Robots developed by UNSW is playing soccer for Robocup at ICC Sydney.
RoboCup is an annual international robotics competition proposed and founded in 1996 by a group of university professors. The aim of such a competition consists of promoting robotics and AI research, by offering a publicly appealing, but formidable challenge.
In 2016, the world's competition was held in Leipzig, Germany. RoboCup 2017 was held in Nagoya, Japan.

What a waste of money. They are years and years away from the human form of the game. So they started in 1996 and this is now 23 years later.. Please give up and house some poor child on the street with the funding.

@@SYNEPictures I wouldn't matter how i viewed it. It's an opinion i have. Millions on this!!!! or lift more children off the streets out of poverty, abuse, violence, hunger. For me it's a simple choice when it comes to funding well intentioned well paid professors or the needy children.

That there is even welfare at all is a magnanimous mercy on you. This exercise of refining software. It is what ensures there is enough food and healthcare to enable you to worry about the eternally homeless child. I guarantee you are not one of the remarkable individuals that could put a stranger's child before yourself, were you both starving to death.

@@ting4548 A poor child? Why not punish the lady that chose to birth a child into poverty? Handouts, welfare, charity. Its how a State ensures that the cycle of poverty self perpetuates and GROWS! Where do you think tax revenue comes from? Yes. Responsible adults that have the self control not to hump everything that moves. Some human beings are not capable of these higher level mental functions. And thus, we should incentivise them to self-sterilize. And especially hold ladies accountable for their actions. No more carousel of welfare because One just "becomes" pregnant.
