Thanks for the people explaining things here. It's my first time doing this kind of video so it definitely helps me out. Honestly, there's a missed opportunity to compare different engines too. So I'll just try to fill in here. Tho, here's some key takeaway that are discussed in the comments: - Engines such as Fusion compiler or Rainforest gourmet that is not atk mainstat will generally be lacking atk. That's why the atk disc 5 comes up better in some scenarios. They will get better with phys disc if you can gain combat atk buffs such as Lucy buff, weapon passives, or other sources. - If you will be running atk mainstat engines, such as Weeping or Piper's signature, the phys disc 5 will definitely be better. Having an atk disc 5 will just be diminishing returns at that point. - For pen disc, my point still stands that if you can stack a lot of pen, it will be good especially against enemies with higher def. You need to use Fusion compiler or run Piper alongside Rina for this. - If you're going to ask me which is the best engine, I will always answer her signature if you have it at max. It would be S3-S5 Roaring > S5 Weeping = S1 Fusion Compiler > S5 Rainforest > S1 Roaring > other engines with lower rank and star levels. The anomaly buildup buff is honestly just too good, and nothing can compete with it. If you have Jane's signature and fine giving it to Piper, use it, why not. Slightly better than Roaring if you can maintain passive at full uptime. Now if you're having trouble on what to build or having terrible luck (I completely relate to this), you can just use whatever piece you have since dmg is not that too far off to stress yourself out. But of course for min-maxing, you want to use the piece that will be good alongside your engine and your team comp. If you still have more questions, I'm down answering them so feel free to ask! - Edit: added my engine rankings (personal opinion).
Finally a well made SIDE BY SIDE comparison video. The comparison video I always see arent even side by side and is low effort. Thanks for this video!!
wow, ty for all these answers, i was wondering about these different builds and stats for a while now but i didnt have resources to get them and test them yet. now i feel a lot more confident what to get for my future piper/jane doe combo team
Incredibly well-done video. The stats are all so incredibly similar, and the rotations are all exactly the same for each comparison so the data we get here is actually really f*cking reliable. Awesome work!
Thank you! Tangible data I can actually use as reference. This'll go a long way in reminding myself that Piper still has a ways to go on my account damage-wise. Kudos!
Pen build is probably gonna be the first pick later down the line when they introduce enemies with higher DEF stats, since the tankiness right now comes from bloated hp pools mostly
@@Qopa yes? idk what youre getting at in general right now in the game, PEN% has very little value because, even with the level difference in Shiyu, enemies dont have too much DEF stat if, for example, a boss comes out that has 4x the DEF that bosses right now, but 1/3 of the HP, PEN% will be far far better than any other type of stat you can get on your discs
@@inokori7146 when you're building characters in games like epic 7, genshin, hsr, etc, you need a good balance of crit and crit dmg ratio proportional to the most optimal # of dmg%/elemental % and current atk% on your units. For HSR, if your Acheron has 5k atk and 150% crit dmg. You will overall do less than a, 4k atk + 200%-250% crit dmg Acheron build in the outcome. But the thing is, if you have Sparkle who can grant massive amount of crit dmg% on her skill, the former with 5k atk would do better than the ladder if both had Sparkle as their support. So your team composition actually affects your end-game build quite a bit depending on who you're planning to pair your main dps with. ======== Which means that if you over-inflated your atk%, there will be a huge diminishing return as a result of only focusing on one stat; unless you get a support to push up other stats up to make your build look a lot more efficient. For anamoly in ZZZ, that may not be the case depending on the developer's future plan to implement more higher defense enemies or not. But I feel like with HSR, with moc/shiyu getting 300k+ more HP every version, pen% might remain the same as it is now. and I could see why atk% > dmg%, stun multiplier probably works like dmg% bonus in a way.
today i learn that stunned enemy damage multipliers affect assault damage thank you for giving me a reason to build anby in case i spend too much on burnice and wont have enough for lighter
This video is great. For the matter of Freedom Blues vs Fanged Metal; after viewing your video and coupling with a little bit of my own research, I made a few conclusions which one you should go for depending on what you are going for. Fanged Metal: TLDR; Usually better for Piper main DPS/Piper Carry when bossing Can be better for bossing, especially if piper is the "main" DPS. Also useful just to slap on other units with piper since triggering assault dmg increase is all that is necessary. The obvious weakness mentioned in your video as well is that it needs the assault to work. Freedom Blues: TLDR; usable in bossing specifically to trigger assault when another anomaly is active It also can be used in bossing if the intention is to assault to after Shock/Burn/Corruption DoT to trigger DISORDER. Using Assault or Shatter to trigger the DoT can do a lot of burst dmg, the clear issue being that you need to actually trigger both anomalies in the correct order for the damage to come down. Freedom Blues just makes sure you're there more often so you're not in an awkward spot where you can't trigger either of the two anomalies. This would be done with an anomaly Main and an anomaly triggerer (I.E. Grace > Piper) or as a triggerer with a DPS + Support combo (I.E. Soldier 11, Lucy > piper)
I like the comparison side by side so you can see the difference. I've been trying to experiment with different discs, but the damage numbers pop up so fast in game sometimes it's hard to tell what the difference is unless it's a big difference.
