    I went in to get my wife's name and tattooist refused said he didnt do wife's or GF names I explained I had been with her from the time we were kids and my parents took her in after her parents died to the time she passed away from cancer when we were 19. Told him I'll never regret it as she was the love of my life. Guy did it for free and apologized..but I still payed and tipped well, cause it was the single best tattoo I've ever had and I'll never forget it.

      @vicsrealm 3 года назад +12

      The ideal client for me is someone that has the idea but allows the tattoo artist freedom with design, style, placement, sizing. That’s how you get the best possible work from your artist. Oh, and someone that doesn’t expect the artist to entertain them the entire way throughout the tattoo. That ain’t our job, that’s on you, you’re a damn adult. And for me personally, if I have to talk the whole way through a tattoo just to make the client feel better, then the tattoo is going to take twice as long because I have to stop every time I speak. Either I’m focused on my lines or I’m focused on the convo, not both. That’s just me.

      Yep! Tattoos are literally cutting the skin open and injecting a foreign body (ink) into it. Do too much too quickly, and your body can't process/heal fast enough, so it starts to reject it. It's pretty much the micro level of an organ transplant.

    • @p.haugen7565
      @p.haugen7565 4 года назад +27

      It can also happen with shitty cheap ink (from wish etc), if your blood sugar is low, or if you've coloured a big piece

    • @ashliehathaway3105
      @ashliehathaway3105 4 года назад +13

      You need to let them heal before you get another tattoo (especially if it’s not good quality aka cheap, the ink is expired, or even dirty equipment).

    • @Homemaker-eg2he
      @Homemaker-eg2he 4 года назад +10

      Your body can reject it at any time during the tattoo or after... It just depends on the circumstances like others have said of its cheap.. Home done... Bad/ dirty equipment.. If its not sterilized properly or if they dont wear gloves etc if you even think something isnt right dont do it.. It eould be better to wait and find somewhere you feel better then to take the chance sometbing would go wrong or get infected... Blood poisoning from what I hear isnt fun not to mention the infection could more then likely ruin the whole tattoo if not just make it look like crap... Eat first and be honest..

    I was the one who passed out during my first tattoo. I couldn’t believe how much it hurt! (It was on my hip bone). When I felt better, I told the artist I wanted to stop. He asked if I wanted to walk around my whole life with 3 marks proving I couldn’t finish what I start.
    I sat back down & let him finish. That one tattoo reminds me I can get through painful things if I want to put in the effort.

Chances are they'll just shut up and do the tattoo. That doesn't mean that they don't get to mentally judge or complain about it later. Especially when it's a super generic tattoo. Tattoo artists spend years practicing to get to where they are, you can't expect them to be happy that 90% of the tattoos that they do end up being the exact same skulls, roses, or words that got ripped off of some google image.

Yes, it's a fairly common tattoo (because the Fandom is large), but it isn't one of those repetitive or trendy tattoos that they do all day every day, re. Roses, skulls, pocket watches, dream catchers, and butterflies. Now, all of those tattoos are perfectly valid -I have some of these tattoos myself- and if you want one you should get it, but understand that after 10,000 of the same tattoos the artist is going to get bored.
      A dark mark is a wonderful idea. If it will make you happy, then you should get it! Someone else's persecution or opinion shouldn't stop you from living the life you want to live. If you live your life fearing that others will judge you, then you're setting yourself up for a life of regret. So do it! Live your best life! I believe in you!

    My sister has gotten 4 tattoos now. She always does extensive research on what exactly she wants and in finding an artist that is reputable and able to do what she is looking for (ie one of her tattoos involves a flower and she wanted it to look life like, not cartoon-ish so she looked for someone who she felt could fulfill that for almost a month and it looks amazing). The only problem: she has an intense fear of needles. Whenever she has to get her blood drawn or get a vaccine someone has to go with her because it's not uncommon for her to faint as soon as the needle gets inserted for her to just pass out or for her to start having an intense panic attack. This almost happened during 3 out of her 4 tattoos and she had made sure to warn the tattoo artists beforehand each time of the situation, hence why she brought someone with her who had water, snacks and other things to try and distract her in the hopes that she would be able to remain calm and conscious.

      @@SorenPenrose I honestly thought researching for about a month was the normal, logic things to do until my partner told me that it was not. For my first tattoo I did do minimal research because it was just full black work, nothing fancy and it was from an anime I love, so basically any tattoo artist could do it, so I focused more on the human/hygiene side of the shop. And my next three more detailed tattoos, while also black work happened to be old school style so I went back to that shop and asked if they had someone who had very good at lining, they just so happened they did. But even then, I still took about a month to find as many references as I could to make it easier for both him and me.
      My last one I had to go look for another shop since it's a sketch tattoo of Winnie The Pooh, in black and grey, much finer lines, so not my usual tattoo artist's style, and much like OP's sister, it took me a good 3-4 weeks to find the studio I wanted, then they gave me two artists two pick from.

I now have 3 tattoos and saving my arm for my mom and dad and step dad and step mom heartbeats .

My first one I wanted for three years before I got it and my second was for a year. Both held meaning to me and actually seemed to impress the artists as they both hadn't had requests like mine and generally seemed to like them.

    I was getting a tattoo last year a lovely potion bottle piece (long session 5hrs). Me and my artist were just sitting in the waiting as a having a break as it was a little cold in the ink room and we were having a cup of tea. A man walked in an said he wanted a tattoo this was about 6pm (the shop was not open for much longer I was in late as it was a long session) He said he needed to get a tattoo today on his arm with his pets name. Cute idea but saying he had to have it done there and then was a bit off. Me and my artist when back to the ink room to get back on with my tattoo while the other artist who had no client at that time discussed with him. He came into the ink room and his idea had completly changed to 'Fear no man's as a quote on his arm. He had it done in like 50mins and wouldn't let the artist touch it up to make it perfect once initial outline and shading was done. We all thought it was pretty odd as most people book sessions rather than walk in and the guys insistence on it been done there and then. It was a little off. He left and we were all a bit baffled by it. It almost seemed like he had a bet or somethig to get inked that day but we have no idea.

