OK. The discussion on singles specialists was possibly the silliest discussion/debate ever. Should Djokavic be required to play mixed and mens doubles. Should all the PPA doubles players be required to play singles? Should someone who is better at mixed be required to play gender doubles? If the answer to any of those is no then the answer is the same regarding a player that only plays singles. On a different topic, what is Vulcan going to do with the old version and how are they going to designate the two as different. No one is going to want to buy a Vulcan ball if there is a chance of getting the old warped version.
It is a silly discussion but one that MANY people and players have commented on. For tennis, singles has always been the focus/priority for 95% of players... in pb, its almost flipped. When the new Vulcan ball is released, I imagine they will stop selling and making the current version and move everything to the updated version. People still buy other balls when they know they crack/warp etc. Thx for comments and insights!
@@morekingofthecourtit’s not a silly discussion. Completely unfair for some players to specialize in singles. It gives them an advantage, which means it must be unfair and corrected. Gaining an advantage of any kind should be banned. So many more improvements need to be made in addition to this one. For starters the taller players shouldn’t be allowed to be so tall. It’s an advantage. They should have to play barefoot and wear back braces that keep them hunched over. Shorter players should be provided performance enhancing stilts. Mandatory playing height of 5’ 10” for all players. Faster players shouldn’t also be allowed to be so fast. Radar guns should be introduced and speed limits set. Go too fast? You get a ticket. Too many tickets and you end up in PPA jail with Andrei Daescu. Also, it’s unfair that many players use a regular workout regimen and healthy diet to gain an unfair advantage over heavier and less sober players like Ryan Sherry. All players should have mandated beer guts and blood alcohol testing should be introduced. All players should play with a .08 to .10 BAC. Otherwise it’s unfair to Ryan Sherry and possibly Martin Emmrich and Pat Smith (just speculating, but they are German). There are countless other advantages that should be eliminated but these would make a good start.
I agree...silliest question ever. What's the problem with being a specialist. Some people are great at gender doubles, but suck at mixed (Collin Johns)... some people are right side specialists (Matt W.), some are left specialist (Ben Johns), some are singles specialists, some are all round specialist (Anna Leigh) I don't see an issue.
Will Singles Specialists be able to make a good living at Pickleball ? Will PPA sign them ? Will MLP ever draft them? Watching Pickleball Pro Singles is a bit like watching or at least more like watching Pro Singles Tennis than any of the other divisions of Pro Pickleball. So maybe viewers will just watch Pro Tennis Singles instead……… But if these same players are also in mixed and gender dbls, then there’s more interest to follow them to see how they do in Singles.
9:33 - Fed used the Alpha, it's gen 3. 10:30 - There are Alpha's for all shapes, not just Tyson's. 13:10 - How is that not "fair" lol imagine complaining about tennis dubs players specializing in dubs. 14:40 - Howells? He's the worst example you could have come up with. He's a 6.4 in dubs. He's literally in premier. 16:44 - The hooking was one way traffic, not back and forth. ALW hooked Salome at least 3 times before Salome's match point.
The Stanley call was terrible. The ball was out. From where Stanley was standing he could not see the ball. I think that Leigh Waters plays the refs to get favorable calls for ALW
With the paddle submission thing. I do get it, but why doesn’t that logic apply to let’s say a super gritty paddle? Or a hot paddle that would fail deflection? If those paddles have passed those would be cheating as well. Honestly since it was a first time offense, I think it shoulda been a slap and then drop the hammer if it happened again. The conflicting stories definitely didn’t help though.
On a recent episode of the Tennis Sucks podcast, Daescu claimed that he had been using the same Proton paddle for many months. He made it clear that he wasn’t talking about the same model - he meant the exact same paddle. Why would he submit more than 2 paddles for testing in that case?
Even if I have a paddle that I have been playing with, I still get multiple tested just in case one fails or gets damaged for any reason while playing.
17:30 OUt call in the Davidze/ Waters match. Much as I don't like Salome, I have to totally side with her on this one. She had appealed to Don Stanley multiple times for a judgement on out calls by Waters, and every single time he said he didn't see it and couldn't overturn the call. Then when Salome called the ball out (and it was clearly out) he immediately overturned her call without even being asked. Frankly, it looked very much to me like h had a grudge against Salome.
The fine/suspension is almost certainly just what he makes for that 60 days. So they suspend him 60 days and the fine is just they don't pay him for that 60 days. He probably makes 300k/yr - 60 days makes the math for 50k work.
5:40 Stuck in the mud. Back in the early 2000's 's I drove a limousine for some social elites to a yearly outdoor festival for the very wealthy supporting some charity. There were dozens of valet parkers, and hundreds of caterers and other types of service personnel there, to take care of more than a hundred of Dallas's most richest and most generous philanthropists- and it rained like hell that night. Dozens of high dollar cars got stuck in the mud overnight, some for days. Valet attendants got soaked and muddied the interiors of the cars of the people who insisted on getting theirs out of the quagmire. Even some of the most prominent citizens of Dallas got into the act, and got totally muddy and a couple even stuck in the mud going to get their own vehicles, and had to be helped out of their shoes and walked across the muddy field. It was a total fiasco, but nearly everyone seemed to take it in good spirits and even laughed about it afterwards. It was an event suitable for a farce movie.
How is the Daescu situation any different from having a stack of 10 Joola Gen 3 that didn't pass? If one of the illegal paddles had passed, you don't think someone would have used it?
Did you guys listen to the RUclips after the men’s doubles game, Matt and Dekel vs Ben and Colin, you can hear Matt say, “I couldn’t over rule my partner”, you may want to talk about that!
Watch and love the podcast! I live in a large pickleball community in SC and we are doing a Pickleball social charity event supporting Altzheimers would you be willing to donate any items from signed balls to KOTC stuff? Anything would be great! Thank you and keep up the great work! I havent missed an episode!
Seems Ben and Collin are on their way to splitting up. Where was Collin during Ben's singles final. Isn't he normally on the bench? Not to mention too many losses.
Sure you could. But you wouldn't be supporting a Pickleball-dedicated company and tbh, many of Stack clothes I like the aesthetics and even the quality more than some of Lulu's stuff.
It's Ben's decision to play all 3 events , as it's other player's decision to just play singles. If Ben or other players think that this is not fair, then they should play less events. The type of whining should not be entertained, be professional and live with the consequences of your decisions.
C’mon Jimmy, regain some credibility and finally put Lea on blast for being the biggest cheater in the game. Yeah, we know you hate Salome, but she’s not even close to being the biggest hook compared to Lea & ALW.
Funny you mention ALW and CP but crickets on a way worse call in that match when ball hit Fahey on the foot in the air and AB calls it out. Fahey who knew it HER FOOT CLEARLY when she saw AB call it out went to crickets like you Jimmy.. How could you mention that one call that Tyler who was there saw that ball out on the AB CP call. I guess not so clearly as you say Jimmy. You can never call a ball in our out def for a line call from the angles PPA shows their stupid replays. But AB was NOT a judgment call just a simple ball hit her partners foot in the air call. Talk about Hooking?
I hear Joola may be filing a $45 million dollar lawsuit against the USAP. I hope so, this is long overdue!. What independent body is overseeing the USAP testing model, holding them accountable, making them more timely, more responsive to their clients? The USAP is the problem! They have no transparency, and no accountability, they're a black hole. Who is the third party tester, what is their company name, what are their qualifications, what is their track record, years in business, customer list, customer references, what scientific equipment are they using, where are their detailed, published, scientific test results for each paddle tested? The USAP collects too much money, tens of millions of dollars, to be shrouded in such secrecy. Sunlight is the best disenfectant. Pickleball is going soft with all this talk about injury, liability etc. There's a simple solution, wear protective eyewear, when compared to paddle prices, this is a simple, cheap solution. Don't dumb down pickleball more then it is. Be progressive, continue to evolve, keep an open mind, remember your viewers.

