    I have yet to buy a kayak and go fishing. My twin and I have our own paintin business and might paint my neighbors house for his bass boat, but this thing looks awesome. Don't know much about inflatable kayaks but that realse valve seems awesome and safe. Love your videos man. Please don't retire.

    The higher quality inflatable kayaks and SUPs have a very high initial stability. That perch seat is neat. Not for me, but if you can set a hook from up there and land a fish without going for a swim, more power to ya. These crafts have their place and purpose.

    Great review! Looks like awesome inflatable reminds me when I was a kid floating down the creek in a inflatable raft. But this one is more extremely better suit for that. It would be great in Rose Lake at Hocking Hocking State Park. We're about 25 minutes away if you're visiting Hocking Hills anytime.

      @@wendellfishing The ODNR releases trout there in the early spring. There's a very few way older vids of people fished and caught bass with buzz bait in a sit in kayak. I hiked it several times. Tried to fish it a couple times. I saw high end ifishing inflatables there years ago.
      Most of tourists fish and boat Lake Logan instead

    I really like mine. It was a toss up with this one and the NRS Pike. I went with the IATAK and have no regrets. Definitely spend the extra ~$100 and get a decent DC pump with a PSI cap setting. It makes things so much easier. Not sure why they threw in the mattress pump...maybe they had a bunch purchased from the back of an unmarked box truck... :D
    But yeah, it tracks great. The wind is certainly more of a factor since it sits up so high, but that's just the way things go. Now I would not want to hike the whole deal for very far, but most places I fish have boat ramps or decent access from parking to the shore.
    All I need now is to pick out a fish finder and get a mount that will attach to the railing. I found a Scotty transducer mount that will go on the starboard mount behind the seat.

    Impressive. Great for those of us with sedans. Just a little worried about puncture, I'm pretty hard on my keel. On my third protector.

    As L.L.A. stated, great review!
    That is a super cool inflatable and definitely the nicest one I have seen. If space was a problem I would most likely buy one. I admit though, I would be a bit worried about a puncture while on the water. I like to explore in my hard plastic kayak. If I did buy the iATAK I wouldn't take it to those large explorative places, at least not until my confidence with it grew. You didn't mention chambers. Does it have them or does it inflate in only one spot? A 3 chamber kayak would be ideal, left, right and hull.

    • @wendellfishing
      @wendellfishing  7 месяцев назад +1

      There are two chambers. The Floor and the Side Wall. Thanks for the post brother!

  • @PhotoBob
    @PhotoBob 7 месяцев назад +12

    I bought the NRS Pike as a travel kayak. However, it is far superior to my Outlaw in every single category. so I am selling my Outlaw. You can put a bixpy on the skeg of these inflatables and they go really fast bc of the lightweight hull.

    Since I live in an apartment I've been thinking about getting an inflatable for my first kayak. The main concern I have is how well it well paddle in a river. I would be primarily going solo so how well do you think it would do going upstream? I just see the current pushing it around easily because it is so light but maybe because it isn't really "in" the water like a traditional kayak it isn't as bad as I think.

    • @wendellfishing
      @wendellfishing  4 месяца назад

      Probably going to be a difficult paddle upstream. But depends on your current

    And I ran into the same issue with the mattress pump. I'll be a little more critical. Even with the gasket, you have to hold that thing the entire time, as it was not designed to work with these types of valves, and is not exactly balanced. :D Their idea was to use the mattress pump to get it started, and then finish with the 2-way manual pump. Fine.
    However, high-PSI inflatables are not exactly for manual pumping either. Sure, you can. But, it is pretty damn near torture to attempt, unless you are in rather good shape.
    So again (for those new to inflatables), buy a rechargeable and/or DC pump with an auto cutoff. Save yourselves. :)
    That said, it is a complaint about an item that has no bearing on anything. If you are going to drop $1400 on a kayak, you are probably prepared to buy a separate paddle and a decent pump. This boat is not about the accessories.

    1300 for an inflatable kayak? You could get a hard plastic troller motor ready for for 600 less. Yea the convenience of not having a trailer or bed extension.... but at that price I can get something more affordable and that allows me to add attachments and a trolling motor. They bring that price down and I'm with it!

    • @wendellfishing
      @wendellfishing  6 месяцев назад

      This one is definitely on the higher end of the pricing.. however, with a drop stitch kayak.., you pay for the quality

      This is for a very specific market, those that want the performance approaching a hardshell, but for some reason (storage, transport) can't simply go with a hardshell.
      I'm storage limited (apartment living), so this is very interesting to me as an upgrade from my current trash inflatable.
