Yo, Andy! I went to Mike Maier’s shop this past Wednesday. Took a few pictures of the shop and his collection of Stangs, especially Blue (what a beast of a car). I took a couple of pictures of him and me together too. Dude is even more gracious in person. He even fixed a hub bearings problem/issue I was having…didn’t even charge me. Well, I had the Bilsteins suspension kit package on preorder, but at the shop, I said the heck with it…and upgraded to his JRi’s MOD1 suspension kit package with coilovers, as well as going with JRi’s in the rear. Much pricier, but you only live once.
Good thing too, because his regular Bilstein MOD kits are sold out…and he had only a couple of MOD1s left…so I made the switch just in time…otherwise…would have to wait another 8 months.
Anyway, Mike mentioned you, yes, you, Andy Kruse. He didn’t want to spoil anything, but he says you have some surprises coming up here on your channel in the near future.
I asked if he would sign my glove box in thick silver ink, a la Caroll Shelby…he said sure. It would be a nice tribute to him, especially since all my suspension is going to be all Mike Maier fabrication. Anyway, just a Mustang guy 🐎to Mustang guy 🐎chat.
P.S. He did have my sub-connectors ready, so I took them with me…

Yeah, I'd like to get down to his shop some day. That'd be awesome to swing by and pick up some parts and see how he does everything. After meeting hm, you can see why I talk him up so much in my videos.
Something coming down the pike, I don't want to spoil anything. :)

@@AndyKruseChannel Yes, spoiler free, lol. I was going to post pics in your Facebook page, but didn’t see a LIKE option. It was your personal private page…so I don’t want to barge in out of the blue. I’ll do it in my page. We look like the number 10 together. He’s thin and I’m BIG, lol. His wife is pretty cool too. I also met one of his employees, he was 20 something young…could’ve been his son, but didn’t ask, as I don’t want to be that nosy dude.
Man, that would be fantastic you doing a video at his shop. Oh hell yeah! 😱😎👍
P.S. I met his brother Charles some years ago when his shop was in Hayward, Ca (20 miles from Mike’s). I bought the current set of Bilsteins I currently have in my Mustang from him. He has since moved his shop to Idaho. He’s just as cool as his brother.

A old seatbelt with the metal part on it os perfect for removing, or installing original springs. Lots of leverage, and the metal clasp fits right on the end of the spring.

hughphillips67Mustang When I changed the springs on my 67 Mustang. I just clamped a pair of Vice Grips to the spring and pulled them towards the front of the car .And they came right off.

@lilorbielilorbie2496 that's good. But my bet, that's why you were changing them to begin with. Sounds like they were weak. Not saying it can't be done......but I'm not chancing one slipping and going through my windshield.

Whenever I remove hood hinges or the hood I run some blue painters tape around the hinge on the hood and the inner fender so that I can align everything back up to where it was. Once aligned and bolts tight just peel the tape off. It is a lot easier with two people especially with a heavy steel hood.

work them a lot, mounted to the fenders and with the hood off, took me weeks to get the loosened enough on truck. no springs, i have a fiber glass hood.

I'm not brave enough to do this project myself! Congrats on 20k subs, just noticed it! Car looks great! One thing I've done when I get those dings... which I tend to get a lot is take the spray paint that matches and spray it on a small q-tip and dab it on. Your fix looks good though!

Hi Andy, I am a body guy, just a bit of advice, take off the hood pins for now and adjust the hood first, don't try and make the hood fit the pins, make the hood fit the car then play with the pins later to fit the hood, i have the same car and pins in the same way you fitted yours, there should be a bit of adjustment with the pins, also a tap with a hammer on the pins can help as well, cheers from Dave from down under.

Andy, you really are, not shy about telling it like it is.
Most anyone else, was just gonna edit the chip issue, right out. This is not, a hobby for the faint of heart!!!! You've got to prepared the school of hard knocks crap... The one man hood show, is a doable thing, though that education does cost us sometimes... Done it myself, and had more than one chip!!! Let us know if yer paint guy, was able to "hook you up" so to speak.... Take care ..

Aligning hoods can be frustrating. One thing i did learn was to always take a min to mask the fenders and firewall area so you won't chip the paint when testing to close the hood. One time i had a friend help me and he scratched the fender on my chevelle 😠 😢
