  • Liverpool are this season's Carabao Cup winners after an incredible 1-0 win over Chelsea. But with Pochettino's side looking the most likely to win it, Jurgen Klopp turned to a host of academy graduates to turn the tide. Adam Clery looks at how, despite their lack of experience, they not only matched Chelsea, but turned the game entirely.

How Caicedo wasn't sent off for the tackle on Gravenberch is beyond me. Didn't even get a yellow for such an insane foul. Then he did the same ankle twisting foul on Endo who just fought on so how he got to stay on the field was beyond EVERYONE who wasn't blue. It's crazy how Kavanagh allowed such reckless and violent actions despite them being accidental. Curtis Jones red was also for an accidental, yet that was still a red? how does Caicedo avoid the same fate for two different fouls on the ankles?

I think the best part of Endo's performance, and I'm surprised you didn't mention this, is the fact that he was only in Liverpool's team because Caicedo and Lavia snubbed Liverpool for Chelsea. Fernandez too really. And yet not only was Endo in contention for man of the match, but he completely outplayed Caicedo and did it without making a reckless dangerous tackle that injured another player which any other ref in Football would have AT LEAST given a yellow for. Well done Endo, master class, and glad Liverpool didn't get Caicedo, Lavia, or Fernandez.
Also worth mentioning the fact that the entire planet outside of the VAR room and ref accept that Van Dyk scored twice.
That is what happens when a ref makes a poor decision in the first half, reviews it at half time, and bottled it to let VAR influence him into an even poorer decision

Finally someone who talks about the difference in energy in the midfield for that extra time. Teams were matched for 90 mins (because of key Liverpool injuries as they are obviously better) and the energy in that key area was the difference at the end. For all of Liverpool's injuries, Chelsea had as many which meant they had no midfielders on the bench, senior or academy to come in.
Chelsea should've won in 90 mins as their average settled team was better than Liverpool's hindered team, but the "kids" didn't win it, they kept the ball stopping Chelsea's counterattacks with their experienced 20 year old wingers and injured striker

it being chelsea (team who nipped some players away from us), all the injuries and youngsters shining... Kklopps final season.
    Ya there are many reasons.
Delighted with it and I really loved seeing Klopp raise the cup with Van Dijk. I hope he didn't mind sharing it too much.

It is funny everyone talks about Liverpool kids but in league none talks about Chelsea kids. Klopp three 19 and 20 years old in. Chelsea rely on 19 and 20 to succeed in league lol

Klopp learned a lot from the spurs loss and is now much more prepared to take risks. He knew Chelsea were crap