Great Video! We have almost the same stats! I also tried different kind of sets on piper and I find Fanged Metal to have more damage output. I wish hoyo will add a setting where you can change equipments inside the training so you wont need to quit and enter again. Good job!
That's because anomaly characters usually run Anomaly Mastery instead of ATK% on slot 6 so they tend to lack standard ATK%, this is specially notable here because Piper is getting no ATK% in this setup (the 12% ATK from the W-Engine is combat ATK% not standard ATK% so it doesn't reduce the value of ATK% main stat) but a decent amount of damage % (45% from drive disc + 18% from Piper's own additional ability). But that's not gonna always be the case, ATK% W-Engines (like Piper's sig) and ATK buffs (like Lucy's buff or Jane's self ATK buff) will usually make elemental damage % main stat better than ATK%.
@@renanml2 This is a good explanation. I feel like I missed an opportunity to compare engines too. I'll see what I can do with another comparison video
tbh piper can bring 4 fang and let's her team bring 4 blue either support or stun unit or the other anomally since she already so quick anomaly apply you can assist, apply blue then swap back to piper continue spin. even better if piper c1 cause it cause the lv 1 and 2 to also have a chance of gaining stack meaning she can keep her stack without using energy, such an overpower cinema
@@rinkitorirataki7488 then who did you give freedom blues to? if you read the effect carefully, freedom blues 4pc effect is to reduce anomaly buildup resistance to the equipper's attribute, meaning if you give to lucy, it will reduce fire anomaly resistance, and if you give to grace it will reduce lightning anomaly resistance, piper won't get benefit from either
@@rzkyJR don't know if you play grace or not but her anomally build up is kind of shit, it took more that 3 ex special to build up 1 shock, that 1 full bar of energy plus she take load of field time in the same bar piper can build at least 2 assault.
As someone who is SADLY going to skip GYATT- I mean Jane, for the true waifu Caesar King 👑 and the rest of the Sons Squad (my favorite faction) I this video really came in clutch. Thank you for your work! EDIT: Also for those that are also thinking of picking up Caesar, she’ll work great with Piper and Jane as Caesar actually can rock the Freedom Blues set so Piper/Jane gets the Anomaly Build up perks *ans* the huge damage that Fangs gives! ✌️
@@diobrando6270 well at the time of my post it, the set gave a boost to Impact, which I think was a bit better (faster stun state) the set also always gave shield bonus for 2-piece… The new change is basically the same thing Swing Jazz set gives, 15% increase damage. It’ll be a good set for sure but I def think the 4-piece freedom Blues set will be a competitive set to run on Caesar if you’re playing her with Jane/Piper. Caesar gets EZ access to EX skills due to her core skill to maintain the debuff for Physical. The debuff (as clearly shown) leads to faster Anomaly procs which is the bulk of an anamoly character’s damage. For 2-piece you can always run the new set for the big shield increase or impact 2-piece for more Daze and some shield scaling (but will overall be less than just a straight up shield increase) Edit: to further clarify, I think Freedom Blues will be *at* *least* be competitive to the new set (15% increase to damage upon parry) in a Team with Caesar, Jane/Piper, Lucy. Honestly, for this team in particular I predict it will outperform the new set over the course of a fight. I will say in a “disorder” comp the new set may be better bc you’ll have 2 different anomaly units and Caesar can only debuff Physical and not the other element. So if your ran Piper/Jane with a Grace or Burnice it may be possible the 15% increase to both of them is better than Jane/Piper landing faster Assaults but that’s harder to picture and theorycraft at this time.
I think its better to look out for Physical DMG Increase as it can also be used by other characters when switching things up. As explained by @meukisedeki too, there are a lot of characters and w-engines that can buff ATK but not so much on the Physical DMG buff.
Thank you so much for this video- I've been struggling on whether or not I should leave the Ether/Swing Jazz domain for Fanged Metal, because my Piper's assault procs just aren't cutting it for SD17. Now I know I have to actually go farm it lol
So Phys DMG when running ATK% buffers and ATK% when running anything else. Gotcha. It also seems that Fanged Metal is better against Phys weak (Since anomaly build up is actually buffed when weak) but a little bit less comfortable against other weaknesses
Didn't know Disc 5 ATK% was better than Physical DMG% though with Caesar + Lucy, it probably loses value due to ATK buffs, so maybe Pen% and DMG% will overshadow it then, though that is quite intriguing- :3
You are right with the atk buffs. It's also because I'm Fusion compiler since it's not an atk mainstat engine. Phys% is better with atk mainstat engine like Piper's signature.
Great video ! But i wished i watched it before farming a whole Freedom Blues set for her lmao, i'll stick with it since i have some decent stats but its a bit frustrating ngl I have just one question : is Burnice now a BiS partner for Piper carry (against phys enemy) or is the best team still Piper, Caesar and Lucy ?
Right now, most enemies that's weak with phys are also weak with fire. So I clear faster with Burnice on team. But it's not a big gap, only around 5-10s. So yeah, either team can clear fast.
2 questions, if i may 1) 2:11 how the heck are u doing that lol 2) for weapon, does Fusion Compiler effect triggers multiple times on the spin? technically it should be "on-cast" but since Piper can extend and drain 20e/s, does it count as casting and give further stacks? is that why u choose it over her signature W-engine?
