Thank you, glad you're enjoying them so far! We'll pick back up on the Ys games in due time, we just plan on spreading the love to some other series a bit in the meantime. We'll be focusing on the Tales of series regarding retrospectives for the next couple months in anticipation for Tales of Arise
After playing 8, I went back and played Oath in Felghana. I plan on playing 9 next. Let me know your thoughts on Oath! I thought it was a fun arcade style RPG.
Ha ha, the voice acting in this game was actually exclusive to the PSP version of the game. They patched in the voice track about a year ago into the Steam version. I think it was a license issue or something.
I did see that it was only added to the Steam version pretty recently. Interesting that it didn't have it for so long. I still remember passing up on the PSP version many years ago and regretting that decision ever since considering it's only risen in price since then lol
@@GamingBroductions It's also worth pointing out that Ys I and II had voice acting on the Turbo Grafx CD but not the Chronicles version which came out 19 years later.
The psp version has the best npc voices as I remember... Love the voice of Elena. 🥹

Working Designs published some interesting JRPG's in the 90's. Tactics Ogre/Ogre Battle or Front Mission would also be a good niche series.

A bit of a ways a way from replaying this as I decided to start from Origin but I look forward to it as well as the others in the series.

I actually really liked the original ys III lol. I played it on the genesis
I only played the SNES version, do you know if the Genesis version differs much? Admittedly I never got farther than a couple hours in lol but the early game grinding kinda turned me off. From my reading up on it, it seemed to be one of the least popular entries in the series but that's not to say enjoyment can't be had from it as your experience clearly shows. I know there are some games I love that aren't exactly super popular in the community. Great example of why it's important for people to form their own opinions instead of taking others at face value all the time
@@GamingBroductions the turbografx cd version is the best of the original version of 3. the music hard carries. still not that amazing though but i still enjoyed my time in big part thanks to the music.
or could just listen to it online lol did that for years myself anyways. just wanted to beat an original version before playing the remake was all.
same is true for ys1 and 2, and 4. turbografx cd /pc engine all the way. love those games and soundtracks.

Yeah 😔 I do plan on going back to finish this Ys retrospective series eventually but these vids just didn’t get much views unfortunately plus we had sorta missed the Ys IX hype train by that point. Oh well, hopefully they’ll announce the next in the series or a remake or something soon to plan some content around
