Hello to everyone from Toronto Canada!!! I love you show! I’ve been to London & rode all over the Tube in 1974. Our hotel, the Central City Hotel was near Old Station. I can’t find the hotel anymore but at least the station is there. We were back in 2018 but didn’t have time to visit the the museum. I’m like all of you & would love to go on the tours. Keep up the great work!!!! 💖💖💖💖🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Thanks gang, another wonderful episode. I wasn't expecting too much but it escalated quickly...
I love the thought of buying some original tiles in the museum shop, and visiting the new corridor when it's open. Great stuff.

Excellent tour, if only I knew about this when lived in Knightsbridge c.1983-85, I lived near the old Brompton Road station. Will look forward to seeing part as soon as possible.

    Hi all,
First: brilliant episode as usual. Can't wait for Part 2. Now on to the tiles. I agree, I am astounded that there is or are a lot of original tiles that by now in other stations would have been removed or be too grotty to get anything.
    and
Second: for me as an observer the ultimate LU line has to be the Jubilee line. It has the following:
Stanmore-Finchley Road = Classic Metroland stylings
Swiss Cottage-Green Park = Classic "Tube" station stuffs
    Westminster-North Greenwich = 21st Century "Tube" futurism
Canning Town-Stratford = Modern urban rail coolness
So for me, a little something for everyone out there.
    Regards,
    Aaron, Lancashire.

Such a shame they used that ghastly metal cladding for the platforms covering up the 1930's tiles though.

Thanks for both the Knightsbridge episodes. I used to work in Knightsbridge so used the station frequently. Always wondered why it felt like a miles walk from the Harrods Knightsbridge station entrance to the platforms. I guess that’s because the Harrods entrance wasn’t the original. I have now bought a piece of bronze and I suspect I’m going to want tiles. Not sure I can afford to watch future episodes 😊.

None of you wanted to ride the Met line into the depths of the Home Counties? So disappointed…
Another great episode … sorry I’ve not been around the last couple of weeks … but back now! Great couple of episodes, too, over the last weeks - and that was a ‘frame’ in the comms room you stumbled across a couple of weeks ago … yes, not only a train geek but a telephone geek as well (I used to work for BT) …

Looking forward to part 2 tomorrow! Question regarding the escalators, when all of the old wooden escalators were replaced, were they able to use any of the original mechanical elements, or did they just have to start from scratch? I'm guessing the ladder as most of that equipment dated back to the 20s and 30s.

The Westbourne flows in an aqueduct through Sloane Square station.
The Fleet used to cross the passageway from St Pancras to the Underground, before the redevelopment of St Pancras. The passageway used to go down a slope, under the Fleet (which was in a pipe) and up again.

@@alisonjperry6291 there's loads of sewage and water mains pipes under the road around here. When the One Hyde Park entrance was opened it had to have a kink in it to avoid some of that trunking.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve described something as tarty in the past couple months since Siddy sweetly praised this particular look at me style this way. It doesn’t sound as fab in my American accent, but I’m giving it a go nonetheless.
