uncharted... All good... Love stealth and if you mess up fight your way out . Love Shadow of Mordor powers ... Especially possession of orcs ...etc. .. and so many fun things in MGV...

The Boderlands series on ps4. 1, presequel, and 2. No excuses. So much fun. Along with recent games I've been playing them. Finished the other 2 now on #2. Great prices. I'll find myself saying "ohhh i could have done so much better" lol... I do it alot with hack and slashes... I did it with Doom 2016, finding every nook and secret....GOW 3 and the sort lol....

Some great choices here! Especially psyched to hear mention of MGSV and Shadow of Mordor! I kinda did what Dave did and started the game again after a break because I was missing all the bits of dialogue and events that only happen at the early game (Like D-Dog growing up). I'm not usually one for hack and slash but, as a Tolkien nerd, SoM really got me hooked. As well as feeling like actually being in Middle-earth, I have to admit, it was quite cathartic hewing down waves of Orcs as an enchante Wraith/Ranger!
I actually bought a second hand copy of Shadow Of Mordor today, plus it happens to be the GOTY edition. I've played for about 20 minutes and I'm completely hooked already. Think I'm gonna go for the Platinum on this one.
I do the same thing as Dave.. if i take a break from a game i always restart it when i come back to it. I will say though... if you do it more than a couple times it can really cause you to not enjoy the game as much.

After playing God of War last year, I remember being thoroughly blown away by it and I thought it was the best game of the generation by FAR! I was looking for another game to purchase and play on the PS store but inside I was feeling like nothing is going to even come close how awesome GoW was. I saw Horizon Zero Dawn: GotY edition on sale so I bought it. What...a....Masterpiece! Probably the greatest 2 games I've played back to back in my life. I thought it was right on par with GoW and HZD is definitely right up there as one of the greatest games of this gen.
I miss the Playstation Platinum range looked way better than a boring red strip! And wow Elle really does look incredible! I envy her husband lol lucky guy indeed. :D
Nioh and berseria is a must play Nioh if you want a fast paced dark souls has a fun combat system game concept is really cool with a neat multiplayer. Berseria if you love tales of games and enjoy tales of zestiria. characters are loveable and art style is gorgeous

Ultimately I didn't watch anyone play Horizon Zero Dawn despite my desire because the more I heard, the more it felt like to much emotion. It sounded so amazing in terms of ideas and maybe if it was a book, I'd have had a go. But it's been proven to me by Nate there, that I'm just glad it exists.
The one thing I didn't like about the Uncharted series is retconing that Nathan has a brother. The first 3 games Nathan and Sully. Then all of a sudden Sam Drake is a thing. How and when did Sam come in to play. Where was Sam when Sully took Nathan on his adventures? Sam as an after thought still bugs me.

I started horizon zero dawn to early before the surround sound audio was fixed. Before all you would hear was the robot sounds then you had to look around to find out where it came from. Might go back and finish it
Was recently in Florida and picked up Uncharted 1-4 remastered and God of War for $40 in Best Buy. Have only played uncharted 1 & 2 and it was already worth the money
I like how Dave has been coming around to Metal Gear Solid more. I really enjoyed MGSV for what it was, and it kinda sucks that it was never completed but I thought it was neat, it was almost like a supplementary game which was enjoyable on it's own, but if you'd played the rest of the series it provided a couple of answers as to some characters origins or what happened to certain characters from Snake Eater and Peace Walker and the like.
HZD is a huge surprise for me! I didn't know much about it, I thought that it was an action game similar to Lost Planet or something. It’s so much better than I thought it was going to be. 👍
Just got the chance to play through Horizon ZD and damn i didn't realize when i first tried it how amazing this game is. Like Nate said the sounds themselves add so much to the game. But ya game def deserves atleast 9 out a 10.

I don't platinum many games but Horizon Zero Dawn was one of them, awesome game.
I’m gonna go ahead and add the Mass Effect trilogy. Andromeda is also fun but the original series is a must play.
So few games could ever compare to Uncharted.

i completely agree but recently i have been playing the tomb raider reboots and there are parts that could definitely rival uncharted they are also very impressive games

I disagree. I don't like one-and-done games like Uncharted. I prefer my games to have lots of worthwhile replay value.
Always found the uncharted series to be so overrated. Flimsy controls and hand held all the way.

