- This video is about Waterproofing your Pop Up Camper. I go over what kind of sealant I used to fill the cracks and holes that could leak and ruin the camper.

Don't use silicone it fails eventually. I used LocTite PL and its solid. I think most of the roof/flashing sealers are great. Scrape the old out and clean it with acetone. So funny I just bought some today from Home Depot.
I pulled the corner panels, scraped everything down clean, then put flex seal tape behind it since the old glue was rotting (be careful to not crack the corner panels), applied quality sealant before screwing back in, then sealed the edges extra nice…
FYI- tried rotating the corner panels since one side had more sun damage, don’t do! They are typically specked to that corner… had to pull apart and re-seal the backend.
- + smaller the application hole on your nosel the better for a deeper more secure seal from liquid. (Not what she said)
For trim, take a putty knife around edges to clean the old stuff out (what she said).
Good luck!
I just purchased a pop up this past weekend and we’re going to make some improvements as well. Thanks for the videos and ideas. You have a great channel.
Thanks! We have enjoyed the POP UP so far !
I just bought a 1995 coleman pop up for $350, just needs 3 holes patched up in the canvas.
Yak if you pop off the AC cover you can reach the sealing edges of the AC where it meets the roof. Also is your roof metal or plastic type shell? Thanks!
We bought a pop up yesterday. We are excited!! Introducing my husband to your channel.
I was thinking to use LeakSeal on the canvas, its just a spray on water proofer.
i just tried DAP Dynaflex 230, will see how it works out, seems to set nice and flexible, tube says it will seal gaps up to 5cm. Also that popup is not old at all, barely a baby. Mine is a 1992, and in extremely great shape.
I would recommend a product made by 3M called 5200. It is primarily used in the Marine industry but would work great for this purpose as well. The stuff last for years and it does not crack, shrink or expand. I build boats by trade and everything below the water line gets 5200. It is easy to find at any Marine surplus store as well. Just make sure you have acetone or something similar because it sometimes gets a little messy.
Eugene Weeks and pricy lol but great stuff
I use a rubber sheet it's a big pice of 32gage rubber and used rubber sealant 2 years ago n not a drop anymore
How about redoing the entire roof Fiberglass input has to many holes.busted edges. Have popup.
Marine 5200, can be painted with latex paint after also.
I actually used some of the gimmicky flex seal spray. It worked great on out tag.
The best camper caulking product on the market (in my humble opinion) is ProFlex RV. It's a little pricey but will last years before needing to be replaced. We're on year 4 and still going strong, but we store our pop-up in our garage. If you store it outside, you might need to replace a little sooner. Also, if you want a permanent (and I do mean permanent) solution, look into Eternabond tape. We have a center seam on our roof with a slight sag and a roof-top AC that causes puddles of condensation to form. After using Eternabond tape on that seam, we've had puddles sit up there for a full week without a drop of intrusion. That stuff is very pricey but works like magic.
A bud of mine uses convertible car top sealer on his canvas. It works pretty dog gone well.
Hey there, I'm redoing my "new to me" TrailManor 2720. I'm going to give this stuff a try. Thanks for sharing, Lo :)
Sorry, I stopped listening after I heard you say spray foam.
Our roof was in rough shape, and very, very dirty. After a few good scrubs, (dawn, then. Simple green). I sealed the front corners with GE paintable silicone. Then with a heavy nap roller, 3 coats of Henry Elastomeric roofing paint on the entire roof. The. Finished with a bead of Dicor self leveling lap seal. The roof looks 100% brand new and is going to be 100% water tight.
I have a question, when sealing around the ac, do you take the cover off, thanks
Mh husband and i got a 04 starcraft earlier this year and apparently the this week storm where I live at had caused some of the seal on are roof to come off a and leak water into the camper luckily we caught it and have fans drying everything but anyways thank you for posting this video so we know of a different type of sealant to uses this go around cause apparently the stuff we got recommended from a guy at camping world doesn't work
I’m looking for a used one now we had one new in 2004 and lasted 8 yrs before we decided to sell it. I think if I get a nice used one I my have spray liner put on it if it won’t make it to heavy
This video keeps popping up first in my search for how to waterproof a white camper canvas, however this video does not cover the canvas material of a trailer. I am doing a search because Scotch Guard leaves a brownish tint on the canvas, as the warning on the can itself explains. What would be an alternative? Seems Scotch Gard is the ubiquitous water repellent here in Caaaaaaaanada.
I use kiwi camp dry heavy duty silicone spray for the canvas and the corners and all the stitches. For the top I'm going to use Henry tropi-cool white roof waterproof sealer from homedepot
Geocel 2300 is the best, solar contactors use it all day. That's what I use
How about replacing g entire roof with rubber
lol your buddy gave it to you already maybe i should watch the video before commenting
Do you think this is why I had so much water inside after opening it up after winter? There were puddles and mattresses were soaked. My neighbor thinks it was condensation, do you?
Try Damp Rid in your camper to help with moisture inside the camper :)
So glad to see you getting into RV camping too. My wife and I have been hooked on the RV lifestyle for many years. I do a lot of fishing and we do a lot of traveling. Lately I’ve been really scratching my head wondering if the two really mix well on RUclips. Wondering if I should separate the two topics. I’ve been watching your really good videos for a long time and seeing you mix the two gives me hope. You probably have already learned but you meet the nicest folks camping just like fishing. Several similarities. Keep the videos coming. Much love and respect for what you do and for your service to our country.
What is the name of sealant?
Thanks for the tip. 👍😀👍
never wet by rustolem..
Appreciate the help
What’s your opinion on using flex seal on the roof?
It works. The flex seal tape works too.
geo seal 2300 is the best stuff
Dicor lap sealent is the right stuff to use
3m 5200
lmao.... so click bait for another video... moral of the story don't buy a marked down, on sale, still sitting on the shelf sealent from Walmart or think you're cool and order some 50 cent sealent from amazon and think its going to work.... probably would of been better off with flex seal lol. secondly, read the instructions folks.
LEXEL is the best outdoor sealant.
so where do you plan on taking the camper - across country?
Almost 3 mins to get to the point... Really
Sorry..cannot finish watching..you should have first bought self-levelling silicon...even I know that.
You kinda sound like a butthole.
