Spent three absolutely perfect days here last year. The pool, the aura, the laid back feeling and how outside life seems to vanish away. The bathroom was a nostalgia gut-punch because it was like stepping back into my grandma's house again (a house I haven't been to since 2003). Like nothing has changed since the early sixties. And you're sitting there drinking cocktails at a bar that a hundred years of Hollywood stars have visited. I dressed up and felt so glamorous! And yes, I have to blame Lana Del Rey for fixing this place in my head. :D
Believe it or not, it looks kind of shabby and unkempt compared to how it looks now. We stayed there last week and the foliage has grown a lot and is really well taken care of. It's absolutely gorgeous and trying to find our cottage was like going through a maze. Staying there was fantastic. It was absolutely amazing.
There’s something about West Hollywood that’s always captivated me. Walking on Sunset Blvd at night always gives me nostalgic like goose bumps. The Chateau is gorgeous. If I was loaded I’d rent out the presidential suite lol.
I don't think they could have. Supposedly they're extremely strict on the no pictures or video rule in the hotel and I'm really surprised they actually got as much as they did on the video.
Yep. I tried once. They let me walk around but no pics or filming. I have to say, though-they were very nice about it. And I do have to also say-given the extensive celebrity clientele they have, I understand their views. Privacy is expected at any lodging you pay for-celebrity or not.
I DID hav e couple drinks in Bar Marmont one night though. And while I tried not to be too ‘touristy’ I did feel I saw some celebs ‘dressed down’ and kind of incognito, though I couldn’t say who. And the bar truly feels like Old School Hollywood. It’s gorgeous.
Yeah, you can't take pics in the lobby area which is close to the restaurant and bar. Security is discreet but tight. We had to show our key several times because we were nobodies. 😂😂😂
It is very expensive. I just wanted to see it on a trip to LA., thought I'd just pop in in the afternoon and order a cup of tea. $27. No stars but you could tell some Hollywood deals were going down.
No, you did not pay $27 for a cup of tea. You can order a beer for $8, or one of their fancy cocktails for $20. A cup of tea is not $27. Nice try though.
Such a wonderful place. Ten minutes after you're there you feel like you should be living there. The food, the staff, the pool--one of my favorite hotels in the world, hands down.
@kevinburke6055 you can't see the John Belushi bungalow anymore. You can go up the steps to it, but there's a big fence surrounding it with a blackout tarp covering it.
My Mom took us to stay there in 1987 when she was getting a divorce from our horrible stepfather. Looks are deceiving because it was full time glamour the entire stay. The staff was excellent and the dining wss superb. This was thirty years ago but I still remember the beds and pool. Great video
The outside part of the hotel, the nature surrounding it and the pool is very beautiful, but the inside of the hotel room itself is dull and bland. You would think with the outside looking so gorgeous they would fix the inside as well. It look like a cheap hotel. Shame on them. If you're charging people crazy prices, at the very least make them feel like they're actually at The Chateau Marmont instead of Motel 6. lol
They’re preserving it’s original design. The chateau has so much history in it. It’s the favourite place for legendary icons, and many celebrities. And they don’t go there for the aesthetic. They go there for privacy and to PARTYYY 🎉
I love it that they have the original 1920s furniture and fixtures still there. It's great to see classic architecture in such great shape and not "remodeled".
@@greyeaglem It has actually been remodeled many times. The new owner bought new appliances and furniture that looks vintage, back in the early 2000s. I suggest Castle on the Hill by Shawn Levy, a history of the Chateau.
dude if that.... lol.... this is like a $50 room anywhere else.... easy.... you can get a BITCHIN airbnb for WAY cheaper than this in the heart of LA to this day.
I saw that they're going to transition into a 100% exclusive "hotel" in the near future. Accommodations will no longer be made available to common folks.
:) Thank you for sharing. I stayed in cottage 81 @ 6:13, its in a noisy spot near the strip. So they upgraded me to a room with a long balcony over looking the dinning area.
Thanks for the video tour .. I enjoyed it! I drive past it one a month or so, always looking up at it but not sure I'd stay there (cost being a factor). I should add it to my bucket list, or in case I come across some large amount of disposable money.. lol. Personally, I'm attracted to the rich history of it - primarily, old(er) Hollywood days of 30+ years ago.. and it does have a rich history. Money talks, so if you have enough benji's, anyone can stay the night - it's not exclusive to just celebrities or the rich & famous.
Not anymore it appears. Apparently they're transitioning to an all-exclusive business model in the near future. Won't be available to the general public any longer.
A Lynchian setting for a great story. The paths and sidewalks with glades of sun and shade-dappled greens on both sides next to the white exterior. A fairy-tale waiting to unfold.
this place exists for years and years it's really an old building (est 1929) but they prefer to preserve the original design very retro\vintage it's high price cause of the celebrities history most of them go there to hang out with friends and for privacy
Reminiscing in 2023 of my one day stay at the Chateau Marmont in 2013 and believe me I had a blast. Overnight skinny dipping in their heated pool was magical and having them serve me filet mignon at 5am; made me feel like a superstar at least for one night 🌟.

I first decided to go visit the Chateau Marmont in 2011, it grew out of my life long interest in old Hollywood (beginning in the late Fifties) and I didn't even know who Lana Del Rey was in 2011.
How interesting. Lots of private "nooks and cranny's". I wonder if it has changed much over the years. It appears to have retained a beautiful classical look.
It does have an air of old Hollywood. It's very comfortable without but has managed to retain its charm. We stayed in cottage 81 which was featured in the video! It's even nicer now than when this video was filmed. We had a wonderful time there.
Yes I know this is an historic hotel but I feel like the rooms need an update. Perhaps pink marble in the bathrooms and a more modern bed so it doesn't look like a cheap and dated motel on the inside of the hotel rooms

I was having a really average time when I went there for the first (and only) time until my friend drove by the Chateau Marmont and I was immediately all giddy "IS THAT THE CHATEAU MARMONT?!" She was so happy that I was happy. We had drinks across the road at The Den and I just marveled at it from afar. Then I got really cheap cigarettes from that cute little kiosk on Sunset lol.
