Just about to order my 3rd Qasqai. My first was a diesel N connector. The one I am going to replace this year is a petrol Tekkna. Over 6 years trouble free motoring with both. 100% reliable. Great cars, wish I could stretch to Tekkna again but utility bills have killed that dream 😩😩😩
Just placed an order for the Tekna model, couldn’t quite get to the Tekna + did opt for the Dash Cam as well. I found the drive around our area perfect and smooth my back was well supported and I had no issues with it (multiple spinal injuries)
The electrically adjustable lumbar support and the lifting thigh support make sitting in mine a DREAM. So quick and easy to adjust at red lights if I'm especially achey. I throw the heated seat on when I'm starting to get sore from sitting still too long (multiple genetic conditions) and it's honestly amazing. I wish I had the massage function too but that wasn't an option for me. Maybe on my next lease! I had heard the 19" alloys made the drive bumpy but it's mostly like floating on a cloud, especially since there are no jerky automatic gear changes. The only thing I don't like is all the flashing lights on the dash when I'm driving, like the charging animation or the random orange warning that something is near me when nothing is around. Also, the reflections at night on the door frame/window are really bright and distracting, but I don't drive at night if I can help it as my eyes aren't great so that could just be a me thing. The boot is tiny compared to my old car (Peugeot 2008, 2019 pre face lift with those gorgeous tiger claw lights sadly) though, but I can still just about fit my chair and hoist in it so could be worse.
Had the Tekna one month now, best car I have ever had, on long journeys practically drives itself and the seats are super comfortable more so than the comfort seats upgrade on my X5. One thing I do miss in Winter is remote warming on frosty mornings!
We have this very same colour scheme on ours, the black pan roof finishes the look off. Ours is the N-Connecta model, so no heated things or the part faux leather. On a recent 600 miles round trip of mixed roads we got 48 mpg.
Just bought a year old ('73 plate) N-Connecta. I'm averaging about 55mpg mixed driving. Never driven an automatic until this car and I must confess, I love it. It's like driving a big Scalextric car!I've read some cases of generator failure in a few cars... so I'm hoping for a number of years trouble free driving with my E-Power. 😉👌❤

I’ve had mine for a few months now. Really enjoying it. For my 40 minute drive to work where I can’t get above 50mph due to traffic and speed restrictions I average between 60-65 mpg. On longer journeys travelling on motorways I’ll average about 45mpg. I’ve been impressed with it though.
You could have had a Kia Niro EV for that price, a much superior car. I’ve owned Qashqi’s (OK diesel ones in the past) and the interior space on the Kia is just as good and the reliability is first class. I don’t worry about mpg any more, haven’t bought any fossil fuel for nearly 4 years now. I just can’t understand why people spend good money on the complexities of a fossil fuel burning machine, unless their budget simply doesn’t run to an EV which is fair enough. I live in South West France and have been back to the UK 3 times in the e-Niro, once to Germany and all over France...range anxiety is something in the minds of people who don’t have an EV...it really isn’t a problem, just needs a little planning...the range of the e-NIro is more than my ‘bladder range’...two and half hours in the seat and I need a break...450 km in summer, 350 km at worst in winter is the range of the car...And EVs are just more convenient as you ‘refuel’ them while you are doing something else..like sleeping. Glad you are enjoying your car but hope you haven’t purchased it, as the world goes electric the depreciation on anything needing petrol or diesel is going to be scary.

@@mad4tar77 depends how you drive it. I did a mile down the road the other day and my system asked me if I wanted to update it to a new best of 99.9mpg because it did the whole thing in EV mode lol. Conversely, I did about 20 miles a few weeks ago and barely got 35mpg. I was driving a diesel 2008 before my Qashqai and I reckon I manage about 20 more mpg overall with the e-power engine. You can't just do one journey and base it on that, you need to fill the tank a few times and let it average out. My screen tells me I'll get about 600 miles from a full tank (55l) when I fill it up to full, I probably get closer to 500 depending on the weather. Colder is obviously worse because batteries. In fact looking at my app now, it's saying I have about 350 miles of range left and I know the tank is at least half full at the moment. Sounds familiar. My next door neighbour bought a new Quashqai a few years back, and has had his share of issues. Alarm going off for no reason, other electrical problems etc. I don't think he'll be getting another. Nissan build quality seemed rock solid when the Sunderland plant first began operating, but things appear to have slipped somewhat in the last 10 years or so.....
