well Done both of you and belated Happy birthday to Becky. Good Run after using some of that energy cleaning ice 🧊 but well done for helping out. sure many people appreciate that 👍🏃🏻➡️🏃🏻♀️
Thanks Paul! We really just aim to do a bit to help parkrun go ahead, but the fact that people appreciate it helps to warm us up on those cold mornings 😀 Thanks for watching!
@@philquigley3434 Cheers Phil. I suspect you might be right. I'll be there nice and early in the morning with snow shoes and pickaxe in the hopes we can clear any build ups.
Well done that’s a great effort from you both especially in those conditions and that busy , hill reps are so good to build into your training plan , keep up the good work 👍🏃♂️🏃♂️
Thanks Jase! I'm hoping that between hill reps and having a go at sprinkling some trail running into our weeks that it will be a game changer for our performances this year, as well as levelling up the enjoyment factor of running too. Your runs all look like adventures, and I really would like some of that I think 👌
@@blewdigeidfran Thank you Gethin! I certainly hope so. It would be a shame for the effort to be wasted on bad weather. Even so, with everything we have planned this year, I'm confident it will happen sooner or later. And we have other challenges for Becky to catch up on too 🤣
Good effort from you both. Becky off like a rocket through a sea of bottoms 😂 living the dream 😂 Love that you’re both out de-icing the course so that over 1k people get to do a run. What ✨ Shame about the attempt but I look forward to joining when it does go ahead 💪🏃🏃🏃♀️
@@TheRunningWhale Haha Craig! That comment triggered some chuckles in our house 🤣🤣🤣 We try to do our bit to make sure it goes ahead. From a slightly selfish perspective it also means we get the run too. I'm really keeping fingers crossed that the forecast stays mild next week 🤞
@@sagsdothedu Thanks Mark. I am feeling strong at the moment so fingers crossed. We have a new date pencilled in to try again. I've tried to put in a request to the met office for good weather, so time will tell if they take notice. I'm looking forward to seeing how she does in the mile too. I honestly have no idea who would be faster (provided she is well on the day)
Thank you!! I would like to do something to make Becky's stats stand out from mine, and I have already figured out how to have both of our positions shown on a single map. Maybe this could line us up for a bit of friendly parkrun competition when Becky is feeling like she is back up to full fitness? 😉😋
Well done guys, those times are great, especially considering angina hill! Definitely well deserved flapjack. You are gonna smash that sub 25 goal! Loved the 2 perspectives and look forward to seeing more. See you in a couple of weeks weather permitting!
Thanks Mandy! Just lately Angina Hill has been feeling a little bit easier each time i take it on. ⛰️🏃 Fingers crossed for better weather next week, and I hope your back is recovering okay 🤞
@@TheRegularRunnerthat’s good about the hill, Craig always tells me hill training is all round good for running and it’s obviously working for you. The backs not too bad now thanks, just worried about jarring it again as still get odd twinge, that was hills on NYD parkrun 🤦🏽♀️ 🤪
@@SisterMandy they do say theres too much of a good thing 🤣 I find downhills don't do me many favours. Trying to keep my form and keeping myself stable despite the increased impact is something i could also do with improving. Im hoping our planned forays into a bit of trail running might help with that. Good luck with the back. Hope it is back up to full strength soon.
Nice one mate and top one for all the work you both do to make sure heaton parkrun goes ahead 🙌 , there's still time for the alexandra effort. There's no rush. Really good video aswell and as always great see you both there. Twice in as many days and your featured on my video aswell. Unfortunately tal was eager to scan her chip as she thought it somehow affected her time and position if we didn't get it scanned immediately 😂... anyhow be a little while before I can parkrun again as classes resumed on Saturdays but be great to hookup and do one together sometime 👍 top work 🙌
@@whereweoffDAD Haha yeah she was getting a bit worried about that wasn't she? It's a shame I didnt realise you were there until the end so I could give you a shout out on camera. We'll defo line one up at some point when you can make it mate. Drop me a dm on strava when you can make it and we'll work something out. Always up for planning an easy run up your way sometime too since you have the lake and the canal up there. The weather is looking to brighten up soon so the Alex Park effort will hopefully be back on the cards. Thanks for watching mate. Really appreciate the support.
