The California Dream Is DEAD.

  • What the hell happened to California???
California! This state had it all people. The glitz, the glamour the awesome weather. It was easy to see why so many people flocked here for the last 100 years. I mean look at the place. It really is probably the prettiest of all states with the coasts and the mountains and deserts.
And the economy here has been booming too - you know with the tech boom in the bay area, the agriculture in the central valley and all that is in southern california with more tech, banking, arts and entertainment, transportation and of course, TOURISM.
The health care system here is pretty good, a lot of people make a lot of money and the weather here is pretty darn good. It’s the most populous state and can be considered the world’s 5th biggest economy.
    So what’s the problem?
A LOT is the problem. Today’s California is not the same California from before. We’ll hear it from the people who live there eventually, but you don’t have to ASK people from California why it’s become such a lousy place to live. Just look at what’s happening there.
That’s what this video is about. How the California dream has become the California nightmare. Lots of people are leaving here now, and you could say California is never going to be the same again. I grew up in California and I left 11 years ago, and when I go home, I’m reminded of WHY I left and glad I made the decision to flee California for good. Let’s take a look at why the California dream is dead.

Teach those selfish greedy homeowners a lesson by raising property taxes! If they're actively fighting to limit the supply of affordable housing because it devalues their property appraisals, then these homeowners should have no problem paying their fair share in property taxes!

Hey Nick, do you ever consider how the food is affecting the way people function? Why don't you include more of agricultural issues of California? The state has done monocrops for so long thats the reason why the land has all become barren. The herbicides and pesticides and agrochemicals and animal rearing has what ruined it. Organic diverse crops and growing rotationally is what will fix california's farmland and the world's farmland.

The issues with California are by design. They want to depopulate the state because they no longer can support it (water, energy, transit). Horrible administration is their way of doing it since they can't forcibly remove law-abiding people anymore. Californians still think that trying to vote for good candidates will improve things. This is not a democrat-republican issue since if there were republican leaders, the end elitist goal would still be the same. The system is rigged and the goal is for multi-millionaires and billionaires to remain and to take the state from the middle class. They possibly want to depopulate the state by 75% to post-WW2 level.

I've lived in L.A. all my life and its so sad to see what it has become under such poor political leadership. Politicians refer to it as a housing problem, but it's really not. Most of the vagrants living on the streets are either drug addicted or mentally ill and don't even want to be housed. They need to be treated, not housed. The city has started buying up old motels throughout the city and sticking them in hotel rooms, but that's merely a Band-Aid and doesn't even begin to solve the actual problem. Have you noticed that local politicians have already spent billions - and keep asking for more money - for homelessness, but the problem keeps getting worse, not better? That money feeds the "Homeless Industrial Complex," which keeps sucking up the big bucks while nothing is being done. And the amazing thing is that voters continue to vote for the politicians that created the mess that California has become. Wake up, people.

I haven't been able to fully put all of what has been wrong here into words, so this video really helped me to understand why I have been so miserable. People are stressed and as a result aren't very kind, the homeless situation is scary as hell, I spend 60% of my paycheck on housing and feel like I can't call the police about anything because it is known that they won't do anything to help you. Grew up in Marin County, it was a real fun place to grow up and it was clean, we all enjoyed nature and the beauties of the land and ocean. Now, in my sixties, I am in Oregon, yet I thought I wanted to return there, but now it frightens me, and I am upset how the homeless has taken over so much making it so gross and unhealthy. I wouldn't feel safe there at all, but I am hurt to see what has happened to the state that I grew up in and both my parents families and grandparents helped to create so to speak. But now, my grandfather would roll over in his grave to see how ugly it has become. They had the good life then, but now, it is just the opposite. What a time.

Nick, u should touch on how the Bay Area residents fleeing the Bay Area are flooding Sacramento and the valley for cost of living and slower pace of life. Its causing many natives to be homeless or have to leave the state because they can't compete with Bay Area money. Gentrification has forced alot of generational families from the Central Valley to other less desirable areas. Sacramento has been decimated by area refugees and we now have one of the most expensive Housing markets in the Country despite being a small government town. All these techies are paying cash for homes in Sacramento and working from home. We can't compete on central valley salaries.