Nice car to drive ,but sent back to Nissan poor fuel economy, battery full doesn't release any energy until you have driven 3/4 miles, gone back to a qashqai diesel 55/60 mpg
Bit of an unfair comparison going on here. Just on equipment levels alone, I'd take a top-of-the-range Quashqai over a base level BMW anytime. BMW are past masters at marketing, but they don't tell you about the plastic waterpumps, thermostat housings, sump covers, etc., Poor value, but the gullible will always see the badge. I've had no problems with my 2019 Qashqai, and apart from a Lexus, the best car I've ever had.
My favourite car reviewer. Others might be more knowledgeable, more specialized, or even more relevant for me in Canada, but I don't care. Rebecca is perfect. Charming, down to earth, informative, clear, and just lovely. You folks are lucky, but I'm sure you already know that. Wish this E-Power was available in Canada.
Somebody took the words right out of my mouth. It's like the good old Vauxhall Ampera were it had a petrol engine that was used kinda like a generator and if I remember rightly it was in the same price bracket at the time but with inflation it probably would cost more if it just come out now. I remember looking into the Ampera when it came out. Very good looking car and ahead of it's time for sure. Well great review.
@@bikeman123 I thought it was a 50 mile battery range. I think the Ampera was a lot better set up than the Qashqui E-Power, well it seems from this video.
Not really? From what little I've seen on the Honda website, theirs is powered by the engine and switches between that and the battery. The e-power is powered solely by the battery which is constantly charged by the engine.
My friend has the 1.3l petrol one of these on PCP (for only a year) and is already trying to get rid of it because the fuel economy is so bad, because the engine is working so hard.
40 mpg. Is it high? Maybe, but is it high for an crossover with a 1.5l 160hp petrol engine? I don't think so! Cherry on top this one has 190hp,330nm and no gearbox
Lots of Fords and Land Rover / Range Rovers do. I think they pioneered it. MINI also and my old Volvo XC60 from 2017. I'm sure others do. Heard Skoda do it. Such a useful feature.
Nothing like the Ampera. The Ampera had the advantage of being a phev and had a 40 mile battery range. This car has all the complexity of the Ampera and the high price but none of the advantages.
How can a car with a small battery and a petrol generator be a stepping stone to an ev? This car is for those who want the ev driving experience, but are happy to run it on petrol. It has none of the fuel saving of an ev because the battery is too small so the engine runs almost continously. 40mpg is not good enough to justify the expense and complexity.
Just ordered a N-connecta qashqai e power, can't stand the BMW X1 we currently have, awful car and not as posh as the Nissan and is over rated. The ride is like a wobbly jelly and crashes through pot holes
Well the mpg isn't great and the price even less so, why would I be trading nearly 50mpg and more on a longer run out of diesel Kadjar for this? Also why does every car in these reviews have to be compared to a Golf or one of its other German rivals??
Perhaps because the Golf has pretty much set the standard in mid-sized family cars for decades.... Have you owned a Golf - particularly a Mk 7 or 7.5 - Steven?
@@Brian-om2hh I'll be honest and say no but here's the thing like owning an iPhone I wouldn't want to, it's not like a Golf is at better after all the 1.6 TDI was notorious for injector issues and other problems plus the Golf has had its fair share of electrical issues too making it no better than any other car.
Too expensive.. For that extra money you are only saving a bit on fuel consumption and probably not enough to cover the extra cost over a normal Nissan Q.... It should be an PHEV at that price..
I got exactly the same model you test drive here, but was disappointed how noisy the petrol engine is when it kicks in - even when in traffic or slowly cruising. My dealer and Nissan say that there is no fault, so maybe you should test again???. I can't live with the noise!
