Hey Halley, can relate. I agree art is less about perfectionism, and I think it is more about being free. Creating without fear of judgement of others. They judge anyways, and not everyone will like it. (Some people make it a hobby to dislike things to distract themselves) And trying to be liked, and acting (and doing art) how you think it will be liked, is a tiring way to live. It truly is about not caring about that, but trusting. In your route to growth, in yourself. I believe there's something inside of us we should trust, that is showing us our route.* Which is important in art and life. And like most things worthwhile, this is not easy. I can tell you I have no doubt you'll continue growing as an artist (not meaning numbers - those will rise too - but your art in itself and your way of expressing it and you). You've got a good attidude and are going your own way. *that was a wordy explanation for trust your gut feeling :D
Thank you so much Chris, it means a lot! This video was not only to encourage people, but kind of a reminder to myself to keep doing what I like! Obviously I need to think rationally (this is my job after all), but it's important to be yourself if you want to enjoy it fully, even in those low inspiration days! Fun fuct, I didn't really like how these sketches turned out 100% and I literally was about to refilm this! That would have defeated the purpose of the video 🤣those are JUST SKETCHES after all, and they are fine as they are, it's just me being a perfectionist! 😊
@@Halleyvision Glad you posted it, i like the video how it is! For sure! Being a perfectionist isn't anything bad too. Every weakness can be a strength, and the other way around (lots about viewpoints and when to use what). When art and money is involved, i think, it's fine to do what makes money (we all gotta live). In this case, i just think it is important to keep the mind focused, on the long term goal (which can be art related or not), and also doing "side quests" / projects where you can be totally free. I really like seeing your sketches btw!
I like sharing my drawings on TikTok, but less so on Instagram. I feel like I’m stagnating and that no one is really seeing my account 🙂↕️ ( love your art ❤)
I understand completely, Sophie. It's hard not to think about the numbers, that is the reality we live in after all. To be honest, Instagram was and still is a hard platform to grow in and today, to new artists I would suggest to start in different social medias, like TikTok as you mentioned or RUclips. RUclips even more, since it is a very complete platform with short/long form content and even posts! Whatever platform you choose though, remember to do it because you love it and not because "you have to"!💜
I have been feeling like I’m not good enough lately. This has helped me to feel better. I’ll keep creating and posting on instagram. I want to create videos too. Just worried about what others think.
