Here's a tip I thought of for all writers participating in Nano that helps me! I think it's way easier to write the first 3000-5000 words before Nano even begins. I think this really takes starting fears away and helps you get in the groove of your story before you have to write 50k in a single month. And I don't think it's technically cheating because you're still writing 50k words, you're just not starting from almost nothing, your final word count may be just slightly longer
WOW! I've participated in NaNoWriMo since 2012 and this is one the best if not the best advice I've heard. It's a good warmup instead of going into NaNo cold. However, this can be easy to burn yourself out before NaNo. However, this can easily be adapted by just changing the how many words you write.
this is exactly what im doing this year i had already started writing a little bit before and ill still do 50 k words but theyre not the first 5k ish words
Draft 6 for the win!! It's a close shave in terms of my own decision-making, but I finally decided that this year's NaNo will be a strict focus on worldbuilding for my next project. The actual scripting of scenes will be reserved for January.
I’ve been working on the same teleplay for 3 years now. I understand what you mean. 😂 Good luck with NaNoWriMo! Having the strict word counts stresses me out so I stopped doing it the way it’s supposed to be done. 😅
I am! I started planning out my story over the summer, but it's really an idea I had for a while now. It's kind of like THE FACE ON THE MILK CARTON and FINDING CARTER: a girl finds out she was kidnapped when she was a child and is sent back to live with her real family.
Im doing graphic novel writing month! I have a current project I want to get more chapters drafted, but also two different story ideas. As long as I get the word count I'll be happy.
I am participating this year! It’s my first year committing to the 50k - I’ve kind of tried in the past with no real plans of hitting the goal, but this year I am planning to write 50k in a new project I’m calling Project Island. It’s a NA Romance and I’m so excited to start drafting!
A lot of agents also close to queries in November/December. Better to take the time and get it tight than try to rush! I'm planning to participate with a speculative/timeslip romance, but with being on sub things could change at any time :)
@@SaraLubratt I'll do a little :) I want to turn my novel from last year into a play! Also, I don't know if you saw my comment on your previous video, but if you're looking for podcast guests in the future and I might be a good fit, let me know! 😊
I've decided to participate but not push. I'll be 4 months postpartum 1/2 way through the month and I'm still feeling run down. I'm continuing my camp project from July.
I've finally decided what in the world I'm doing for Nanowrimo this past weekend. I'm going to try my hardest to finish the book that I'm working on's draft!
Congratz on being an aunt! I'm not a novelist, instead I'm another comic creator working on a project, trying to get it finished. I had the thought of starting a new project this coming month to get in on the Nanowrimo vibe, but instead I think I'm also going to stick with the project I've already been working on. I've plotted the main story beats and have been working on scripting lately. I've got 12 pages penciled so far and 4 pages inked, the most I've ever gotten done on a fiction project (I wrote an instruction manual years ago, so I know I can finish a big project if I just work on it in pieces). This started as just a shorter comic idea but it has ballooned into a graphic novel now, and have been struggling this year with keeping going with it. Your videos have been motivating and helpful to me and I just wanted to say thanx for that. Good luck with your book!
I am! Also, congrats on the niece! I considered to do draft no. 2 of my novel this November because for days now - and I’m still not done! 🙃 - I have been fixing up my worldbuilding. It didn’t make sense to me when I was gonna start the draft, so I went into it. Now I can hardly get out of it 😂 Luckily it should be done before Nov, and it’s great timing as I just finished a new season of a show I love yesterday, so I can give 100% full attention to this story again! At least, when I’m not working at my job anyway
Hey Sara, I hope you're doing well. Here in my Country NanoWriMo isn't as popular like in the U.S., I'm still writing Draft 2 by hand and I'm at Chapter 22 (the 1st Draft has 61 Chapters), I also decided to split the story in 3 books otherwise the Book would have around 170K words or maybe even more. I'm loving it a lot, I can't wait for the final Product. Wishing you all the best. :)
I will be rewriting a project I started last year in NaNoWriMo. I finally figured out some points of the plot which hampered me last year, and I think I may actually be able to get a completed first draft. Fingers crossed.
I did start the first 2300 words however, I did lose a little momentum toward the end of October so I am just going to go out on a limb and pants the mess out of my discovery draft. I have sort of a basic outline so I think I’ll be okay! Good luck everyone!
I was waiting for your video. I had the same issue. My book is almost ready for beta readers and it was tough to decide what to do. Thanks for this video. I will do the same🤗.
Good morning, Sara. 🌞🌹Congrats on becoming a new Aunt and that is so cool! It's nice to hear you had stopped freelancing giving you more time to focus on creative ideas like finishing project "DE" and your podcast among others. I'm very proud of you, Sara for working hard towards your goal for yourself. Have a lovely day, a great weekend and happy writing. ❤✌

Where is the best place online to feel part of the nanowrimo community?
I think it’s instagram
I can't believe that NaNoWriMo is just a few days away.
Me neither 🙃

It's my first year doing NaNo! I'm working on an adult fantasy novel. So excited! Can't wait to hear how it goes for you.
Good luck and happy writing!!
I wish i could participate this year, but I'm just too busy!
That's ok! You can still sneak in some writing :)

I think that sounds like a very healthy choice :) progress is progress!
Are you live streaming this year?
I’ll be on a livestream on Autumn Ashley’s channel nov 1 at 7pm est! No other streams planned as of right now but probably!

Exciting!!!
goood luck!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!!
I’ve lost track of what draft I’m on now😂
😂
I’m also using Nano to edit my first draft :D Let’s do this!
Yay!!! Good luck and happy editing!

NaNoWriMo started today aaand I’m up at 5 am, what a start *sigh*
You got this!
I'm also using NaNo to finish the draft I'm currently on with my fantasy novel, and hoping to start querying in January! We got this! 🥳
Yay!! 🥳
Man I'm nervous already.
lol it’s just excitement if you rephrase it!
Congratulations

@@SaraLubrattYou're the best. :)
I'm a comic artist so I can't do nano. But I'm trying to do 365 chapters in one year😅
Honestly that sounds insanely harder than nanowrimo
good luck 👊
Wayyyyyyy harder
Oh wow 😅😅😅
Congrats! 0:19 so cute!!! Some people like editing and some don’t. I’m the latter category. Your book sounds like exciting. Good luck.