1. Haha, I'm just tapping movement keys fast 'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa' 2. Yes. You're right, Piper extends it's duration when she's spinning so it's always at max stacks (75 anomaly p.) Now I'm not sure if this is intended or not, but for now it works like that. I just want my Piper rocking an S rank engine lol. But I do think Fusion compiler is a great engine since it gives all kind of stats (pen/anomaly/atk). Arguably one of her best for now.
@@andododo nice, that's quite the convenient synergy lol. perhaps unintentional, but hey, we'll take it. (might work with Burnice too wohoo) i've been having mixed feeling with Fusion Engine tho. Technically it does give all 3 beneficial stats (pen anomaly atk as u said). but having the secondary stat as pen%.....i'm not sure how futureproof it is. Like, for Grace, i would argue Energy Regen might be better? although it just turn into another argument for D6 energy regen vs AM vs ATK% maybe they put Pen/Anomaly/Atk all on the weapon so D6 intended to be energy regen? Trying to plan my build for Anomaly team, but they are far more complicated than standard team @.@
@@J_just_J_yes They probably made Fusion Engine's secondary stat PEN% to make Rina better with Grace (since pen% gets better the more pen% you have), this way Rina stays "competitive" in at least one team since pretty much every A rank support outclasses her in any team outside of Grace. Wether or not that makes the weapon more "futureproof", truth is... it doesn't matter/it's impossible to tell, we don't know whether the next OP anomaly support is gonna give a lot of PEN%, DMG% or ATK% (or maybe even energy regen making Grace not want to build energy regen herself), Hoyo can do whatever they want to sell the next character they make (and they will).
@@J_just_J_yes I agree with @meukisedeki, I am guessing the intention was to pair Grace with Rina for the pen% since it's still Grace's engine. For now you shouldn't worry about it too much. At least in my experience in other Hoyo games, S ranks or 5 star weapons still tend to be good in the future since they are generally good statsticks.
@@renanml2 oof that's a good point. yeah guess no point worrying about the uncontrollable future lol. just accept that those 3 stats is (technically) all beneficial.
the Piper-Lucy team gets better, not as good for actually getting guard breaks, but DPS definitely gets better running Nekomata to hit some procs for Assault but at that point you're more using piper to proc assault and let neko do the DPS off of the freedom buff Especially with neko's bonus 35% for 2 stacks on EX special on top of the 35% freedom bonus. I seem to do pretty well focusing on running piper more as a support to stack assault and her 18% spin bonus to boost neko's ult damage and EX during the guardbreak phase.
can you do this video but with pipers own weapon? or is her weapon too random for consistent tests? since graces weapon gives pen% and atk% already it might skew some way or another. Maybe even a test with no weapon? or one of the 3 star weapons that only give anomaly proficiency to give atk/pen/phys more equal footing
This kind of checks out with what I found with Ellen + Deep Sea Visitor, while testing different sets and disks, I tried Polar Metal + Woodpecker, Polar Metal + Puffer Electro, and all the combinations, also with disk 5, the difference is not that substantial on their own, like at max 4k of damage depending on the foe and the situation, in this case Polar Metal seems a bit more comfy... So I guess for now it's more about finding good substats and trying to make a good synergy with the whole teams and their sets...
will you be doing this test for jane (if you're pulling for her) if so i'll make sure to check around the channel just to see differences also (since you already have the sets to compare too!)
@@andododo nonetheless, the info was still super informative. And tickled my "min-max" brainrot thought-worm. I've been thinking which set/stat would be more optimal for anomaly builds. Thanks for the work!
Owo, could u maybe also do this comparison for atk% on disk 6 (w phys dmg on disk 5) vs Anomaly mastery on disk 6 (w atk% on disk 5). Im assuming the first setup will do a lot more damage with way slower anonaly build whereas the latter will mean quick setup with less dmg but which is better? 😫
I think you would lose too much buildup using atk on disc 6. Buildup is important when using the fanged set. Maybe you could take a look at using freedom set if you want atk disc 6?
which set do you think better suits piper subdps in a neko caesar team? I figured it's best to use neko only as an all-in burst on a stun, driving piper or caesar in the meantime. Being full physical assault procs pretty fast already it feels like, but I am on a freedom set rn and not sure if I should keep it on
I'm assuming Neko is using fanged set? Piper on freedom set is the most consistent on every rotation. It makes sure you can do assault at least once. But if you have good energy management, you can try fanged set on Piper too since it has more dmg.
yeah Neko is on fanged, which also makes it easier to finish piper 4pc fanged since I farm those right now, I'm asking because it feels like with caesar, neko and the new phys bangboo team procs assault pretty much any time I get a stun, on a freedom set that is, so I'm not sure if there is room for switching there to squeeze out more damage, I'm not very good at managing piper stacks up and energy, I just try to have enough for EX spin when the stun builds up
Ah since you've mentioned farming fanged set, might as well give Piper some pieces and try it out even without leveling them. Switching to fanged set is like changing to a different Piper playstyle, so my best advice is to feel it out and do a couple of runs here and there. The damage it gives is worth it if you can do the conditions. Tho, a lot of people are saying it's hard to manage Piper energy after switching to fanged set. My tips on energy are the following: - Try to weave in auto attacks if you can. Her 4th auto gives the most energy. - You can stop Piper's final EX smash with a dash, it will save you 20 energy. - M4 Piper gives 20 energy if anyone do assault, even herself (30s cooldown).