Mine is a bit noisy if I'm sat at lights and the petrol engine cuts out, feels a bit like when you stall? But I don't notice it kicking in at all when I'm driving. I do always have music on though, but even when it's very quiet just as background noise I can't hear the engine except when it cuts out.
This is the only type of hybrid that would interest me, were it not as expensive, so I'll stick with my high road tax turbo diesel rattly chugmobile, for its pretty decent 50+ mpg and modded driving dynamics, and to be fair, fairly good 120 mph + top whack, where permitted Mrs.
I've got a brand new Quashquai but I will not buy another. Everytime you start the car you have to accept or decline a disclaimer which is incredibly annoying and dangerous as half the time you are already driving. I have spoken with the dealer and this can't be removed.
I would do a remake of The Avengers, with Rebecca playing Emma Peel. Naturally, I would play Steed....🤨🤗😉👍 As for this vehicle, a slightly larger version ( rogue) is sold over the pond here in the states. Given the Renault connection, i wouldn't go anywhere near it. I trust my British cousins have similar smarts. 👍🧐
I've had both a BMW X3 & X5 . Both were bloody horrible to drive & wallowed really badly on country roads & weren't really good value for money! Getting an E-power tekna as a mobility car.
Wow, despite all the tech this car is still less efficient than a 2010 third generation Toyota Prius. Granted, it is larger and faster, but we really need to start rethinking our approach to which car shapes are efficient and which are “desirable”.
So don’t park next to this car in a supermarket car park, or any car park. That rear door being opened by an excited kid, will put a nice big dent in the car next to it.

@@ax3226 I ordered 6th Jan and it was available for collection on 11th Feb, but my current contract needs to end first. It depends on a lot of factors though, especially paint colour apparently. I was told that the ceramic grey would take an extra month over the black for example. Either way, they're coming in a lot faster than with other dealers. Some orders this week have been quoted for April or June delivery. There are some places, like VW or Peugeot, who are quoting December at the earliest for their deliveries, and the latter still can't guarantee all of the spec sheet items will be sent. A lot of stuff has been moved to optional extras, such as heated seats and electric tailgate on the top spec, which is honestly unacceptable when you're paying that much money for the best they offer.
It seems a little daft. My EV takes me to work and back again for £2 per day that's 2p per mile. I also have a VW Polo 1ltr 3 cylinder, that does the same journey at 10p per mile. Sounds like the Qashqai benefits from nothing really.
i have the normal petrol engined car and i get around 40mpg ,best 50 . So I really dont see the point of this considering its more expensive the figures just dont add up. if this was 60mpg average then yeah great .
Yes okay for them that like these slower bigger car pricings but me , I'm out of the race until I get my license back from DVLA due to cataracts and then I'll be saving up for the New Renault 5e which is a must in my book. That Rebecca and HNY.
I have a bmw i3 REX, obviously I charge at home cheaply and get the equivalent of 300 mpg ,now I could drive on petrol only but that would be stupid less than 50 mpg, This car is the stupid..

Shelf charging , the famous nissan con, an electric drive with petrol pollution and expense, the upcoming mazda ev with the range extender wankel petrol engine looks good and it has a plug to save you money...
Nissan greenwashing. 40mpg is rubbish for a pure hybrid. If it was a 1.5 petrol turbo without the hybrid additional weight it would probably average 35mpg, wasted technology just for the sake of a smoother ride. My niro phev is averaging 40km per litre, was averaging 60km per litre in summer. Majority of our daily runs under 40km and run 99% on battery.
Nissan greenwashing? Not totally but I do agree with Nissan's so called "e-power". Don't forget you can choose Nissan's pure EV Leaf, Ariya and somewhere later but not soon enough Sakura.
I'm at a loss to see where the advantages or benefits lie with this car? Unlike a PHEV, you can't charge it up - at a cost of around a £1 to £1.50 - then do your daily commute on battery power alone for a couple of days or so, before popping it on charge again. It can't provide the 3 to 4p per mile running costs of a full EV, along with the convenience of home charging if you have a drive or dedicated parking. You *still* have to rely on fossil fuel, and regularly need to fill it with petrol. Not for me......