Dave, you should know your MGS3 series with Nath has inspired me to also play MGSV. I enjoyed the other MGS games, but I had no idea I would enjoy The Phantom Pain as much as I do. It is easily in my top 3 games of the generation.
The choices it gives the player are too numerous to count. From which weapons and equipment you want to deploy with, how you will go about achieving your mission objectives, to the time of day you want to deploy and begin the mission, and so many other things.
My favorite part has to be the fact that all the best moments of the game are unscripted. They all come about from the gameplay choices you make. I would imagine your experience has been notably different from mine, and we both likely have our own unique stories about the game.
And how about the depth of the weapons and equipment system? Or Mother Base development? I can spend an hour just going through the menus and managing my private army.
And the longer I play it, the better the gameplay gets! After you've made an impression for long enough, enemy soldiers start utilizing snipers nests to try and spot Snake, or they are issued better equipment like night vision goggles which somewhat suppresses the advantage of carrying out a major infiltration at night. Basically the gameplay is kept from getting too static. Once you think you have everything figured out, the situation escalates and you have to learn to deal with new kinds of threats. Not only does this affect your loadout choices but it changes the way you have to think and plan each move.
Obviously I could go on and on about how good MGSV is, specifically The Phantom Pain. I picked it up nearly 2 years ago on PS Plus and I'm only now finally getting around to playing it. I can't believe I waited so long!
I was up playing it the other day until 1:30am, despite the fact I knew that our infant son was going to wake me up at least twice more during the night after that. I was so immersed in a particular rescue mission that time seemed to lose all meaning.
I cannot wait to play more.

@@MitchellHammond I love diving in to the intricacies of WHY a game is fun to play. So often it comes down to allowing the player to make plans and meaningful choices, not just giving the player "cool stuff to do"

Good point about Aloy not being a dumb cavewoman. I really liked that about the game. My favorite line of hers is when Sylens attempts to insult her intelligence by assuming she thinks the world is flat and she responds by saying that's common knowledge based on the shadow the Earth casts on the moon. That was a great comeback by the witty main character.

I'm with Dave. If you've left a game for months you have to restart because you'be forgotten the plot, the mechanics, what you're doing etc etc
It has to be at least a year for me.
Uncharted 4 is the best for me with 2 and 3 tied. The original hasn't aged all that well IMO. Need to get round to playing Lost Legacy at some point but I'm currently deep into The Witcher 3 so that may be a ways off...
Who captured the footage for shadow of mordor? They literally never did a counter despite the screen prompt for triangle flashing, they also never used a power up (circle then square repeatedly) and most of all they didn't even use an insta-kill despite the sword being glowing and ready for it (circle + triangle)
Coincidently, I have recently started horizon zero dawn, after repeatedly hearing how good it is. Anyways, I just put it off for ever, but now that I have started it, I feel it is worth all the accolade. In short, I should have started earlier!

What Nathan said is very true, the story of Horizon Zero Dawn is just absolutely gripping. But like Dave I put it down and haven't picked it up in some months. I am as bad as Rob with my back-log.
I showed my wife this video someone had made of and mixed gameplay and cut-scenes. The damn thing was over 6 hours long. My wife sat and watched it from start to finish. She knows more about the game than I do and she doesn't even play video games!
Yes, I can totally relate to Dave! I have stopped and restarted countless games for that exact reason, including MGSV too.
Forgetting is never an excuse no matter what. You can remember to write reminders on a piece of paper or on phone. Forgetting is a bad habit and can cause you to get into trouble so be considerate and open well minded in whatever you do. If you forget something that is your fault and is your responsibility to think about your actions for next time us humans need to learn that we're not here because of simple instructions to be told and think that your doing the right thing but rather be more specific and careful in ways we don't get into same trouble as well
MGS V just didn’t drawn me in. I never played 4, and for me, 1-3 are great games. For me, it’s a drab open world, and the absence of David Hayter was enough to have me take it off my hard drive.

Yeah the entire map was empty and forgettable, story was convoluted nonsense and those stupid helicopter rides which were really just poorly disguised loading screens
Lucky me, i never throw away my ps3 because of nostalgia and it's a retro machine, and the last game of ps plus in ps3 was mgs4.

MGS5 was slightly disappointing thou come on. 3 is my fave. Why haven’t they remastered 4? And ground up make 1!!!
Konami probably lost the source code for 4 we don't want another silent hills remaster I heard that was a disaster.

To this day, Horizon Zero Dawn is the one game I played both on normal on new game plus mode and play the DLC and was my first platinum. My favorite PlayStation Game ever! If I hear the sequel is coming exclusively to PS5, then I will personally buy one just for that game.
I think you can bank on there being a Horizon 2 coming out on the PS5. It sold really well and was an amazing game.

