- No matter how you know Mac McAnally - as a Nashville session picker and 10-time Country Music Association Musician of the Year, Jimmy Buffett’s sideman, or hit songwriter - it’s hard to imagine you could have avoided hearing his handiwork over the last four decades.
Here are the top five riffs that shaped his life in music.
Read about Mac in the October 2021 issue of Guitar Player magazine, and visit guitarplayer.com for more music, interviews, lessons and video content.
Mac is the coolest, baddest dude. And he is humble as if he doesn't even know it. You can't help but love him
I could listen to you talk all day, not to mention listen to you play. I just adore you and your music. Been a fan since 1976.
Love you Mac!
Famous but well grounded. Amazing guitarist and song writer. Love you Mac ^^^/\ ^^^
Loved hearing this!
Spectacular Writer and Guitarist. So many Grammys! Well deserved! ✌️❤️🌴🎶🦜🩴🤟🍔🚨⛽🌺🐬🦩☎️📞🦈🚨🚨⛽🦐🏴☠️
Mac McAnally is a class act.
One of the all time great acoustic players
Really enjoyed your lesson in Montana a few years back. Still a highlight.
My hero!
Awesome! Thanks Mac! Great, memorable riffs.
I love playing Blackbird too but I never do it live cuz I’m afraid I’ll screw it up! So I have to keep working on that one. Love your playing, very inspirational.
A legend. Being from Mississippi when people ask whats it got to offer, I say Mississippi gave the World Elvis, Conway, BB, Charlie Pride and Mac McAnally, your welcome!
Wonderful story.
Mac you are such an amazing musician and such a humble person I don’t think you really realize how talented you are in so many ways and what an incredible voice you have!💖
Love this!
very nice!!
Man, I WISH there was more focus on the Nashville songwriting scene. We are quickly approaching a time when the legendary writers of these songs will be gone and they won't allow anything with this kind of soul on the clear channel bullshit "radio".
What’s with the “Mac” shirt. Has this guy born with a gift from God ever done a job that required a name tag?
He writes songs driving a Mac truck and they give him a new shirt with each purchase.
Thanks for sharing Musical moments!
Of course that little riff he plays at the end is Paul Simon's "American Tune"....but most of you probably already knew that. :)
Brilliant, insightful, playing. Thanks for sharing with us Mac...
Mac, You’re my biggest guitar influence and songwriting inspiration. I’ve been learning through you for years. Thank you.