Nissan appear to have missed a huge opportunity here. Why, after the success of producing the Leaf for 10+ years, they didn't look to build an EV variant of their best selling Quashqai, lord only knows. Nissan only needed to look at how popular Kia's eNiro has been to see how well it would have done......
What a bizarre drivetrain...! It's not a PHEV, so you can't run it purely on EV for any meaningful distance and you still have to fill it up with petrol, with the associated cost of doing that... It's not a pure BEV, with the advantage of (if you have your own driveway) being able to charge it up on cheap overnight rates, yet it's priced like one...! It just seems to be a marketing 'ploy' for the sake of it. I can not think of any justifiable reason why anyone would actually buy it...! 🤣
"E-Power" but ICE emissions, CO2 and pollution, and full price to buy and to use. BTW it takes only 4 seconds to charge an EV, the time to plug, so less than the time to fill a tank with petrol.
Looks like an overpriced waste of time. I had a diesel Qashqai for a while and it is nowhere near as good as my Kia e-Niro. Having driven electric now for nearly 4 years I really don’t see the point in HEVs, PHEVs and even this ‘series hybrid’ design...they all have one of those old fashioned internal combustion engines with their hundreds of moving parts needing an oil change and prone to failure... I mean why would you want all that complication..!? And the inconvenience of having to find one of those filling stations, pull off the road, pump that toxic, smelly liquid into the car, then go pay €100 or more for the privilege...I plug my car in at home, wake up in the morning and it’s ready to go. A 20% to 80% charge gives me a week’s worth of driving. Just had the 75,000 km service yesterday,...€71 as opposed to €150 and up for the hybrid version which of course needs oil, filter etc. It’s a shame Nissan didn’t follow up on the Leaf, they should be leading in the only market that matters now, battery electric vehicles.

Drive one a few days. So bumpy
Seems to be a number of technical inaccuracies in this video. Are you comparing hybrids to hybrids ? Why would a hybrid not have a transmission hump ?
Be of interest how much road tax is or is there any?
I have no idea what the point of this car is. Runs on petrol to drive an electric motor l?
The drive us smoother and quieter, but you have a point this is much more expensive to run than a proper ev.
Your presentation is great and it's making me want one over my Kia exceed.
Physical knobs and some buttons are the best thing they did there
The e-power is the best nissan qashqai and is reliable vehicle i love this car very much i would love to have one im a nissan guy
I have the Tekna+ and its been back in the dealers 3 times.... the wing mirrors have a mind of their own.... the PRO PILOT had a fault and the steering wheel had to be replaced.... the Auto Rear Brakes decided to activate while driving through the town, so rear brakes discs, calipers and pads needed to be replaced... only 6 months old and cost 50k.... WOW thanks @Nissan..
Sounds like it's still made in the UK by the members of automotive trade unions then?
I have mine for over a year and no problems at all
All of that should have been covered by the warranty but if you say so.....
Nice car to drive ,but sent back to Nissan poor fuel economy, battery full doesn't release any energy until you have driven 3/4
miles, gone back to a qashqai diesel 55/60 mpg
Bit of an unfair comparison going on here. Just on equipment levels alone, I'd take a top-of-the-range Quashqai over a base level BMW anytime. BMW are past masters at marketing, but they don't tell you about the plastic waterpumps, thermostat housings, sump covers, etc., Poor value, but the gullible will always see the badge. I've had no problems with my 2019 Qashqai, and apart from a Lexus, the best car I've ever had.
And the BMW is pig ugly, unlike the Nissan! Actually, I'm being unkind to pigs.
The difference with the Ampera was a) it was also a phev and b) it had a 40 mile battery range. This car lacks both of those.
@@bikeman123 I thought it was a 50 mile battery range. I think the Ampera was a lot better set up than the Qashqui E-Power, well it seems from this video.
