    I bought myself this very Flying Scotsman set (R1255) and I will receive it this Friday (22 January 2021) and I got some discount buying a second set so I bought the GWR Freight set as well (R1254). Already designed a layout with the two oval tracks and Track Pack A's that I will get with the two sets. This is my very first model railroad sets and I am VERY excited for it to arrive! Been watching your video a few times now to keep the excitement going and pass the time. It is quite expensive to have model railroading as a hobby in Namibia where I live but I have to start somewhere :)
    Thank you for the video and greetings from Namibia.

    Great video ...The Bachmann controller you used is a very good one but never sold/given away in the train sets in the UK the controller Bachmann give you there sets over here in the UK is crappy and cheep like the Hornby one in fact the Bachmann controller in the UK does NOT even have a overload cut out on it so if you loco stops or stalls on the track there controller will keep pumping power to the motor until it kills it ...

    • @AndyMicoley1995

    Here is the odd thing about 00
    As you said the scale is different but the track is actually HO
    Even if the Hornby model was modelled to 1/87 the Hornby track and also Peco track is still incorrect for British HO.
    Both Hornby and Peco have ties or sleepers closer together than is the case in the UK, the track is more akin to US track where the sleeper ie ties are closer together than on British Railways.

    • @AndyMicoley1995
      @AndyMicoley1995  3 года назад

      Exactly. Watch my HO/OO Video.

    • @jimmyduncan7650
      @jimmyduncan7650 3 года назад

      Thats a great point about the sleepers. Most likely was originally designed as a toy with ease of manufacturing in mind.
      Some guys hand lay their own track, maybe a more prototypical track would be a good seller?

    Let’s face it. Locomotives pull a little bit of their brakes on sharp turns so in my opinion when it slows down on the turn is a pretty cool feature but I do get it does get dreadful but yeah not everyone would agree.

  • @stormbowman7148
    @stormbowman7148 4 месяца назад

    The humming is not interference. It is the PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) that the controller uses to control the motor in the train. Basically the same method a digital decoder uses to control the motor. The controller is better than the previous pure analogue controllers. You do not get any humming from the Bachmann controller, because it is pure analogue.
    I agree, there are better controllers out there, both PWM controllers and analog controllers.

    I´ve watched a lot of gaugemaster combi controller videos, it is a UK made controller and i'm totally in love with the performance it offers, i'm thinking about to buy one to operate my flying scotsman, but i don't know if i can use it with an american bachmann wall adapter power supply ( Model: AC1601000, input: AC12OV 60Hz 24W Output: AC16V 1000mA 16 VA) , that's the problem, i don't want to damage it, or lose my money.

Also, I assume the engine and controller are not digitally controlled- is this correct ? Do they make the Flying Scotsman with digital control

    • @AndyMicoley1995