Dave, I completely understand what you mean when you say you play the same 20 hours over and over. I am exactly the same... I want to get 100% into the story. Its like when people watch films that are on TV and don't watch them from the beginning!?
I totally relate to Dave when it comes to big games. I do the same. That's the reason why I haven't finished The Witcher 3, because there are so many commands for specific items that when the break is too long I forget all about those. And the story is massive so I forget details.
Yes... Metal Gear V, Shadow of Mordor & Uncharted... All good... Love stealth and if you mess up fight your way out .

The Boderlands series on ps4. 1, presequel, and 2. No excuses. So much fun. Along with recent games I've been playing them. Finished the other 2 now on #2. Great prices. That shadow of mordor gameplay was really triggering. Building combo but not actually executing any orcs.

I've have that complex with strictly AAA titles I'm very hype for.. when i get my hands on it and i have to learn about it and get into the world of it all... I'll find myself saying "ohhh i could have done so much better" lol... I do it alot with hack and slashes... I did it with Doom 2016, finding every nook and secret....GOW 3 and the sort lol....

Some great choices here! Especially psyched to hear mention of MGSV and Shadow of Mordor! I kinda did what Dave did and started the game again after a break because I was missing all the bits of dialogue and events that only happen at the early game (Like D-Dog growing up). I'm not usually one for hack and slash but, as a Tolkien nerd, SoM really got me hooked. As well as feeling like actually being in Middle-earth, I have to admit, it was quite cathartic hewing down waves of Orcs as an enchante Wraith/Ranger!
I actually bought a second hand copy of Shadow Of Mordor today, plus it happens to be the GOTY edition. I've played for about 20 minutes and I'm completely hooked already. Think I'm gonna go for the Platinum on this one.
I love how enthusiastic these people get when talking about games. Makes me appreciate the games over the past years even more.
I do the same thing as Dave.. if i take a break from a game i always restart it when i come back to it.
I will say though... if you do it more than a couple times it can really cause you to not enjoy the game as much.

After playing God of War last year, I remember being thoroughly blown away by it and I thought it was the best game of the generation by FAR! I was looking for another game to purchase and play on the PS store but inside I was feeling like nothing is going to even come close how awesome GoW was. I saw Horizon Zero Dawn: GotY edition on sale so I bought it. What...a....Masterpiece! Probably the greatest 2 games I've played back to back in my life. I thought it was right on par with GoW and HZD is definitely right up there as one of the greatest games of this gen.
Wow... Elle is a gorgeous Lady that is a fan of LOTR and has an amazing appreciation of games! She is a miracle.
I miss the Playstation Platinum range looked way better than a boring red strip!

Nioh if you want a fast paced dark souls has a fun combat system game concept is really cool with a neat multiplayer. Berseria if you love tales of games and enjoy tales of zestiria. characters are loveable and art style is gorgeous

Then after everyone has played it, i restart it because I’d be clueless on everything & it wouldn’t sit well with me. I wouldn’t be 20 hours in tho lol maybe 10 or 15

Ultimately I didn't watch anyone play Horizon Zero Dawn despite my desire because the more I heard, the more it felt like to much emotion. It sounded so amazing in terms of ideas and maybe if it was a book, I'd have had a go. But it's been proven to me by Nate there, that I'm just glad it exists.

The one thing I didn't like about the Uncharted series is retconing that Nathan has a brother. The first 3 games Nathan and Sully. Then all of a sudden Sam Drake is a thing. How and when did Sam come in to play. Where was Sam when Sully took Nathan on his adventures? Sam as an after thought still bugs me.

I started horizon zero dawn to early before the surround sound audio was fixed. Before all you would hear was the robot sounds then you had to look around to find out where it came from. Might go back and finish it
Was recently in Florida and picked up Uncharted 1-4 remastered and God of War for $40 in Best Buy. Have only played uncharted 1 & 2 and it was already worth the money
I like how Dave has been coming around to Metal Gear Solid more.
I really enjoyed MGSV for what it was, and it kinda sucks that it was never completed but I thought it was neat, it was almost like a supplementary game which was enjoyable on it's own, but if you'd played the rest of the series it provided a couple of answers as to some characters origins or what happened to certain characters from Snake Eater and Peace Walker and the like.
Rosie is joy personified. I can't NOT smile when she's speaking.

HZD is a huge surprise for me! I didn't know much about it, I thought that it was an action game similar to Lost Planet or something. It’s so much better than I thought it was going to be. 👍
Just got the chance to play through Horizon ZD and damn i didn't realize when i first tried it how amazing this game is. Like Nate said the sounds themselves add so much to the game. But ya game def deserves atleast 9 out a 10.