@@andododo alright, good info! Didn't know about her M4 energy cashback, it makes more sense now. Will give Fanged a try to see how bad my energy gets and then decide, thanks a lot! I like how you keep her 30 stacks up all the time while also managing energy on a fanged set, good stuff! I got m6 Piper and s5 sig while rolling for Caesar and her W-eng, felt like I have to use her in one of my teams, considering Caesar is my first limited banner and I don't have much to build teams with anyway, Piper is a hidden S-tier
Im curious you benefit from the +35%DMGfor12seconds 4set passive of [fanged metal], irregardless of assult procing again within the duration. But the long as the the anomaly is built up within the 12 seconds damage buff period. For extreme examples You dealt 99.9% of the anomaly bar up with the [fanged metal] buff BUT you proc the "assault" AFTER the buff expires. Won't the assault numbers still technically count as if the +35%dmg applied? Even tho assault was "procced" after the fanged metal peroid? OR is it really that important to proc the 2nd assault within 12 seconds So whats more important frame of view, fanged metal is increasing damage on the anomaly bar being filled or on assault proc? In the end it makes fanged metal still better cause it still applies the increased damage even if its not proc-ed (right?)
You get the 12s buff 'after' you proc your 1st assault. Make sure that you proc the 2nd assault during the 12s duration so that you benefit from the buff. You must keep in mind that Piper's main source of dmg is from assault. So it's really important you can do the 2nd assault during the duration, NOT after the duration. It's kinda hard to demonstrate in the comments, but I hope you understand 🙏
Heya, did some personal testing since others have also asked. Grace engine does more dmg than Piper's. Piper's engine does get better if you have copies, also the anomaly buildup rate buff is nice to have. Referencing the setup at 04:02 dealing 470k dmg with Grace engine: - With only S1 Piper engine and phys disc 5, I only did 402k dmg. - With S1 Piper engine and atk disc 5, it was doing 383k dmg.
@@andododo So at which rank the piper's engine gets better? 3? or 5? i mean getting it right now its pure luck but eventually she and her engine will get a banner
@@edgarrdz8518 I only have Piper engine at S1 so I don't have my own test, my bad. But looking at other theorycrafter's sheets, Piper engine S5 > Grace engine S1. One thing to note is at S5, you get more chance to do assaults because of 40% anomaly buildup rate. More assaults = more dmg, basically. And the buffs you get from both engines starts to even out.
very interesting i guess Pen was Higher only in Dullahan cause he had more Def? since pen ratio helps ignore def so it can help but tbh it doesnt make that big of a diffrence big damage is still BIG ( im using phys piece) 😆
If you want more damage, go with fanged metal. I'm actually using the same team, same engine. The thing is, I use freedom set on Caesar instead. Just letting you know that is possible.
If you can keep Jane's engine passive at full uptime always, then it is better. In most cases, Piper's engine will be the most consistent since it's really made for her.
are you have some experiment with Att% in gear 4 or 6? for example if we change AP in gear 4 with ATT% or AM in gear 6 with ATT% (this way the gear 5 should be using phys% i think).. or both gear 4 and 6 with ATT% and physc at gear 5..
I don't recommend using atk on disc 6 since the anomaly buildup is way too slow. It's very hard to make sure you can proc the 2nd assault during the duration of the fanged 4 set buff. It does deal more dmg at the sacrifice of your buildup. If you really want to use atk on disc 6, you can take a look at using freedom set. The buildup is around the same as using fanged set but still a bit slower. I'll reference the dmg from this video using fanged set: disc4 ap - disc5 phys - disc6 am = highest dmg is 470k (what I use) disc4 ap - disc5 phys - disc6 atk = highest dmg is 531k disc4 atk - disc5 phys - disc6 am = highest dmg is 398k disc4 atk - disc5 phys - disc6 atk = highest dmg is 434k Using freedom set: disc4 atk - disc5 phys - disc6 atk = highest dmg is 410k disc4 ap - disc5 phys - disc6 atk = highest dmg is 467k
@@andododo oh and 1 more question is that highest damage on 4 set fanged set is the damage of 2nd assault that still have 35% damage buff from the set?
so it seems with outside atk buffs, phys slot 5 slightly beats out atk drive (so with lucy) unless there's something else weird going on with the math in the stunned part of the video...
Great video but it would of been even better if you paused when the hits you were going to so we can see a side by side comparison. Was really annoying slowing the frame and manually puasing myself
You Piper mains pushing me over the edge man. Ive been looking for a team to replace my Anton shock and i think i found it...disorder isnt really my cup of tea with the current anomaly units either but Piper herself is very fun to play. What would you prefer as her 2nd BiS? Her signature or weeping?
Both engines are fine. Personally I like weeping more since you can easily obtain an S5 copy of it from galaxy store. It also pairs well with fanged set.
@@andododo oooh I was thinking you should not run an atk 5th piece with it cuz diminishing return but that's my genshin brain. Forgot how atk works in this game thanks
@@luniquerango138 Yeah haha I kinda understand. For the same reason with Fusion compiler in this video, both doesn't have atk substat, so instead of diminishing returns, you actually want to have atk this time.
