Received my Mav Lariat package a couple of weeks ago. So far, I'm very happy with the vehicle. Thanks Steve, so much for explaining the system. The one set back I did have was the lack of navigation, but you took care of that (and more) for me. Glad I found your link👌.
That's exactly what I wanted to see. When the Display Off button on screen or on the dashboard is pressed the display turns off 100%, even the backlight. In GM vehicles, the backlight stays on so the display is still technically on. My 2017 Focus works just like shown in the Maverick so I'm glad they didn't go as cheap as GM did.
Glad that one thing was in the video! I didn't even think of the compare between this screen and the older one in the Focus, great catch. Have you already ordered your Maverick or doing some research?

Steve, thanks for creating the best video I’ve seen regarding the Maverick’s infotainment system. Just a few questions: 1) I assume you can connect your iPhone to either the USB-A or USB-C connector and simultaneously utilize the second USB (A or C) with the USB flash drive you mentioned? 2) Do you know if the screen will display album art (embedded in the MP3 file or as a .jpg contained within an album’s folder) while playing an MP3 file stored on a USB flash drive? 3) Might I be able to connect my old school 60GB iPod to the second USB port? These are just a few of the (hyper-specific!) questions I since I wait patiently (Spring….2025? Joking….I think.) for my hybrid Maverick. Thanks!
Wow, appreciate the kind words! 1. Yes you can connect to either port 2. Album art is typically visible with other devices - that should carry over if it's available in the file 3. The Maverick owner's manual does claim that it supports nearly any media player - with iPod listed. As long as it has USB or Bluetooth you should be good to go Haha hopefully you see yours a bit sooner than that! What build did you decide to go with?

Anytime! Most aftermarket screens would be compatible.. it would just be a matter of the features that are available in the one you pick up. There's a small chance that you could find a Sync3 screen for your Maverick and have it programmed to your VIN to get all the features you'd find in the Lariat
Really easy to do and there are a few ways to do it. 1. Start up CarPlay and launch your map, on the CarPlay screen press the Ford icon to get back to the Sync screen. Go to Audio and find your station. Click on the map icon on the bottom tray to launch back into CarPlay. 2. If you have the Lariat trim with Sync3, when you're in CarPlay you can do a quick press of the voice command prompt on the steering wheel and say "tune to xx.x fm/am etc" and you should be good to go

I just got my '24 Maverick, with the basic screen, and I'm having trouble finding how to go between maps and audio, when using a usb stick, while having both the phone and stick plugged into the two ports.
That's one thing I've never tried in the Maverk before.. Can you get CarPlay or Android Auto to work by itself and USB audio to work by itself when they're both plugged in?
There have been some updates to Android Auto (at least for some Audi models) that make Android Auto wireless. Is wireless available for the Maverick now?
Android Auto has had wireless capability for a while now but it's whether or not the screen that it's connecting to has support for it. The current generation Maverick unfortunately doesn't have support for wireless CarPlay or Android Auto but the next generation 2025 models have a reworked interior with the same screen as the current Escape that does support wireless
Any phone audio can be streamed over Bluetooth! I should have clarified that in the video. The app itself won’t show in the Sync screen like Pandora or LiveXLive but Bluetooth audio for most apps will work no problem
Few things you could try. First is a screen reset, this video shows you how to do it: ruclips.net/video/Dk9n49bi7CE/видео.html If that doesn't work then it's either the cable or the USB port that you're using. I find sometime the USB-C ports don't work properly for data transfer. But it could also be your USB cable... some 3rd party cables are not data transfer and only support charging. The next step would be to replace the USB cable with one that has a data icon on it (similar to the icon next to the Maverick's USB ports)
Not all USB devices are compatible. Have you tried connecting it via the USB-A and USB-C port? Make sure that you're using a USB cable that supports data transfer
I know right? That's one complaint I have with most manufacturer media screens, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There needs to be a way to play video when the car is stopped and in park
If you do a long press and hold of the voice command prompt it should launch into your Google Assistant... if it doesn't go to your Android Auto settings on your phone and make sure that "Hey Google" detection is enabled.. then just use your voice to call
Is there a way to hit the Fast Forward button to skip to the next radio station without defaulting to the search station feature? Makes it easier to switch stations when driving when a commercial comes on.
Usually disabled through the screen when the vehicle is in motion. If you're connected to CarPlay or Android Auto you could long press the voice command prompt on the steering wheel to activate your assistant and make the call. Other option would be to rely on the Sync call feature..
Yeah, you'd be able to connect over bluetooth for phone/music or through USB for Android Auto. If Android Auto isn't working when you connect, just make sure you have a USB cable with data transfer support
Did anyone realized screen pop up a message says phone is disconnected? That happen for all mavericks. I have seem people report this. And it happen for me a lot. The apple car play just suddenly disconnect and maybe recover after few minutes then disconnect again.
That's actually how the system is supposed to work. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are separate connections than bluetooth. When a phone is connected via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay it no longer relies on bluetooth for phone calls as the AA/CP connection is now responsible for that. So the Sync screen would disable the bluetooth connection to the phone which would cause the "phone is disconnected" message. It probably could be handled classier than showing that message though!
Few things to try.. Try a soft reboot by pressing and holding the volume power button and the right seek button for 5-10 seconds. Wait for the screen to turn on and then try again. If that doesn't work, then on your Maverick, delete the phone connection from the vehicle and the vehicle connection from the phone's bluetooth. Then on your iPhone go to Settings --> General --> CarPlay. If your Maverick is there, click "forget this car". Then reconnect over USB and it should work. If that doesn't work, try a different USB cable. It needs to have a data transfer icon on it. I find that 3rd party cables don't like to work sometimes

thank you for the info. However, I will not give you a "like", as you tube, in their lack of wisdom, does not allow a "dislike" anymore.
If you can sort this out with the idiots at you tube, I'll gladly give a "like".

@@CarsWithSteve : Feel free to forward my response to you tube. They've stopped replying to me.
