I worked in chrysler vehicle development 69on, at the time we were building for the day. Things sure have changed. I wonder if you put 1970 tires on todays cars how fast they would be. I sure would like a scat pack challenger.
you have to remember something there einstein...the tires back in the day were a huge factor of muscle cars not going 11's. There were cars capable but they just couldn't hook up with 7" -8" bias ply tires and basic spring shock suspensions. . There was a '69 Nova 350 and a '69 427 Chevelle in my town that both 4 sp. cars, both ran stock at the local 1/8 mi. drag strip...they were "stock" as defined by NHRA that were wicked fast on the street. And they truly were the basic Nova and Chevelle without a lot of expensive speed equipment on them. The guys that owned them knew how to tune them and get them to hook up. I would put them up against any of the new offerings except the Demon if they were still around. Another thing...back in the day many of the muscle cars were cheaper than their Family 4 door sisters. Not so any more. Muscle cars were just basic cars with big mean engines that any guy with a wrench could buy and tune . Today's muscle cars are so high priced and way too high tech for average Joe mechanic and one reason they run so good is computers...lots of them There are separate computers controlling every mechanical function on modern cars. My son's '16 Chevy Silverado has no less that 8 different computers in there. And that is a P/U truck...imagine what a Demon or Shelby has in them. The old days the "computer" was knowledge today the computers do all the thinking. Seems like you millennials have to have everything done for you. Even have the car drive itself these days. Todays car MUCH faster than the old ones ...NFW dude. Perhaps a few of them a little, but at what cost? More than you or most people can afford I'd bet.
You are aware of the fact that stock new muscle cars are big-time modified from the factory!... superchargers, turbochargers, the best of New Age Technology in every area including Transmissions etc I mean you are aware of that right?
Unfortunately I am seeing mostly not stock vintage MOPARS vs. mostly stock newer ones so naturally, the vintages end up winning anyway. If they were all stock, I am sure newer MOPARS will win, with some exception, maybe.
Bracket racing, I hate it but it's the only way to make the races competitive. With street cars there is just too wide of a performance level to just bunch them together in different classes but I still hate it!
I love MOPAR , Ford and Chevy. Ford is my favorite. However for the money I would spend on a new challenger vs an old school challenger ..just give me a 70 model with a big ass hemi and a slapstick auto. Smiles all day!
Some races are called "Bracket Racing or Dial In racing" in which are the same thing. So, when bracket racing, both cars dial in their expected time at the end of the 1/4 mile prior to racing and u could see there dial in time written on the back side window. when the race starts, the slower of the 2 cars leaves first and then the 2nd car gets the green light and he goes and in theory if both cars do there exact dial in time they should reach the finish line at the same time but, this rarely happens.....anyways, the winner is the closest to their dial in time without going over/faster then their dial in time. If both cars go faster then their dial in time then the winner is the car closest to their dial in time. Hope this helps? google it: "Bracket racing is a form of drag racing that allows for a handicap between predicted elapsed time of the two cars over a standard distance, typically within the three standard distances (1/8 mile, 1,000 foot, or 1/4 mile) of drag racing".
lets make the trans gearing fair, and see what happens. new mopars have a fucking 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION. if they only shifted to 6th, it would be 1:1, just like the 727 3rd, and a833 4th. results would be a lot different.
doothedoo Right. No such thing as a modern "muscle car". New cars are full of shitty plastic everything, electronic everything, air bags, backup cameras, and fuel injection. The last major muscle car era was the 1970s.
Yeah because fuck the fact that they still make ridiculous power and straight line speed coupled with the classic body style. You're focusing too much on the damn materials of the car. That's idiotic. A muscle car is a muscle car. And no. Then new ones don't have electric everything.
Not a single one of those old cars was stock. This is the most lopsided comparison ever. All you have to do is look up the stats of each one of those old cars for factory specks stock they don’t even come close to any of these new cars. What a joke..
new mopar fanboys: "REEEE THEY ARENT STOCK" they have been out for over 40 years....what the hell do you expect? go mod your new stuff and see what you can do. hint: no better, hp is hp.
Jesus Christ is returning soon everyone! He died for our sins and was buried and then rose from the dead because He love us so much. Whoever believe in Him as Lord and Savior will be saved. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
I take old school muscle over any of the new shit any day... Everything made today is made soooo cheeeeezy... Back then, man and machine made the power, today ya got stupid computers controlling everything. Leave the damn computers in the offices!!!
Mike Gee, You have your opinion and I have mine and that's fine... I have experienced both old and new... I began driving in 1970 and owned many of the old school muscle cars. I agree the engine technology has come along way, but many of the pieces and interior parts and trim of new cars are made sooooo cheezy. I would rather put 25 grand in restoring a 70 Mustang or 69 Z/28 Camaro than paying the price of any new ride today!!!
@Mike Gee why are you trying to compare 1970 to 2015? put 2015 tech on that 429 and good fucking bye new mustang. also, i fucking wish old cars had rack and pinion. thats new car stuff.
I worked in chrysler vehicle development 69on, at the time we were building for the day. Things sure have changed. I wonder if you put 1970 tires on todays cars how fast they would be. I sure would like a scat pack challenger.
I love those "A" body cars!
Old muscle cars will always look the best fast or not
Kabba45 Couldn't agree more👌
true that
Yeah they cant be beaten #olderandwiser
Kabba45 disagree
The new mopars are impressively fast.
My grandparents watch all them old shows including Adam 12 lol
This is cool. Muscle Cars, station wagons and four door family sedans racing. Even pickups.
Today's cars are much faster stock than the old ones were. I love both ,but the old ones were heavily modified. Nothing back then ran 11s stock .
stock is an irrelevant term.

