Dreamcast really was the gift that keeps on giving. I never knew about these ads or Hidekazu Yukawa but this is just another reason why I’m so glad I grew up with a Dreamcast. Arigato Gozaimasu Hidekazu Yukawa-san 🙏🏻 RIP
Man, these commercials are gold. I wish I seen this back in the day, but glad I got to now. He kinda reminds me of the dad in Incredible Crisis with his luck.
This is really heart broken commercial.... Although i spend my childhood with playstation... I wished if i also did the same with sega saturn and dreamcast... Now as retro player... I have both saturn and dreamcast...and start collecting some games for them... Never be late...
I'm so glad I bought a Dreamcast at launch. The only problem was I was into the import scene while territory lockout was still a thing. I still have my launch day DC. I also had the launch Xbox instead of a PS2 as Sega games were exclusive to them at the time. I still have JSRF, and Panzer Dragoon Orta.. I sadly let go of Gunvalkyrie, but I'm probably going to repurchase on my next trip to Japan.
These ads hit hard when you view them as the transition from the cocky 'cool kid' Sega of the early to mid 90s to a completely humbled Sega after the Saturn.
Now, maybe this is just the result of me not being some master genius at marketing, but I feel like having a bunch of commercials that say people don't want the Dreamcast, isn't going to move units. That being said, I love how the first commercial is basically a proto-Yakuza in tone.
What do you expect from a bunch of people who can't do anything on their own without their senpai's approval lol As long as someone "above" you approved it, it's daijoubu A country stuck in an inescapable nosedive.
nah, it eventually became Yukawa apologizing for not having enough units in stores, which is a pretty awesome and bittersweet way to end these commercials
I loved the Dreamcast. Although I loved the PS1, I hated the PS2 for killing Dreamcast, and I never gave its expansive library its due respect or time, and I never will. The spirit of Sega died with the Dreamcast. Rest in peace.

This style of advertising was unique for games at the time, more personal and tells an actual story

These commercials were audacious, funny and creative. Far from the cliché console commercials we have in the west

I swear 90% of the commercials are like Easter eggs that happened in later Yakuza games....
RIP Oyabun
LOL. There are so many things that don't translate well across cultures but these ads are brilliant.
I feel like I would love commercials in the west waaay more if they had a story arc like this!
We lost one of the most talented entrepreneurs in all of SEGA and the industry 😔

@@jayroi1814 At least with the Saturn, their commercials implied you should buy it or Segata Sanshiro will throw your ass so hard it explodes.
@@jayroi1814 LMAO

PS2 didn't kill Sega.. Sega themselves with their poor decisions and infighting caused their fall
1st Commercial: Problem
2nd Commercial: Dream
3rd Commercial: Good News
Reposez en paix Monsieur Sega 🙏
At least they come up with something new and didn’t mocked Mario is these
Rest in Peace!
