IU is arguably the biggest female soloist in Korea. Although she is greatly beloved in Eastern Asia, she was said to be less known in the western world because, as she writes basically all her songs they are mostly in korean and her style is quite different to the mainstream kpop. Even so, this past weekend she finished her first world tour including concerts in the US and Europe, which also sold out within minutes.
If you want a similar emotional vibe from IU I'd recommend "Ending scene", or for her more kpopy side there's "Holssi" from her newest album or the older "Bbibbi"
There's also an "Ending scene" cover/duet with V, the guy from the MV which is quite great imo

I wish I could relive discovering IU for the first time again. You guys have just stumbled unto the gem of korea. Fyi, in the world of kpop, its a fast pace industry which is mostly dominated by boy/girl groups which mostly have a 7 year lifespan of enjoying fame, most dont last more than that, if those that do would mean they've really succeded or would slowly branch into solo projects. IU is an anomaly as she debut as a soloist back in 2008 and has been on the top even after 17 years in the industry. As another commenter as mentioned, she isnt as big as other kpop groups internationally but her latest world tour that has just ended showed that her demand from the US and UK is very miuch real, is just that she hasnt ventured much outside of Asia to test the waters. Shes a singer songwriter who writes almost all her songs. Actress as you can see shes the one in the video above and also involve in many great kdramas and now movies. For me one of the best singers not just in the sense that she can sing veruy well but the fact the she understands her vocal tone so well and that her voice brings out so much emotion and comfort when heard.
She has alot of great songs but i would recomment trying out her live stages from her concert that is free on her channel to get a taste of what she can do

IU (the female in the MV) is a soloist known as Korea's Little Sister.
She has been active for 15 years and is phenomenally talented.
V (the male in the MV) is a member of BTS... check out his solo song Fri(end)s.... (the MV was shot in England)... he is a phenomenally talented artist too.

It's hard to catch, but his right eye is blue through the video to indicate he is blind in that eye...that's why after they discover that the camcorder shows them in a perfect light (clean, in neat clothes, no injuries) the woman comes close to him to see his injured eye looking perfect and whole and brown like his other normal eye
It's also why she covers his normal eye at the end, leaving his blind eye uncovered - so he cannot see death approaching them

His eye is a different color because he is blind from that eye. In the camcorder it shows them before their injuries. IU is a seasoned and well renowned South Korean singer and actress (she's the one in the video), you should definitely check more of her work.
The guy from the MV is actually a member of BTS and an actor as well, V is his stage name. You could also check his work, I bet you would be surprised with his voice and music style.
If you probably heard of BTS but haven't checked their sound, it's a good next journey. They have a variety of genres that you could probably enjoy.

V (Kim Taehyung) is a member of the group BTS he has an amazing voice too, check out his solo work Friends and Love Me Again and endless BTS works as they have been together for 10+ years.
The guy in the mv is BTS’s taehyung aka V. IU is a great singer and very popular in Korea, but BTS is a worldwide phenomenon and you should definitely check out more of their stuff as a group or solo projects!

She is easily the biggest soloist in South Korea, and is incredible live. She is also one of my favourite actors.
I would really recommend checking out some of her live performances, especially from her Golden Hour concerts and Love Poem tour.
IU is too talented to exist in this world, it’s almost surreal. She wrote this song and produced this video. She’s a critically acclaimed and award-winning actress, singer, producer, composer and lyricist. The #1 soloist who has the most #1 songs in Korea. IU just held her 100th concert a weekend or two ago - the final stop (in Seoul) of her first world tour in years. V attended and brought a high school friend. They sat in VIP box with j-hope of BTS. This is notable, because both V and j-hope, as well as all but one other BTS member, are currently serving in the military (South Korea has mandatory military service for all men). Only Jin has already completed his; he exited this past June. J-hope gets out in 19 days from today, and the others will all get out in June of next year.
V and IU are good friends, notable since IU is older than him and it's fairly uncommon for people of disparate ages to be friends, due to cultural emphasis on hierarchy by age. V, however, has a lot of friends who are older than him (as does Jin of BTS, actually). V was about to enlist last year when IU contacted him about being the male character in this music video. She thought he would be the perfect person to help her get the vibe she was looking for, and he accepted.
She had a concert in London this year. It’s good to watch her live version of this song.
In the video IU is deaf you can see them using sign language in some of the scenes and V is blind in one eye which is why one eye is lighter which i think he lost sight in that eye due to an injury since there is a scar. Their acting in this was amazing is was like watching a mini film and I really love music videos like this with an intriguing story.

The actor is V (Kim Taehyung) from the biggest band in the world BTS.
The band is composed of 7 members and 6 of them are in Mandatory Military Service . The eldest just finished with his service 3 months ago. Another member will be done this October , 4 members will be done in June 2025 and the last one in September.
V (the actor in the MV) is also a highly successful soloist. He is the baritone of the group and has the widest vocals. He is the only Kpop Idol who was ever “individually “ awarded in 9 fields .

IU has a VERY big media footprint. She has her er own RUclips channel where she hosts her own interview/music show, there are countless behind-the-scenes and making of videos, 17 years worth of music, nine TV series and five films. She'd be Taylor Swift if Taylor Swift was also an award winning actress.
My introduction to IU was in the Korean tv series My Mister. The series was superb, with the actor from Parasite
IU is one of the most famous singers in Asia (she is from South Korea). She is strangely not famous in the rest of the world, although she absolutely deserves it. You should definitely check out more from her catalogue. Also, she is quite a good actress and has been in several K-dramas (which you can see in the video ofc). If you guys are moving into Kpop, I would highly recommend the group Dreamcatcher. I think their sound would suit you guys quite well. A good song to start would probably be Boca. Also, the rock band Rolling Quartz will most certainly suit your palette. Another group to check out might be Blackpink, even though their sound is more hip-hop, I think their attitude and song meanings would be up your alley.