Fanged set is the pick. If you want to learn more about disorders, I highly recommend Gouba Uncertified's video about the topic. He explain there on who procs who. But generally, you want to build the set with the most damage for anomaly proc if you want to deal more with disorders.
Don't know about specifics and formula but attack and anomaly proficiency is highlighted in orange so those are what I usually aim for wnen building characters. So maybe that's why attack disc did better?
The reason ATK% disc is better here is because Piper is not getting any standard ATK% (the 12% ATK from the W-Engine is combat ATK% not standard ATK%) but a decent amount dmg % (phys set gives 45% and Piper herself gets 18% from her additional ability), so due to "diminishing returns" dmg % loses some value in this specific setup. Elemental dmg% main stats aren't shown on the smaller stat page so they're never highlighted in orange even tho most DPS characters prefer elemental dmg% over atk% on disc slot 5 (this obviously depends on a lot of things like W-Engine, buffs, 2pc and 4pc set effects and slots 3 and 5 main stats but in general elemental mains stats are usually better than ATK%). You can never go wrong by prioritizing the "orange" stats because they're always good, just know that they're not necessarily the best main stat just because of that.
Nice showcase. Im on the fence right now. I dont know if I should pick M1 from the shop and continue to build her or just save for Jane, she look soooo fine (in both ways) but I also love sons of calydon and Piper "may" be on one of those banners, so pulling for an "upgraded" Piper dosnt feel so good. At the same time FOMO its a bitch.
Definitely have patience and pull for Piper when she's in a banner, these games are made to last, no need to rush you'll have everything. I would love to see a c6 Piper vs Jane
Hmm, so im runny F2P Team Burnice, Piper and Lucy, which 4set and 2 set should i use for Piper ? and also for Lucy, and Burnice, can you guys give me some suggestions ? Thanks
For Piper, it's still Fanged or Freedom. It's up to your playstyle. I use Fanged since I can manage the gameplay even for disorder teams. For Lucy, most people use 4pc Swing Jazz. 2pc is whatever from Hormone, Woodpecker, Freedom, or Inferno. Also good to mention, with Burnice, you can use 4pc Freedom on Lucy to buff the fire anomaly build up. For Burnice, just use her set which is 4pc Chaos Jazz. It has the most consistent damage.
Sure you can use Freedom set for pure support. But just a reminder, it only works for the Burnice team. Lucy would still like to use the Swing jazz set for other teams 👍
Ah sorry for the confusion! I wrote the wrong set earlier. I'll just write the whole details, I hope it's clear this time 🙏 What I use: Piper: 4 fanged metal - 2 freedom blues. This is the most optimal and has the most damage. Lucy: 4 swing jazz - 2 hormone punk. This build has damage buff, energy for Lucy, and will give her atk from 2pc. Extra: If you want to try another Lucy build, you can use 4 freedom blues - 2 swing jazz or 2 hormone punk. This will buff Burnice's fire anomaly build up. That's why I recommended it earlier. But I still use 4 swing jazz and 2 hormone punk because on other teams, that's the build Lucy should use. What's better for Lucy: both builds are good, but they have their own benefits. You can choose which one you like better.
Think you could make a comparison between Polar 4 piece and Woodpecker 4 piece for Ellen? There's been a lot of debate on which is better. Western players think Woodpecker is better, while Chinese and Japanese players think Polar is better.
Heya thanks for asking. I've already tried from back then personal testing since I have decent pieces for both sets (both at 65/140 crit). With starlight engine (S5), polar 4 piece is better but not a drastic difference. I think I'm overcapping on atk% already by using woodpecker on top of using starlight in this case. One thing I learned from uploading this is that I should also compare it with different engines. I don't have Ellen's signature so I don't think I can do a better comparison. Edit: Someone here commented, apparently with her signature, Polar 4 piece is still better. But again, still not much difference for dmg. If you can get good substats with woodpecker, it's a competitive set.
@@andododo Yeah, I've been under the impression that 4pc Polar is better since the game launched, but a lot of people have argued woodpecker is better because it buffs everything. My thought process was that it's only better if you have her m2, since her EX only facilitates looping into BA3 because of its crit damage passive and having a higher damage multiplier than EX1, you won't have an ult for every stun window, and you realistically can't max the woodpecker bonus since you won't be dodge countering during stun.
I'll see what I can do! Right now I'm pretty scarce on hormone set since my Lucy and Soukaku need them too, and still not done 😂 Dmg-wise it would be better than freedom set for sure. I can see it working for double anomaly teams. But might be hard on solo anomaly Piper teams since she wants a lot of on-field time. Need to work around on that 4 set duration and downtime.
Can't tell for now. Her demo on the story is pretty limited so I didn't get her kit that much. If you have Ellen, it would be wise to prefarm Freedom since they share the drops. Can also farm Fanged since it's with the ATK set
4 metal 2blue based on the info. You will need at least 208 anomaly proficiency if you have seth, otherwise 308. Disk No.6 is always anomaly mastery. If you pull for her signature weapon then you could use atk% or elemental dmg for disk No.5, whichever is better. Otherwise, elemental dmg always favored.