    I always love these stories. I give my artist the best i can as he/she is putting something permanent on my body, I want to make sure i don't piss them off.
    But, on the opposite end of this, i had a tattoo artist re doing some colouring on my right arm and i do try my very best not to move, i realy do cuz i don't want it fucked up. But, he kept stopping ever few minutes to complain with irritation that my arm keeps twitching and tell me to stop, I kept swearing that i didn't notice and would apologises, finaly after the 5th time he said it I watched more intently (usually i zone out) to what was going on and every few minutes my middle fingers would start a slight twitch hear and there ( the tattoo was on my right forearm). It didn't see, to twitch bad enough to cause my forearm to move but I would just make sure i concentrated hard enough to force it to stop but i just couldnt make it stop. He got so pissed off that when i was done he told me to fuck off. That would have discouraged me from getting anything else. But, the owner came out after me and appologised intensely. I did come back a few years later for a new tatt and brought it up, the owner remembered me and said that the guy ended up quitting shortly after that cuz he reamed him a new asshole later that night. I guess he was a realy good artist and did great tattoos, but, he had an "I'm better than all of you" type attitude that got annoying quick. The owner explained the other artists there had gotten so tired of this kids crap they were going to suggest he either get booted from the chair or then would leave. So, i guess good for them. But, i feel so sorry for this kids further clients if he kept with tattooing, or, at least maybe he had gotten humbled a little bit by that but i doubt it

When the tattoo artist got the stencil right but did the tattoo as a mirror image (It is a rock band symbol and is totally wrong the other way around) why don't I get a refund? I didn't realise it was wrong when I looked in the mirror at the time...because it actually was a mirror image! I called the place and he wasn't in. When I went there to get another person from the shop to do another one but around the right way I asked about the original guy. I was told he's not here and we don't know when he's in next. You'll have to take it up with him. 2. When I come in with an idea and it's not going to work but I don't know that which is why I asked the question, why do I get "No" then silence? For example is it possible to use shading to show that something is glowing. I'm not a mind reader or a tattoo artist!

    Tip: Try to focus on keeping your entire body still, not just the area where the tattoo is occurring. I have had MANY clients be typing on their phone or gesturing with their hands, and even though it might be the opposite arm you’re using, chances are you are still moving your other arm around too! Each of them darting in, repeatedly stabbing you with their sharp little tongues, lapping up your blood and darting away before you can react, then dart back for more when you're distracted my the other dozen doing the same. @1:00 When I got my first tattoo, I wanted an exact copy of what my dad had on his arm. I only had 1 picture of it, taken a few days before he passed. I made it clear to my artist, I want it exactly like this-blowouts and everything. He did not disappoint.

    funny enough i had a friend ask me for a tattoo drawing for her to show an artist. im glad i told her they will want to add their own flair and to just treat my drawing like a reference.

    I'm the opposite of the macho guy. I was worried that the pain would cause me to flinch and fuck up the tattoo the first time so I asked my artist if he'd do something that gave me a clue what it felt like first. He traced an area of the tattoo with no ink (it was a watercolor design and he said he had planned to trace that bit anyway). I would never pretend to be tougher than I am in a way that could fuck up my ink just to prove that i'm "manly."

    I got a black and white custom character Idk collage on my ankle its horror movie characters but symbols not the actual characters only chucky has a face... The first time no issues it hurt but I knew it would I like the pain I love tattoos I wish I had more anyways... I got it when I was like 19 I think well about a year later I got with someone who was going aftet a tattoo and he offered to have my tattoo colored over I tried to talk him out og it but he wouldnt let me so I'm like whatever your money think it was like $100 so all together it cost $250 with the initial and the color in like I said the first one went fine the second one though my ankle would not stop spasming it was completely random and not a subtle spasm but he was amazing and was able to fix any accidents tattoo looks great... I need a touch up as its been 10 uears but im thinking he wont remember me and I dont know what their policy on touchups is..

    My wife was a talented tattoo artist good ink can take hours and hours over months. It took close to 90 hours to do a complete sleeve(0 to 100%). Hours of lining, hours and hours of filling in. Then hours of touch ups, then possibly more touch ups. Giant pieces with lots of color are a serious time investment.

    Someone just started working with my dsp that has a kiss 💋 print on his neck ... first of all cringe... second I was about 30 feet away and could tell it was a crappy tattoo ... I really hope I never have to talk to him because I’ll probably stare at the monstrosity

    The ones who insist on using their phones while being inked and get pissy when you tell them if they don't put it down they can leave, no refunds.

    I got lucky but unlucky with my tattoo... turns out mine is a copy. I gave her a picture and said i like the idea but i wanna add X, Y, and Z if its possible to work it in.
    Con: She did it in her style but come to find out my old neighbor had the same one. Only difference was i had the eyes on mine colored and mine was shaded slightly different but it was still basically identical.
    Pro: i made a 4.5 hour drive to go to this artist so they let me bring a friend because the drive was through some not so great areas and i have anxiety about driving

    14:32 I know he’s probably referring to how long he’s been tattooing but the way he worded it makes it sounds like he’s saying he’s fourteen/fifteen

    I draw out my own tattoos, and I only get a tattoo that has a meaning behind it and is one I want permanently on my body. I only have 2 currently, but I have a few ideas for new ones in the future