As long as it has an engine, I am happy.
yes, pollution is great...
At what speed does the electric is used ? What speed does the gas fuel kicks in¿
The electric is used at all speeds. The battery powers the wheels. The engine kicks in if there's not enough charge in the battery.
Similar power train to the new Honda civic/jazz ?
Not really? From what little I've seen on the Honda website, theirs is powered by the engine and switches between that and the battery. The e-power is powered solely by the battery which is constantly charged by the engine.
What puzzles me is BMW had a better system in 2014 with the I3 REX.
Fuel economy worse than my 1.5 dsg petrol Ateca?
My friend has the 1.3l petrol one of these on PCP (for only a year) and is already trying to get rid of it because the fuel economy is so bad, because the engine is working so hard.
@@reececollison5101 that's not the e-power. There aren't different engines, it's just the e-power. The 1.3 is the dig-t, nothing to do with e-power.
40 mpg. Is it high? Maybe, but is it high for an crossover with a 1.5l 160hp petrol engine? I don't think so! Cherry on top this one has 190hp,330nm and no gearbox
Heated front windscreen? I have not heard of cars with this feature many a year.
Lots of Fords and Land Rover / Range Rovers do. I think they pioneered it. MINI also and my old Volvo XC60 from 2017. I'm sure others do. Heard Skoda do it. Such a useful feature.
You need to get out more son
Fords have had a heated windscreen as standard for around 15 years. It is an option on some VW, Vauxhall and Skoda cars.
A bit like the old Vauxhall Ampera then. Which I thought was good car just a bit ahead of it;s time with a price to match
It was a great car. It also carried a great import tarrif for being US built.
Snap. Yes I totally agree.
It's a tax and compliance exercise. Nothing to do with environment or common sense for that matter.
Just ordered a N-connecta qashqai e power, can't stand the BMW X1 we currently have, awful car and not as posh as the Nissan and is over rated. The ride is like a wobbly jelly and crashes through pot holes
Great review good looking car nicer than the last model, but wish car prices were a bit lower. Would love to see a video of your favourite cars.
It shouldn't be in just the Qashqai.
It can easily work in a Micra, Pulsar and Note.
But they would rather sell more profitable petrol only car.
It's in the note.
40MPG? I'm not so sure whether if I can live with that or go with diesel or even LPG.
Indeed. Pure EV's are unaffordable for many people in these difficult times.
Just ordered my Nissan Qashqai 2023 should be here by June
Great Jacket!
I've got a brand new Quashquai but I will not buy another. Everytime you start the car you have to accept or decline a disclaimer which is incredibly annoying and dangerous as half the time you are already driving. I have spoken with the dealer and this can't be removed.
Ridiculous price , seriously we’re do they get these prices from. I bet you with this future car it won’t be up there with the corsa as a best seller.
Nice if not maybe a bit too expensive for a hybrid car. And I must say, Rebecca you always look so fashionable in your reviews.
I would do a remake of The Avengers, with Rebecca playing Emma Peel. Naturally, I would play Steed....🤨🤗😉👍
As for this vehicle, a slightly larger version ( rogue) is sold over the pond here in the states. Given the Renault connection, i wouldn't go anywhere near it. I trust my British cousins have similar smarts. 👍🧐
not sure about the 'fun to drive go for ...' Audis and Volvos fun to drive?
Like the coat and gloves - well done
Why are motoring journalists obsessed with German cars? Every German car I have ever had as been junk, whether new or second hand
Honda has that type of hybrid for years now and they do it better. Don’t waste your money imo
Love Rebecca's coat, car looks classy, but not as much as her attire!
Now available on the Motability scheme mid spec £2000 2 tone paint £1200 extra £2300 mid spec with glass roof not
sun roof Best paint colours imo only available as extra add on 2 tone options
Pilot and self park are tekna models
I ordered the Tekna, £3199 AP. Bit steep and I guarantee it'll drop to £2399 2 weeks after I pick it up mid March. Really relaxing drive though.
@@mydogeatspuke motability are giving an extra £750 off . You'll receive a cheque after you pick up your car.
