  • New Helvetia AKA The Bricks. Sacramento's Oldest Housing Projects built in 1941.
Located on the Northern end of the Upscale Land Park Neighborhood the projects have been a source of controversy over the past few years as the city looks the renovate them causing long time residents to fear being displaced.

It's unbelievable that every single curb is an emergency parking only.

I've driven past here a few times, this project reminds me of some council estates back in England where I come from, maybe not quite so sunny there though 😎

They need to build more of these places. Homeless population would go down. But since the developers are buying all the land around the homeless for cheap and chasing them off to build big money projets they wouldn't be where they need to be. People from Bay Area come and buy houses in was has always been know as the bad area's and get freaked out because they didn't do there research 😂. Obviously don't live close to light-rail. Anyway they can't afford to live out there where they work and it's cheaper to buy a house in the poor neighbors, but has made rent as expensive as nice neighborhoods and increased homelessness. Most people out on the streets would kill to live in a place like this.

The bay is Hella big and incorporates so many cities tho. Sac is its own thing. Its just people from the bay are generally clueless about Sacramento in general. They see newly built Natomas and Elk Grove and think that's all of Sac and everyone is a suburban gangster. Sac is/was a small city for the most part until recently you can't compare it to the entire bay area which is a huge megaregion. Gparkway was torn down in 04 and rebuilt it doesn't look like before. They were townhouses but half of them were abandoned dope houses. Alot of Sac is townhouses and fourplexes, low-income apartments. SF/Oakland has more extremes but sac is just lower-middle class pretty much everywhere that's what makes Sac and the Valley different. The bay may have "real hoods" but it also has exclusive rich AF neighborhoods that sac doesn't have. The bay in general is more wealthy, clean and beautiful than it is hood but the hoods are hella bad. People from the bay who say Sac don't have real hoods remind me of cats who say Frisco is all fags. Both just don't know imo.
