quick note: at 39:30 the student says that the o would have a -2 charge and the h would have a +1 charge, but isn't charge completely separate from oxidation number?

Unfair to expect perfection. I used to teach Mathematics and would make mistakes. The difference is a great teacher can mistakes, recognize them and correct them. Most students don't understand how to do that or pick up when they made an error to begin with.
The reason MIT is MIT is because they teach and make sure their students master every subject. Leave it to other universities to pride themselves in making retaining information difficult. MIT has the track record that proves their methods. It works. It just works.
@@beenn15 The MIT professors actually give a damn about students learning the material and not just memorizing enough to pass an exam. I agree! I have studied Chemistry in both CC and university settings and it's all shit. Wish I got to learn here.
I love this woman! Why can't we have professors like her in every college/university teaching Chemistry? Those MIT students are so damn lucky...
They deserve
I absolutely love how she IS TEACHING!
How do we know if we are under acidic vonditions or basic conditions?

@@avanishshenoy thanks
@@avanishshenoy I agree, more than likely misspoke.
If talking about charge, the sign is second and number is first.
charge: 2-
oxidation:-2

She is the best chemistry teacher.
bro you are mistaken
catherine always has some beautiful diagrams
what a great lady? she really boost my confidence and also guide me what a teacher should have the qualities?👍
Electrochemistry is one of the easiest chemistry subjects. I like it 👌
She is a great professor what is her name? Are the rest of her lectures Is available on RUclips?

I AM HAPPY , AFTER PAYING LAKHS OF RUPEE IN OUR SCHOOL WE ONLY GOT 0.1% OF THESE LECTURE.THANKYOU
ARE THESE LECTURES ENOUGH FOR JEE ADV. (INDIA )
I don't get it, at 44:35 she has 65.55g/mol for Cu? The periodic table says 63.55g/mol, is this just a typo?
It's an error on her part, it must have been a typo, that led to the incorrect answer. But you are right.
Will magnesium decrease the oxidation of aluminum foil in a salt water bath?
Excellent ❤ just love your way of teaching 👏
Many many thanks, dear Mam
I love your style of teaching, very interesting
You measure electron flow with an ammeter not a volt meter-- voltage is the electron potential energy of the anode
A digital Volt Meter has many functions but no one calls it an Ammeter, Multi-meter or DVM. Pedantic and unhelpful!
@@av6966 Thank you!
@@av6966 but wouldn't voltmeter block electron flow because its high resistance?
Thanks for making chemistry easy for us
i just can only dream to this happens in my university
Where can I get lectures on thermodynamics
Here's what we have on thermodynamics: ocw.mit.edu/courses/find-by-topic/#cat=science&subcat=physics&spec=thermodynamics. Best wishes on your studies!
@@mitocw thanks
saved my IB high school chemistry exam.
MIT is my dream
Like my chemistry teacher at my iit preparation coaching center
Is she a SHIELD agent?
Thank man I don't like redox but when I saw your lecture I am surprised
Thanks ❤️🤍
thank you
allah razı olsun
This is helpful ❤️🤍
Damn. I am doing my bachelors in Computer Science. Watching this video made me wanna shift careers.
Very thankful to you.great,suprb,...
amazing 👌
Can this mam teach polymer chemistry.? I need her lectures somebody tell me please

Well she can
This like basic high school chemistry...
Very useful make unlimited videos on organic chemistry sir
I have to be honest... having a teaching with typos explaining an already hard to follow topic like electrochemistry makes it really hard to pick up.
Unfair to expect perfection. I used to teach Mathematics and would make mistakes. The difference is a great teacher can mistakes, recognize them and correct them. Most students don't understand how to do that or pick up when they made an error to begin with.
She has dyslexia so it's understandable if she makes some typos.
a lọt of these knowledge we was taught in high school, particarly grade 11 and 12. Iam in Vietnam
superb...
