Although Inspector Morse is readily available on DVD these days, there was a time in the early 1990s when the show was the most prominent example of a curious subgenre of audiobook. Though TV programmes - especially comedies - had been released on audio for many years, the 1990s saw a brief period where TV dramas (and even a few feature films) were released on audio cassette with specially-recorded narration. This was quite different to the audio description usually made available for the benefit of the visually impaired, because an effort was often made to make the new audio sympathetic to the drama, or even feel like part of it. I doubt I'll be posting other examples from Inspector Morse, but I always liked this story as it's very dark and well-told...

Excellent sound quality, I have these on cassette. Other channels post these but I can’t listen to the due to the poor sound.