Thank you so much for using the ball holder. Watching you both try to put the ball down and it rolling away was driving me crazy 🤪
lol. we love it as well! Thanks for watching.

It really makes zero sense to try and limit singles specialists.
Fully agree.
Finally a ball holder! I commented on that MONTHS ago, wanted to put together a clip of nothing but yall messing with the ball 😂
hahah, you should still do that, that would be epic. Thanks for watching.

Can't wait to see Tyler in Sacramento!
Kyle Selinco, boxcar productions has a 240 frames per second camera for replays. Get him on your pod. That would fix the hooking problem.
Jimmy the "soul stealer" STACK needs a "cup pocket"😆The CHUCK is solid ball.
Check Stack out!
Wish my friends would play with the Chuck, they don't like fast ball.
@@rdelnaja2558 Hoping the CHUCK stays true when temps come up here is SoCal.
When is the PPA going to use technology to make line calls?

Yeah this other comment hit it on the head. Just to be safe to account for any unforeseen issues

LOL 51:42 I love the Mixed Doubles pairing of M.Wright and "R" Newman. Freudian slip???? I always see that as Matt Wright....not Etta.
LMFAO Jimmy using FUBU to advertise stack is fkn hilarious. He's trying so hard to not look at Tyler. Struck me funny I love you guys

Good to see Ben send his brother out of town for this next tournament.
What a beautiful kitchen
Chris Hayworth did not beat Ben with gear box pro power he used the control paddle which is totally different
You might remove the dish rag off the faucet next time. 😂😂
Exactly- Access to AC in TEXAS is worth a bad call.
Just moved to Texas from Sacramento area (Nevada City)....it'll be hot, but dry. But also, it's a S-hole. LOL

Pro’s on their phones looks unprofessional. You don’t see any other racquet sport pros on their phones.
1000% agree... not even racquet sports, ANY other sport you won't see that.

Ben needs to get a lefty partner...any suggestions?? 🤣😂🤣😂
Mat Wright is doing great because he is rid of his cancer which was Riley Newman.