There’s a gas station on Webster St in Alameda, CA. Alameda is an island city next to Oakland and along Webster St the homeless started to creep in and set up tents. One night a homeless guy walked into this gas station and barged behind the counter and started stealing cigarettes. The clerk pulled out a gun and shot the homeless guy in the head. At first, he told the police he felt threatened and that the guy was being hostile. But the police reviewed the video and decided to charge the clerk with murder.
Another case in Oakland. A couple of guys were breaking into cars around 23rd Avenue - kind of a rough neighborhood. This guy saw them breaking into his car and I think he got into a physical altercation with them and he shot at their getaway car killing one of them. He was charged with murder.
Another recent case in Antioch 30 miles from Oakland. Antioch is a rough city. 2 guys robbed a gas station. The gas station chased them off with a gun and there was shootout. The attendant was killed. When they caught the thieves, the liberal DA of Contra Costa County said the thieves would not be charged with murder because the clerk shot first.
A liberal judge in SoCal let a 3 striker out on bail after dropping a bunch of his charges that would have put in prison for life. The guy ended up killing a deputy sheriff.
In California, the criminals have the upper hand. Our laws are based on common law, and in no circumstance under common law would deference be given to criminals over crime victims. This is where liberal policies on crime and justice have it wrong.

It’s such a rat race. Discouraging the recall didn’t work, and the tactics people fell for. If you don’t stand for some you fall for everything. We did. I’ve lived here my whole life, but now I see why my dad left for Idaho in the 80’s. Also funny story, a shop owner recently made everything in the store $951.00 and has a coupon behind the counter to mark it down to regular price. Anyway I hope we can change our state I think what happened is “the road to hell was paved with good intentions” leftist altruism made this place a shite hole, allocation of funds from safety( police) to things that don’t help. Ill agree with the immigration issue my moms side immigrated from Mexico legally so to have people who didn’t go through the years of waiting benefit kinda sucks. My granny from Mexico was a staunch conservative. Also my dad and his fam came from Canada, he left the state due to illegals bidding him out of painting jobs. It also affects the illegals because they work for less under bad conditions and bad pay. Maybe being a first generation American I see things a bit different but I truly hope we can change this, the pendulum has completely swung from one end to another it’s become a total dystopian environment here.

I drove to LA one time from Vegas a few years ago after having never been to California my whole life. First thing I remember coming down the mountains from the north on I-15 was just how beautiful it was. I ate in some posh restaurant on sunset strip. Looked up at the Hollywood sign, drove around Beverly hills, Brentwood, Santa Monica couldn't believe how beautiful it was. And then I got to the beach in Santa Monica and it was homeless tent after homeless after homeless tent as far as the eye could see.
I think homeless are the biggest problem there and are the crux of most of the issues.. I think that's what's changed the most over the years which is increased crime and made the area look trashy. And the increasingly left leaning politics have allowed the homeless to fester by allowing them to just sit around and do drugs and steal and cause problems for people who want to do the right thing.

Some people are homeless though bc CA state income tax is high …so coupled that with rising rental rates year to year and federal income tax on folks making only $20 or less, factor in an unexpected car accident or heart attack or bike accident (ambulance bill for the latter!), and it’s easy to become homeless. It’s actually pretty easy to become homeless, especially now with gas stations being so high and inflation crazy , the most vulnerable people making minimum wage - $15/hr can easily be served an eviction notice if they don’t have enough for rent. It’s sad.

@@chococookies7292 that happened to me. Had a major car accident. Left me in the hospital for days. Could not work and now I'm homeless. Living in my car for now and working 3 jobs to make ends meet. Also, working in customer service can wear you down. Dealing with snobby and rude customers is sometimes demeaning.

When my relatives moved to Glendale in 1955, they bought a beautiful home for $20K, with 2/3 acre of land under it. The property taxes were almost nothing. Yes, I know we must factor in inflation, but inflation does not account the rise in home prices.
Recent youtube channels suggest that even the liberals are fed up here, and are moving out.

A great majority of my customers were from Cali. And they all were fleeing that state as quick as they could with no intention of going back. Putting Cali aside, most of the really big cities all across the country are in free fall as well due to gross mismanagement and corruption. Look it up. It’s bad I hate to say
