      Today's Creative Food do you refrigerate your buttercream before frosting your tiers? Also, how long do you leave your cakes in the refrigerator after crumb coating before doing the final coat?

    • @KidsBakingClub
      @KidsBakingClub  4 года назад +2

      @@shelbiegaines6660 I do not refrigerate my buttercream unless using the next day (then I let sit out before frosting as cold buttercream creates streaks when frosting). I will usually leave the crumb coat overnight but if you are doing all in one day then keep in fridge for at least 2 hours to set before frosting - especially if a chocolate cake. Have fun!

    My sister-in-law used to do wedding cakes. She made her icing out of Crisco, powdered sugar, and a touch of vanilla extract. Lol this was back when decorators made simple icing flowers and there was a bride and groom figurine on the top layer of cake.

    How far in advance can you bake the cakes. I'm getting married on a Friday and attempting my own 😬 how far in advance do I do crumb coat? Same day? Night before? How long will it last in the fridge if I do it all. Like can I do it the night before (crumb coat, icing and decorating)? I'm attempting a smaller 2 tier- similar to what's in the video

    • @KidsBakingClub
      @KidsBakingClub  4 года назад +1

      Most two tier cakes I put the wood dowel through both cakes. I transport in level part of the car and usually put a beach towel underneath. I don't box them but I know a lot of decorators who do. If you use a box, cut the sides of one of them down to make it easier to get cake in and out. Also, I use 3 layers in my wedding cakes. Hope this helps.

    Hello! Beautiful cake! I’m doing my first cake next week, I’m wondering if you have cardboard on the bottom of the first tier? How you travelled with it (box wise or sitting, etc) as well as distance travelled as my cake has to go two hours…. 😬

    • @KidsBakingClub
      @KidsBakingClub  3 года назад +2

      Yes, I do have a cardboard round on the top tier. I buy the kind (Wilton) that has a hole in middle so I can put the stick or straw in middle so I can transport. I refrigerate my cakes before transport so it sets well while I travel. I just sit it on a towel in back of car so it doesn't move. Hope that helps.

    • @hollyrichardson7121
      @hollyrichardson7121 5 лет назад +2

      Sthiggs79 I never said she would. Even if it is just a tutorial. It’s a full blown cake. Not plastic but a WHOLE CAKE. She clearly made a cake for something or someone. You can even hear her say “The person who wants this cake...” should tell you she made it for someone. Just because I was annoyed with it doesn’t mean everyone was. Being a cake baker myself and having a child it could be harmful.

    • @hollyrichardson7121
      @hollyrichardson7121 5 лет назад +2

      Sthiggs79 it’s a pretty cake no lie but you cannot say it’s okay. So you can find my comment annoying but it’s my opinion and feeling. I didn’t attack her at all so you shouldn’t either