I find it unfair having the teo sets at the same level of proficiency when the anomaly builds gives +30 proficiency you litteraly wasted one of the discs passives on this test. It shoulf be 312 vs 342 to be fair. Even though the fanged build would probably remain better.
these stat placements looks like zenless needs an overhaul, anomaly consistency should be more consistent, if elemental percentages, proficiencies and pen ratio are losing to ATK% something is wrong
Thanks for the people explaining things here. It's my first time doing this kind of video so it definitely helps me out. Honestly, there's a missed opportunity to compare different engines too. So I'll just try to fill in here. Tho, here's some key takeaway that are discussed in the comments:
- Engines such as Fusion compiler or Rainforest gourmet that is not atk mainstat will generally be lacking atk.

The Japanese voice actor for Piper sounds so darn cute :)
she's the GOAT
wow, ty for all these answers, i was wondering about these different builds and stats for a while now but i didnt have resources to get them and test them yet. now i feel a lot more confident what to get for my future piper/jane doe combo team
Glad to help. Good luck with your Jane pulls as well
Incredibly well-done video.
Kudos!
Exactly the video I needed, thank you so much! 🤩
Pen build is probably gonna be the first pick later down the line when they introduce enemies with higher DEF stats, since the tankiness right now comes from bloated hp pools mostly
Maybe a future meta with character that require PEN% like HSR with Break effect
yea, we can see that from dullahan (which has the highest def) results, where pen ratio actually very close to the other two
I mean, he also used the bat girl for that atk buff. It makes sense why he went with pen
@@Qopa yes? idk what youre getting at
in general right now in the game, PEN% has very little value because, even with the level difference in Shiyu, enemies dont have too much DEF stat
if, for example, a boss comes out that has 4x the DEF that bosses right now, but 1/3 of the HP, PEN% will be far far better than any other type of stat you can get on your discs
@@inokori7146 when you're building characters in games like epic 7, genshin, hsr, etc,
you need a good balance of crit and crit dmg ratio proportional to the most optimal # of dmg%/elemental % and current atk% on your units.
For HSR, if your Acheron has 5k atk and 150% crit dmg.
You will overall do less than a,
4k atk + 200%-250% crit dmg Acheron build in the outcome.
But the thing is, if you have Sparkle who can grant massive amount of crit dmg% on her skill,
the former with 5k atk would do better than the ladder if both had Sparkle as their support.
So your team composition actually affects your end-game build quite a bit depending on who you're planning to pair your main dps with.
========
Which means that if you over-inflated your atk%, there will be a huge diminishing return as a result of only focusing on one stat;
unless you get a support to push up other stats up to make your build look a lot more efficient.
For anamoly in ZZZ,
that may not be the case depending on the developer's future plan to implement more higher defense enemies or not.
But I feel like with HSR, with moc/shiyu getting 300k+ more HP every version,
pen% might remain the same as it is now.
and I could see why atk% > dmg%,
stun multiplier probably works like dmg% bonus in a way.
today i learn that stunned enemy damage multipliers affect assault damage
thank you for giving me a reason to build anby in case i spend too much on burnice and wont have enough for lighter
This video is great.
For the matter of Freedom Blues vs Fanged Metal; after viewing your video and coupling with a little bit of my own research, I made a few conclusions which one you should go for depending on what you are going for.
Fanged Metal: TLDR; Usually better for Piper main DPS/Piper Carry when bossing
Can be better for bossing, especially if piper is the "main" DPS. Also useful just to slap on other units with piper since triggering assault dmg increase is all that is necessary. The obvious weakness mentioned in your video as well is that it needs the assault to work.
Freedom Blues: TLDR; usable in bossing specifically to trigger assault when another anomaly is active
It also can be used in bossing if the intention is to assault to after Shock/Burn/Corruption DoT to trigger DISORDER.
Very good video actually! Hope you do the same with Jane when she release and maybe with Grace
Good job!
I also wish that. I spent more time going in and out the VR room and changing disc than actually testing the sets lol
Dang how is atk % 5th slot beating physical damage that’s wild
@@Young_Mon I'm surprised as well lol
You’d be surprised how competetive attack percent 5th slot is in this game
@@renanml2 ohhh that is so true I even forgot bout that
@@renanml2 This is a good explanation. I feel like I missed an opportunity to compare engines too. I'll see what I can do with another comparison video
tbh piper can bring 4 fang and let's her team bring 4 blue either support or stun unit or the other anomally since she already so quick anomaly apply
you can assist, apply blue then swap back to piper continue spin. even better if piper c1 cause it cause the lv 1 and 2 to also have a chance of gaining stack meaning she can keep her stack without using energy, such an overpower cinema
Except that theres no physical support/stunner/anomaly yet to activate freedom blues effect for piper
@@rzkyJR right now ? piper grace lucy. guess who bring blue i cleared shiyu defend with this team and on second side of physical resist with S rank
@@rzkyJR don't know if you play grace or not but her anomally build up is kind of shit, it took more that 3 ex special to build up 1 shock, that 1 full bar of energy plus she take load of field time
in the same bar piper can build at least 2 assault.

Taste of (Ceasar) King 🫴👑
bad news, theres a new set which gives more shield and team attack coming with Caesar so nope, shes not using freedom blues set.