@TheRegularRunner she certainly was 😅 i was recording and she interrupted the chat 🤦♂️ill give u a shout for sure. Make a good vlog the pennine trails near me...And good hill training 💪
Well Done both of you, equally on the running efforts 💪🏼 and the volunteering beforehand too! ❤ I have volunteered in the past, but more often than not run these days when I attend a ParkRun; this video makes me think about the need to give back a bit more, which isn’t a bad thing. On a personal note, I’m finally getting over my Christmas ills, so hoping to start a 15 week marathon training plan next week; so if your sub 25 attempt fits in with my training plan I may come over to Alexandra ParkRun with you, though as I’ve already broken 25mins relatively recently I’d have to target a sub 24min minimum! Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Thank you! That's great to hear! Nobody is expected to volunteer as often as we do, but they generally say if everyone volunteered once or twice per year then we would never be short. We try to do our bit behind the scenes, so getting there early to set up, and staying late to tidy away, and then will occasionally sacrifice a run for marshalling, funnel managing or scanning (or even being the RD for the day!). I've tried to work my way through the roles to learn how to do them so i can chip in if we are ever desperate, but none of them are difficult to do, and its always good fun, particularly since it opens doorways to make new friends with your regular volunteers too. Although I have a target date to try the run at Alexandra, I'm cautious of over promising that we will be there on that specific date. Because of the cold weather conditions lately they've unfortunately had to cancel a couple of weeks in a row. I wouldn't want to be responsible for you missing a parkrun thinking we were going to be there only for it to be cancelled and we have gone elsewhere. But if you happen to see us, feel free to say hi. If I'm halfway round an all out PB attempt though, please don't be offended if I am too out of breath to talk 🤣 Thanks for watching, as always 🙏
@ I’ve got a 90min long run planned for tomorrow as part of my marathon training, so gonna have to give it a miss this time; but good luck, you’ve got this! 👍🏼
Thanks Mike. We appreciate any tips and support people may have, but the biggest help we can get here is hearing what people would like to see on this channel as we really want to bring content that people enjoy. You never know, any suggestions might see us try something we haven't thought of yet. 🤔 Thanks for watching mate!
Everything you’re doing is awesome I enjoy the content & different park run adventures , the track sessions it’s a good variety don’t know why some say there’s a lot of “ rambling “ when I find that’s just part of the journey you take us on / speaking your mind & thoughts etc and I really do enjoy it . Keep it up 👍
@@mikeygamez1615 haha they make a fair comment. I do waffle a bit 🤣 but im glad you appreciate my thoughts. It's tough to film at the track because we can only get away with filming there on weekday daytimes while it's quiet (club rules), but I hope that when the days start to get longer we can find a flat loop area in a park somewhere that can substitute for a track to create more training specific videos showing how we get things done. Thanks for the comments! 💙
My fastest (18 minutes?) was done by running 10 bpm below my max for the first mile, 5 bpm below max for second mile, and then at my max HR for the last mile. Works really well.

Night before your sub 25 attempt may I suggest you do stretching like lunges and squats to prep the hip flexors also on the morning of the run helped me take 30 seconds off my time
@@Ruffnreddyrunner A great suggestion, thank you! I am following Yoga With Adrienne's 'Runners Yoga' session on a daily basis this week, along with a couple of additional hip flexor stretches recommended by my physio after I had a bit of a hip flexor issue in the Manchester Half. I'm actually convinced that tight hip flexor led to my groin strain, so I'm really keen to keep on top of that. Thanks so much for the tip, and for watching! 💙
