MADD is to blame for much of it as they started the whole incentive scheme. Much like the anti 2A groups that use grieving family members to play on emotions because that’s all they have. They can’t win a debate on the issue so they go to emotions. Everyone feels awful when innocent people, especially children are hurt or taken from the world however you can’t allow emotions overcome logic. It’s the easiest argument to make because it requires no facts, no solutions, and excuses lack of results in the name of feeling like you are doing something to change things regardless of what it actually accomplishes or what the cost of doing that thing actually is.

This disclaimer is only necessary because of all of the big dummies out there. DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. I DO NOT condone or support drunk driving or any illegal activity. I support effective and ethical DUI enforcement.
Are DUI Wolf Packs pro active policing or are they predatory policing? Across the United States news stories are coming out in State after State about thousands of innocent people being falsely charged with DUI’s. DUI enforcement has been perverted by questionable incentives leading to predatory policing which has resulted in an epidemic of false arrest. It’s time We The People started watching these DUI Wolfpacks.

They do understand what is meant. However, they willfully ignore that and will never be held accountable for their misconduct. However, saying that you don’t answer questions is not the same as invoking your 5th Amendment right to remain silent. Case law has been strict about the need for a citizen to be clear by what they say to actually be protected. They must clearly state that they are invoking the right.
I think that a better statement would be, “I hear-by invoke my civil right to have an attorney present during all questioning by law enforcement.”
Even if the cops continue to ask questions after that point, your attorney is likely to have any incriminating evidence collected after that point as being inadmissible. I’ve only used this twice and it was effective at stopping police questioning. Which is the objective.

It speaks volumes about how immature American cops are that they think Wolf Pack is an attractive name. I can understand why 14 year old boys might think so. But most people mature beyond this by age 20.

This happened to me 50 years ago. Pulled over during Christmas maximum enforcement by California HP. Field sobriety test; allegedly failed, arrested. Demanded blood test at jail.
Blood test negative for any amount of alcohol.
Still charged and at trial DA says CHP will testify to reckless driving . I represented myself and eventually pled guilty to illegal lane change. to prevent exposure to Reckless driving allegation.
No fine. No court costs. the DA just wanted a conviction for his Resume .
This is not justice being served.

600+ sober drivers being charged with DUI here in TN, my son was one of them. 12 hours in jail (lost day of work), bail, 4 court appearances (lost work) 5 1/2 months to get the blood work back (neg for drugs/alcohol), found not guilty, 2 weeks to get the bail money back after found not guilty, $1200 attorney fee, his employer said any more missing work due to trouble with the police he would be fired. Why was he pulled over to begin with? Per body cam, he accelerated next to a cop, how dare he not respect their authority.