Mopar is a Mopar! You get what you get from what you put your time/money into.
people you know the older cars are modified right
vs the stock newer cars
You are aware of the fact that stock new muscle cars are big-time modified from the factory!... superchargers, turbochargers, the best of New Age Technology in every area including Transmissions etc I mean you are aware of that right?
what's with all the late jump starts
Unfortunately I am seeing mostly not stock vintage MOPARS vs. mostly stock newer ones so naturally, the vintages end up winning anyway. If they were all stock, I am sure newer MOPARS will win, with some exception, maybe.
Patrick Murphy yes
"stock" is an irrelevant term.
That's y I love Mopar all the old stuff
Bracket racing, I hate it but it's the only way to make the races competitive. With street cars there is just too wide of a performance level to just bunch them together in different classes but I still hate it!
irs not a question of which one is better its a question of which one would you rather own, give me the old school cars any day
I love MOPAR , Ford and Chevy. Ford is my favorite. However for the money I would spend on a new challenger vs an old school challenger ..just give me a 70 model with a big ass hemi and a slapstick auto. Smiles all day!
Honestly, I bet these new cars would turn some decent times if the shed some weight
All the mopars great
Nice video, Thumbs Up Liked.
Damn did the first guy have nos, started late and basically smoked the kinda new charger still 😂😂😂
Stock new cars vs built old cars lol
Bet those vintage cars have the same amount of cash in them that’d it take to buy a new car
lol no, gt turbod.
exactly
That old cars has 600 hp¡¡¡!!
Why are the news cars leaving the line so early?

headly66 xD cause they now for a fact that there plastic toys can't beat real cars straight up #ClassicsCarsForTheWin
Handicaps!
Slow cars first and get run down by the faster car. Neither one can break out of there dial in time or they lose anyhow.
Its called a handicap
Adam 12 Lol Officer Pete Malloy (Martin Milner and Jim Reed (Kent Mc Cord)
Take offs are horrible in the news ones wtf
why does old school take off after new?
phill 1967 This is called bracket racing, it's hard to explain so search it up
because they are faster
The new cars are red lighting and I think it's not a fair race
Cool video.

Wow talk about respect senior citizens
XD fuck the plastic toy cars get a mans car all AMERICAN MUSCLE. No plastic just metal❤❤
Lets see the Built OLD car take on a STOCK HellCat better yet the New STOCK DEMON and see Who Wins!
put a turbo on the old car and it will.
I understand it's a 2017 vid but without a stock SRT Demon update it's fake news
no surprise..a real car vs a modern day plastic garbage can..
No disrespect to old muscles cars but if you think that the modern ones are plastic then your brain is made of shit.
doothedoo You can't just call a modern day car a plastic garbage when the same company made the old ones
doothedoo Right. No such thing as a modern "muscle car". New cars are full of shitty plastic everything, electronic everything, air bags, backup cameras, and fuel injection. The last major muscle car era was the 1970s.

Try putting a Demon or a Hellcat in the mix & see what happens.
All I see is old beating crap and giving headstart
Old school all the way.
