The speaker has to get some bills passed in order to allow Republicans in Purple districts to be elected/re-elected, as a large percentage of people see the status quo as stagnation. Therefore, the best Republican speakers will limit extremely leftist bills and prioritize right wing and bi-partizan bills that are both good for the country and good for Republican's ability to hold a majority. Johnson is one of the most conservative speakers ever, you may not agree with him fully, but thus far he has done only slightly worse than the previous speaker with no former experience. Give him a term or two as speaker and he will be very capable.