@@paulmorgan9455 no they're not. The £750 is actually an increase on the original £250 new vehicle payment, a one off that was introduced last year for anyone ordering a car before December, then later extended to this year. It has nothing to do with the AP and isn't a discount. You would receive it even if you paid no AP at all. Don't spread misinformation.
How long wait
Basta mettere un motore magnetico e ricarichi senza benzina anche
i have the normal petrol engined car and i get around 40mpg ,best 50 . So I really dont see the point of this considering its more expensive the figures just dont add up. if this was 60mpg average then yeah great .
Mine does about 55. But I didn't just throw it down a road for 20 miles and call it a day.
She didn't mention Mercedes, I see a hater 🤣
The new GLC hybrid is crazy confortable (almost as good as the GLS).
Yes okay for them that like these slower bigger car pricings but me , I'm out of the race until I get my license back from DVLA due to cataracts and then I'll be saving up for the New Renault 5e which is a must in my book. That Rebecca and HNY.
With Teslas recent price reduction you can get a Model Y for around £42,000. Who is going to buy this Nissan?
Fun to drive and then recommending Volvo? Komisch, as the Germans would say.
Unimpressive fuel consumption. My Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid does 45mpg and it’s a bigger car. So much for Nissan’s novel power train.
I have a bmw i3 REX, obviously I charge at home cheaply and get the equivalent of 300 mpg ,now I could drive on petrol only but that would be stupid less than 50 mpg,
This car is the stupid..
Just has a test drive, didn’t like it at all and can’t see the point of it.
What didn’t you like 🤔
Had 3 qashqai’s all been good on the j11
chassis, the new j12 has a new chassis and this affects the new poor ride quality.
Get 2 electric mg for the price of this over £40k for a hybrid. The world is a crazy place atm.
Just don't get this car. Stupid propulsion method. Stupid price. Rubbish handling. My wife drives a Qashqai but this will be her last by the looks of it.
No car is worth 33 thousand 😱
Of course there will be cars costing over £33000 - don't be so daft.. . Whether a Nissan Q is worth that is more the question.

@@brendanstorey7005 What a particular car may or may not be worth in 3 years time is neither here nor there for some. Not everyone sees or treats cars as an investment. Some folk spend tens of thousands of pounds on holidays, weddings, clothes etc.....your argument is somewhat groundless.
43 to the gallon , lol why ad the battery , my 2005 civic does better than that ,
43 mpg is pitiful in EV terms. It would have to crack 150+ mpg to come remotely close to the per mile cost of my eNiro.....(3 to 4p per mile)
40mpg in a hybrid no thanks I'll keep my petrol qashqai that does more mpg😂
The design just screams "french guy is nolonger here" they are going back to boring designs...
It won't be a big cash cow if you need to pay so much cash. People will prefer a Chad car for that kind of money.
£33k, I’d rather have a Leaf.
Yes a 10 year old one for 5 grand and an extension lead from your neighbours 😁
@@brendanstorey7005was that supposed to be funny or something? Did I miss the point?
Or a Kia Sportage.......
I wouldn't buy a hybrid from anyone other than Toyota.
To go the trouble of driving only with EV power and still only getting 40mpg is utterly ridiculous!!
Way to expensive!!!! And cheap small wheels no not acceptable! Deserves to fail
What an excellent way to make a Qashqai overly complicated, overpriced and without gaining most of the benefits of a pure EV.
It’s not supposed to be a full EV that’s the point
@@Brian-om2hh full ev qashqai called Ariya, that’s why

Yes and off peak is cheap
BMW🤣🤣🤣
Qashqai is Japanese for 'Can't Drive'
It's very easy to drive. Nightmare to park though. Way too much beeping when you're miles away from any obstacles.
Pass... Just buy a PROPER EV... A Tesla is only a few £k more now... 👍
Not for me - I’ll take the BMW
Why? Just curious
Pointless
Beats me why people buy a Corsa, terrible cars
The new ones are so much better than the old ones