@@diobrando6270 well at the time of my post it, the set gave a boost to Impact, which I think was a bit better (faster stun state) the set also always gave shield bonus for 2-piece…
The new change is basically the same thing Swing Jazz set gives, 15% increase damage. For 2-piece you can always run the new set for the big shield increase or impact 2-piece for more Daze and some shield scaling (but will overall be less than just a straight up shield increase)
Edit: to further clarify, I think Freedom Blues will be *at* *least* be competitive to the new set (15% increase to damage upon parry) in a Team with Caesar, Jane/Piper, Lucy.
From video I can use Phys% ATK% Pen% depend on which one have better sub stats. good vids
So Phys DMG when running ATK% buffers and ATK% when running anything else. Gotcha.
It also seems that Fanged Metal is better against Phys weak (Since anomaly build up is actually buffed when weak) but a little bit less comfortable against other weaknesses
Very great comparison vdo👍👍👍
Didn't know Disc 5 ATK% was better than Physical DMG% though with Caesar + Lucy, it probably loses value due to ATK buffs, so maybe Pen% and DMG% will overshadow it then, though that is quite intriguing- :3
You are right with the atk buffs. It's also because I'm Fusion compiler since it's not an atk mainstat engine. Phys% is better with atk mainstat engine like Piper's signature.
Gonna change my build right away, I was using 4p freedom.
Great video ! But i wished i watched it before farming a whole Freedom Blues set for her lmao, i'll stick with it since i have some decent stats but its a bit frustrating ngl
I have just one question : is Burnice now a BiS partner for Piper carry (against phys enemy) or is the best team still Piper, Caesar and Lucy ?
Right now, most enemies that's weak with phys are also weak with fire. So I clear faster with Burnice on team. But it's not a big gap, only around 5-10s. So yeah, either team can clear fast.
2 questions, if i may
1) 2:11 how the heck are u doing that lol
2) for weapon, does Fusion Compiler effect triggers multiple times on the spin?
technically it should be "on-cast" but since Piper can extend and drain 20e/s, does it count as casting and give further stacks?
is that why u choose it over her signature W-engine?
1. Haha, I'm just tapping movement keys fast 'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa'
(might work with Burnice too wohoo)
i've been having mixed feeling with Fusion Engine tho. Technically it does give all 3 beneficial stats (pen anomaly atk as u said). but having the secondary stat as pen%.....i'm not sure how futureproof it is.
Like, for Grace, i would argue Energy Regen might be better? although it just turn into another argument for D6 energy regen vs AM vs ATK%
maybe they put Pen/Anomaly/Atk all on the weapon so D6 intended to be energy regen?
I'll do a follow up video sometime soon after I level the other engines. Stay tuned
Thanks for the info. I don't own Ellen's sig so I can't really tell. So I guess it's still Polar for the recommendation.
will you be doing this test for jane (if you're pulling for her) if so i'll make sure to check around the channel just to see differences also (since you already have the sets to compare too!)
Unfortunately, I won't be pulling Jane this time around. My next pulls will either be Caesar or Burnice. Thanks for checking the video!
My tips on energy are the following:
- Try to weave in auto attacks if you can.
Im curious
you benefit from the +35%DMGfor12seconds 4set passive of [fanged metal], irregardless of assult procing again within the duration. But the long as the the anomaly is built up within the 12 seconds damage buff period.
For extreme examples
You dealt 99.9% of the anomaly bar up with the [fanged metal] buff
BUT you proc the "assault" AFTER the buff expires. Won't the assault numbers still technically count as if the +35%dmg applied? Even tho assault was "procced" after the fanged metal peroid?
OR is it really that important to proc the 2nd assault within 12 seconds
So whats more important frame of view, fanged metal is increasing damage on the anomaly bar being filled or on assault proc?
In the end it makes fanged metal still better cause it still applies the increased damage even if its not proc-ed (right?)
You get the 12s buff 'after' you proc your 1st assault. Make sure that you proc the 2nd assault during the 12s duration so that you benefit from the buff.
You must keep in mind that Piper's main source of dmg is from assault. So it's really important you can do the 2nd assault during the duration, NOT after the duration.
It's kinda hard to demonstrate in the comments, but I hope you understand 🙏
I actually have the piper and grace W-engine and i was hoping to get my answer between her signature or grace's engine.. oh well
Heya, did some personal testing since others have also asked. Grace engine does more dmg than Piper's. Piper's engine does get better if you have copies, also the anomaly buildup rate buff is nice to have.
Referencing the setup at 04:02 dealing 470k dmg with Grace engine:
- With only S1 Piper engine and phys disc 5, I only did 402k dmg.
I'm leaning towards that explanation. And yeah not that much of a difference, just nice to know you can bring a pen disc against Dullahan if ever.
Are you using Rina in your team? (I'm coping hard with PEN% 😭)
Sadly I don't have her 😭
This is to much for me😂 so which one is better freedom blues or fanged metal, I'm running piper sig engine s5 and burnice + caesar as a team
If you want more damage, go with fanged metal. I'm actually using the same team, same engine. The thing is, I use freedom set on Caesar instead. Just letting you know that is possible.
i want to ask, is jane doe's w-engine better for piper or her signature w-engine?
If you can keep Jane's engine passive at full uptime always, then it is better. In most cases, Piper's engine will be the most consistent since it's really made for her.
can you do a lucy build tho, that would be cool
I'll see about that. For now, Piper focused only
So probably grace with rina going better with pen ? We have a lot pen buff there
Big yes. It's as competitive as the other discs with that comp. So if you have a good pen disc 5, you can use it.
are you have some experiment with Att% in gear 4 or 6? for example if we change AP in gear 4 with ATT% or AM in gear 6 with ATT% (this way the gear 5 should be using phys% i think).. or both gear 4 and 6 with ATT% and physc at gear 5..
