It's one of the reasons why Nakiri Erina's voice got replaced by Kanemoto Hisako onwards and kept her as role instead of Taneda Risa. To be fair not too sure either, but her throat case might also be a reason why Strike the Blood went into OVA mode instead of TV-serie, but I don't have any concrete source to proof that theory.
