Panda's aggressive baserunning in the 4th made all the difference. If he doesn't take third, he doesn't score that inning. I know this game will be remembered for the performance of Madbum and rightly so. But the small things win World Series'. Baserunning, defense and how about Affeldt coming in and shutting the door ahead of Bumgarner.
You're so right! I remember watching the game being impressed when he tagged up on Belt's sac fly to get to third. I mean he just moved faster than I gave him credit for! So glad he did or else he doesn't score the go-ahead run off Morse's base hit the next AB. It was the Panda and Morse show on offense in game 7 - plus Affeldt, Bum, and the great defense behind them to hold it. I felt like the momentum of the entire game shifted when that safe call was overturned to make that amazing double play.

I don't think he would have made it. Of course, anything can happen; Crawford could have made an errant throw. But he's only about 150 feet from home there, and he has a cannon. (I think he clocked 75 mph on the relay throw on the first double play, completely flat-footed.) That throw gets home in about a second and a half. Unless the throw is really bad, Gordon's out by about 10 or 15 feet even if never stops running. To be sure, I admit the issue isn't whether Gordon is likely to have scored there, but whether he was more likely to have scored than if he held up and waited for Perez to do something. That's hard to say. Perez was definitely hurting. But if he just hit a solid single, he was capable of jogging to first fast enough to allow the run to score.
@@BLT1967too Crawford could've lobbed the ball to Posey and he would be out. Perez probably had ~20% chance of getting a hit. Crawford would really have to fuck up for Gordan to score.
The only way Gordon could score, is if Crawford panicked and then threw the ball 15 feet above Posey's head.