I'll reference the dmg from this video using fanged set:
disc4 ap - disc5 phys - disc6 am = highest dmg is 470k (what I use)
disc4 ap - disc5 phys - disc6 atk = highest dmg is 531k
disc4 atk - disc5 phys - disc6 am = highest dmg is 398k
disc4 atk - disc5 phys - disc6 atk = highest dmg is 434k
Using freedom set:
disc4 atk - disc5 phys - disc6 atk = highest dmg is 410k
disc4 ap - disc5 phys - disc6 atk = highest dmg is 467k
@@andododo thanks a lot for giving me the number, thats really clear my path to built the anomaly char for sure..

How about disorder dame, fang or blue. Which one is better ?
Fanged set is the pick. If you want to learn more about disorders, I highly recommend Gouba Uncertified's video about the topic. He explain there on who procs who. But generally, you want to build the set with the most damage for anomaly proc if you want to deal more with disorders.
@@andododo tysm
does crit/critdamage has effect to the damage? im using atk% with bad substat but i have a phys disc with crit+critdamage
Not really. For substats, you only need to look for anomaly proficiency > atk% > flat atk > pen, in order of importance.
@@andododo ok ty
Don't know about specifics and formula but attack and anomaly proficiency is highlighted in orange so those are what I usually aim for wnen building characters. So maybe that's why attack disc did better?
Never gave notice to the highlighted stats so I'm not too sure. I do know that base anomaly dmg is from your atk, so it being a lot might be the case.
The highlighted stats are what the game recommends you to focus on. I don’t believe it impacts gameplay though.

@@andododo hmm i think lucy in this team is pure support purpose, maybe damage come from burnice and lucy building anomaly, what do you thinks ?
Sure you can use Freedom set for pure support. But just a reminder, it only works for the Burnice team. Lucy would still like to use the Swing jazz set for other teams 👍
@@andododo ._. kinda confusing, so the best optimal 4-2 set for lucy and piper in your opion ? Thanks
Ah sorry for the confusion! I wrote the wrong set earlier. I'll just write the whole details, I hope it's clear this time 🙏
What I use:
Piper: 4 fanged metal - 2 freedom blues.
Oohh boy and we are not even touch the disorder dmg from piper
For jane doe which is better? Fanged metal or freedom blues?
Always 4 fanged metal + 2 blues.
Might also be similar to this. Fanged set for dmg.
@@andododo but it need to proc assault twice right? Then the bonus damage apply?
@@PanPan-ml1ip Yes ideally at least twice. The first one gives you the bonus, then the second will do more dmg.
Me totally not running both as an option with pen as the main focus 👀
can you also do 4 pcs hormone punk please? thanks! & subbed
I'll see what I can do! Right now I'm pretty scarce on hormone set since my Lucy and Soukaku need them too, and still not done 😂
Dmg-wise it would be better than freedom set for sure. I can see it working for double anomaly teams. But might be hard on solo anomaly Piper teams since she wants a lot of on-field time. Need to work around on that 4 set duration and downtime.
Aaaa the pain, she's the only A rank I don't have
is your pipper m0?
M2 Piper
Roaring Ride is her best W engine no? It wasn't until I saw this video that I ever considered Fusion.
Disc 5 may not get much difference, but ATK for piper will be better.
best set for jane?
Can't tell for now. Her demo on the story is pretty limited so I didn't get her kit that much. If you have Ellen, it would be wise to prefarm Freedom since they share the drops. Can also farm Fanged since it's with the ATK set
4 metal 2blue based on the info. You will need at least 208 anomaly proficiency if you have seth, otherwise 308. Disk No.6 is always anomaly mastery. If you pull for her signature weapon then you could use atk% or elemental dmg for disk No.5, whichever is better. Otherwise, elemental dmg always favored.
Atk% in hsr is meh,not bad.Atk% in zzz is just insane.I found having worst crit and more atk to be better for my ellen currently
2:12 HOW ????
Go tap movement keys fast haha
My piper has 5000 atk in combat lmao, I’m playing the craftable W engine
Soukaku + Lucy supports? 5k is insane
I find it unfair having the teo sets at the same level of proficiency when the anomaly builds gives +30 proficiency you litteraly wasted one of the discs passives on this test. It shoulf be 312 vs 342 to be fair. Even though the fanged build would probably remain better.
Ah I guess I never shown it but I am using 4 Fanged + 2 Freedom / 4 Freedom + 2 Fanged for the test if that's what you mean.
Bro got cooked 😂 @andododo
Sadly my only decent disk 5 is a pen piece
Trying to understand stats in this game gave me brain damage. 😂😂
these stat placements looks like zenless needs an overhaul, anomaly consistency should be more consistent, if elemental percentages, proficiencies and pen ratio are losing to ATK% something is wrong
Someone pointed out that it's because of fusion compiler engine. Might have to do another comparison with different engines.
😳
Freedom seems to be better for comfy, unga bunga no planning gameplay, if I got that right
Perfect lol
