Things That Irritate Me About Having Fibromyalgia! | Fibro Chat #6

  • OPEN ME!: It's been awhile since I've done a Fibro Chat video so I thought it was well past time. I've come a long way in managing my fibro, and generally I deal with it a lot better these days, but there are still some things that just irritate the heck out of me. This video is mostly tongue in cheek and a humorous discussion (because I'd rather laugh about some of this than cry) but it's also a bit of a vent and a bit of a rant lol. I hope you enjoy! :) xx

    Hope you all enjoy the video! FYI, I was filming on my old Canon Rebel T3i for this one. Not sure if I look blurry, or just a lovely soft focus, or if I just need to get my eyes checked. I've been having issues with my Olympus Pen focusing so I thought I'd give it a break. Let me know what you think of the video quality of this video. If you all think it's blurry I'll switch back.

    I 👐🏻 applaud you, I’ve been experiencing Fibromyalgia for years and after every test imaginable my doctor says it’s fibromyalgia. Finally an answer but with that comes the bad news, like you said people judging you on your outside appearance. “The invisible disease” I don’t have the ability to hold my tongue, I’ve had incidents where people judge me in 10 seconds after meeting me, I’m too old to let it go someone needs to put them in there place, the ignorance people have. I’m 49 with chronic asthma, menopause, nerve damage from 2 failed back surgeries and fibromyalgia. Sorry I get caught up in talking thank you for your videos they help me.

      Thanks for watching! I appreciate this comment a lot, it's nice to know I'm not the only one who deals with being irritated by these things.

    Really liked this video. I think the same can be said about depression/anxiety with the “I’m fine” situation. I struggle with that a lot! I’m extremely clumsy and have no hand eye coordination too and it’s something that people pick up on a lot which annoys me!

      I think depression/anxiety definitely counts as a chronic illness, so a lot of these apply. Pretending to be fine, clumsiness/lack of concentration, people thinking they "know" what will "cure" or "fix" you, etc. So annoying.

    Im usually a silent viewer however I feel the need to say thank you. Having been diagnosed with fibro a year ago at age 21 and an undergraduate your videos have really helped me feel less alone in this fibro journey. Also congratulations on your graduation !

      I love hearing from my silent viewers! Thank you for commenting. :) I'm so glad my videos have helped you. Fibro is so hard to deal with, and feeling alone is what makes it even harder, so I'm glad I could help you feel less alone. And thank you! I can't believe I've graduated lol. Hope your school work is going well and you get to enjoy a bit of summer vacation soon. :)

    Definitely agree. My irritants are that my hands don't always want to work and the whole finding words kind of brain fog. People can be rude no matter the circumstances.

      My hand/eye coordination when typing or texting is so frustrating. I can't imagine the struggle I would have if I still did a lot of sewing. I don't know, maybe I need to get back into that to help fight it lol. And yes, brain fog makes getting the right words to come out so difficult!

    Thanks for making this video, Andrea.☺️💜
    Despite my watching this way after it was published, it is still most relevant and affirming for me to see; especially being newly diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.
    I feel sorrow that we come up against this kind of behaviour from others, however well intentioned!
    Having to deal with it costs us spoons of energy that we could be using for our own benefit instead!
    With kindness and solidarity, Sharlot✨💜🌻🌱🧚✨

      @@AndreaJSeverson Aww, you are so kind-am glad that we can support each other; fibromyalgia can in my short experience, prove to be quite isolating, can’t it! Here’s to solidarity!☺️🌻🌱🧚

    Feeling like a burden to someone who is an overachiever/someone who feels like they have to get something done every day and I would love to but a lot of times can't or it's so difficult sometimes I want to cry

    • @AndreaJSeverson
      @AndreaJSeverson  10 месяцев назад

      That is definitely a difficult situation. I'm so sorry. Try to remember that we're all different people and it's not a race or a competition. You can only do what you are able to in a day and that's going to be different from one day to the next.

    What irritates me is people who are sure everything can be fixed with yoga and essential oils. Are you said, it's not like we haven't been living with this and doing our research. Great video, thanks.

    • @AndreaJSeverson
      @AndreaJSeverson  Месяц назад +1

      Yes, "have you tried yoga/essential oils?" is so annoying. Like, gee thanks, no I didn't think to try every possible thing. Huge eye roll. It's so patronizing when people act like those of us with this condition haven't scoured the internet for ways of making fibro more manageable. And like, I do yoga and I even like essential oils. Both are great stress reducers, which does help. But it's not going to "cure" fibro and I get so annoyed at the implication that things like that will cure any medical condition. Thanks for watching!
