Definitely one of the most practical that I've seen. Here in Australia I see plenty on the top of backpacker 4WD's, but they all seem so big and bulky. This one looks much more streamlined and compact. Good review Ollie!
I've got the 2.1m have had it for 1 year 1/2, best investment EVER! Only thing is they're pretty rare atm so when your camping be prepared to speak to every single person that walks pass lol. People love it.
Tasty bit of kit there mate. I know my own car has a roof top weight limit of 75 kg. So I'm stuffed. Might get away with putting one of the grandkids in it. Good review. Be good to see you do some more. Thanks Ollie.
For what it's worth most roof bar weights are with driving safety limits in mind. Most can easily handle a roof tent with a couple in It when stationary
If you see the heavens pass by quickly you’ll know someone’s stolen your car. Don’t have to worry about lions and snakes and why did you park so far from the water ?😁. I see you have the shirt and cap Ollie, hope Bush Buck look after you well as this was an awesome review. I believe good things will come of this review, from other manufacturers of other products you could use on your adventures. Well done young fella. Cheers.
Hey mate I haven’t had it in and really really windy scenarios, but it’s been really good so far. Due to it being a nice heavier canvas there’s a lot less noise than traditional tents
Hey mate I just bought one from the warehouse it’s like a thick duvet type thing. It’s pretty good, but I guess a foam one might be better? Unsure. Good thing is I can fold it up and close inside shell so it stays there full time
Hey mate Interested to know how you secured the tiedown points to the top? I have a 2.1 version and want to put maxtrax on top. Just not too keen on drilling right through the top as I feel I’ll go through the fabric on the inside as well?
Another great review Ollie being a kiwi I know we make good outdoor gear in New Zealand could you do more gear reviews maybe inexpensive say what you recommend to wear in the bush merino wool / fleece or what ever alot people don't have a clue I would. love honda to sponsor you and give you one of those 125 postie bikes so you could do a couple of videos on fishing and hunting with a Honda 125 .keep up the great work proud kiwi
Hey Joel, mate anything goes but a good quality rain jacket and warm under layers of good quality merino etc is key. I’m no expert in that field but staying warm and dry goes well for me, so just bringing extra merino thermals and socks etc is gold!
Ollie. Quick question if you know 23 zero just came out with an armadillo in the United States and it’s the same exact tent as the one you have but has less features and considerably more money by any chance do you know if the two companies are the same because 23 zero is making it sound like they invented that design thanks for any information you might have
Unsure on the company. as with most things products get ripped off/copied or the manufacturers sell the same product to different companies etc if not patented. I would consider contacting BushBuck Direct and see if they can shop direct to you which I'm sure they can.
Hey Daniel, A lot of people have alerted us to the fact that the 23Zero “Armadillo” Rooftop Tent looks very similar to the Bushbuck Armourdillo® Rooftop Tent. Without mincing words, the 23Zero tent is a copy of the Bushbuck Armourdillo®. Bushbuck engineered the Armourdillo Rooftop Tent in 2018 and we launched it in 2019. We spent years designing and engineering the Armourdillo® to create a truly unique alloy hard-shell rooftop tent. We’re really proud of it and our customers love it. We have patents pending for the Armourdillo® in New Zealand, Australia, United States and Europe, which means the design is legally protected. 23Zero launched its Armadillo roof tent in 2022. We fully support taking inspiration from competitors’ products and innovations, but replicating a patented product is crossing the line. If you’re looking for a high-quality, hard-shell rooftop tent, choose the original Bushbuck Armourdillo®, not some knock-off. If you take a closer look at our specifications the shell is stronger, durable and quality tested. The tent fabric is constructed with thicker, higher-quality materials. The Armourdillo® offers quality trims, hardware and technology - we have an eye for detail here at Bushbuck. We are 3 years market trusted and tested in AU/NZ. We also have an amazing customer service team that will support you with any questions or problems that may happen along the way. Cheers, from the Bushbuck Team
Just one from the warehouse mate it’s good enough. Could get a thicker one but then don’t have option to roll up and leave permanently inside the shell

Cheers James! Yep it’s nice and compact

Beers Ed, don’t be put off by the roof top limits, once the ladder is extended can load 300kg!
Put 2 extra roof racks to spread the weight mate, should not be a problem on any car.
For what it's worth most roof bar weights are with driving safety limits in mind. Most can easily handle a roof tent with a couple in It when stationary
Hey ollie, what an awesome review mate, well done, great tent, been looking at a few, will be checking out their website for sure!!👍
Cheers Derek!!

Thanks for the comment Martin, glad you enjoyed the review!
Just a short Walk to the sea and the view was awesome from that spot 😊
I'm like bushbuck stuff so far, I got some spearfishing gear, good price, superfast delivery. Looking forward they make a hot tent.
Got to hear mate
How's it brother, just wondering how well the tents held up over the years?
Would be thrilled if you and ‘Backcountry Kiwi’ collab on o trip! My two fav kiwi vlogger!!
What's it like in the wind mate? I'd guess it'd be like most tents and flap around quite a bit yeah? Do you have a video review on that?
Hey mate I haven’t had it in and really really windy scenarios, but it’s been really good so far. Due to it being a nice heavier canvas there’s a lot less noise than traditional tents
Thanks for sharing. How tall are you? I'm just over 6'2. Is it long enough for someone my height? Thanks
hey ollie was wondering on what u use as a mattress topper I have the 2.1 model
Hey mate I just bought one from the warehouse it’s like a thick duvet type thing. It’s pretty good, but I guess a foam one might be better? Unsure. Good thing is I can fold it up and close inside shell so it stays there full time
The floor didn’t look very level. Just my ocd I guess.that really gets me
Nice tint bro 😂
Hi, Just wondering does any dust get into the tent ? Thanks
How do you get on with roof racks when off the tar seal? I have one mounted to pro racks on a triton and it’s hopeless, rattles loose within an hour
Hey mate

What topper matress did you get ?
Just one from the warehouse mate it’s good enough. Could get a thicker one but then don’t have option to roll up and leave permanently inside the shell
Maaaaayte, you need a UTE!
Yep... and I need a shit ton of money to get one haha
👍👍👍⛺🌿🌞
Hope you are safe and well 🤞🙏
Pretty cool but too expensive and my kayak goes on the roof.
Yep not cheap but quality. You can put the kayak on top of the tent as it’s a hard shell. That’s what i will be doing with my kayak
£4000 ???? like f*&^% thats a boat or three kayaks !
Yeah not cheap but well built.
