The movie takes place at hill country. The tamils presented in the film are indian tamils aka hill country tamils, not sri lankan tamils. Tamils in Sri Lanka are divided into three groups.
1) Sri Lankan tamils who live in north and east and across the island since the 2nd century They consist of a caste system.
2) Sri lankan moors who live in north and east.
3) Hill country tamils aka indian tamils who came during the british period. They live in central Sri Lanka. They are mostly Dalits who work tea plantation. They do have a caste system.
