I used to live alongside the TT course in my youth. It was fearsome just watching the practice sessions and races even in those days, when speeds weren't what they are these days. Apart from the many personal tragedies over the years, there were some funny incidents too. I'll relate just one were a rider went missing on the mountain section. The marshals found his machine on the hillside but their was no sign of the rider. However, it was reported a few weeks later that the mystery had been solved. It seems he had been located in Peel, 'living in sin' with a young lady.

The Warning my all time Favorite band , to me there is no comparison!

The stem thing goes along with playing with click tracks. In it's essence, none of this needs to be digital ... you can have a click/stem tape playing (but why?)... fully analogue. This is philosophically a different discussion. Namely that of fakery versus using tools. Should we be upset that people practice with a metronome or use in-ears? Even with a click track you have to be on time and it is hard to just form a 'pocket' outside of the click like you can when you play without anything and don't hear yourself or anything else just someone else's amp and go deaf... you get the point. (there is a rant in there somewhere) No fakery here. Anything that they perform they perform, and there are stems on top also recorded by them. Nothing to see here. That's my humble opinion.

This amazing group of humans have given me the ability to heal from things I thought not possible.

What's funny is the first tihai you were blown away by at 9:00 as they transition from dadra (6 beats) to aditalam/keherwa (8 beats) is actually a pretty standard "riff" that we learn at a VERY young age. I started learning tabla in earnest when I was 4, and I had the finger dexterity to pull that off by the time I was ten, if not younger (and I'm only an average tabla player). For an accompanying mridngam or tabla player, honestly, that's the easiest part of this performance. Catching all the different offbeat accents and rhythmic patterns is also second nature. This is because both the tabla and mridangam are not just percussion instruments, but also tunable AND melodic - unlike Western drums. What's really, REALLY difficult is jugalbandi - the back and forth at the very end between Anoushka and the mridangam player. THAT is a true test of musicianship, and also an extremely complex (but well-known) mathematical pattern. It fits PERFECTLY in 40 beats or "whole notes" (if you do the math). It's a 13 beat cycle repeated 3 times with a half beat space in between, which gives you 40 beats. BUT WITHIN those 13 beats, you have additional syncopation as well. It's not so much polyrhythms as it is nested rhythms.
