Why are the drive motors so loud on the D3? The 259 D3 I have has a really loud whine to it,enough that it will give you a headache after a short time. The 18' 259 I have has very quite drive motors.
@@1rutcutter I commented on your other video you had posted a while back. My cat salesman was at the house today and we made a call to a guy that has factory connections. The problem is the plastic block that the drive hoses go through before disappearing under the cab. The plastic is too hard and bolted directly to the steel and the hydraulic noise is amplified. While Ive known this for a while I finally got around to removing mine from the machine totally and am happy to say the machine is whisper quiet, quietest machine I have ever been in........zero drive noise what so ever. The only problem with removing is now dirt and debris can find its way under the cab like the older machines. In the meantime I am going to make a rubber gasket to put between the plastic hose block and the frame to act as an insulator and see if this keeps it quiet. Cat has been working on it and havent been successful just yet but the man we spoke to today assured us it will be taken care of sooner rather than later. If you want to remove them for now it only takes about 10 minutes. It comes apart in layers, remove the first 2 layers and leave the last one bolted to frame. This will allow hoses to not be rested against the frame anymore and you wont believe how quiet the machine is,........its a total transformation. There is no danger to the hoses like this, no more than they have on any other machine so while waiting for cat to release the final revision of their fix this is an option that works
Hi Richard! If your Cat 287 multi-terrain loader does not have a letter series then it would be from the first series of that machine, which was in production from 2003-2004. If you'd like to provide the machine's serial number we can confirm production date for you. - Dani
They only make the 257 and are phasing them out. I went to buy one and my Salesman literally talked me out of one and into the 259. He would have made about 6k more selling me the MTL. Basically high maintenance
@@brandonszymanski4797 Thanks, Brandon. Just stumbled into this! Forgot I had posted. Love my MTL. Use it for trail building and land maintenance. When I trade in - not sure what to do ?!!?

What happened to the MTL?
They still have them, not mentioned here for some reason but they got them.
