Briar you're a lifesaver! I'm in the market for my first fight stick for the new MK1 coming out in September! I mostly game on PC these days but some of my time is on switch as well! I was looking at the Xbox version of these sticks but based off your recommendations you may have saved me 40 dollars and gave me a stick for multiple consoles! Great review!
Also using the switch version of this stick and it's the best value for your money you can get. I'm getting the Xbox version too. The build quality is superior to the may flash sticks and the materials used feel top notch. ☮️
I have the Mayflash F500 Elite with Sanwa buttons and stick and the 8BitDo arcade stick for the Switch that is shown a bit for comparisons sake in this review. I don't feel let down at all about the Mayflash. I can't speak for the F300 in either form or the standard F500, but the F500 Elite genuinely feels like a quality item. I'm sure something like a high end Hori with Sanwa parts and such will feel even better, but this doesn't feel like how I'd expect a Mayflash controller to feel.
I just got this, it's great.. found the stock buttons average, so put some Seimitsu in to correct that. Have a Seimitsu LS56 lever arriving shortly too, once that's fitted the stick will be perfect.
Amazing review - lots of subtle differences and not just switch version vs xbox version.... For the extra 40 dollars - would have appreciated if they made this new one also BT compatible - that would make this the ultimate entry level stick.
I’ve got a lot of arcade sticks but these days I don’t care about a little delay from wireless. And I love sitting on the couch 10 feet away from the big tv in the living room. So I went ahead and ordered one of these last night. I wish I found your review first. Just because I got a black one and the white one you have looks so nice. Not being able to put my modded JLF in right away is a bummer.
after reviewing everything i could find online i ended up going for the monoprice dark matter fight stick. It came with Sanwa joystick and buttons so no need to upgrade plus it has a plexiglass top and you can put you own custom artwork on the top. only thing is its wired which os fine with me but wireless is convenient.
As fellow owner of stick connectors are pretty standard: - stick: JST PH 2.0 8pin - buttons: JST 2x10 pin 2.54 You can buy connectors with cables from most of online part stores.
With the price difference on these, get the Switch version and one of those mayflash dongles that makes it work for Xbox, then you got the best of everything. I have 4 of the Switch ones and four adapters and it works flawlessly on Xbox One / Series.
Just purchased one! I was wondering if theres room to add flat metal plates with 3m tape to add a bit of weight? Maybe that would solve the tipping issue
I found that the lack of hand rest space is my biggest issue with these. Also, I'm not a big fan of the L-shaped quick disconnects inside. It's really easy to mistakenly think you slid the connector on all the way with how the plastic protectors loosely wrap the disconnects. Thirdly, these aren't great for anyone who likes custom art, as there really isn't a panel to be customized-I wouldn't risk trying to remove the plexi-like layer that rests under the buttons either. Lastly, wire management was a bit messy when I opened mine up. For the price, it's honestly not a terrible buy. I enjoy having the 8BitDo stick as part of my collection-it's an aesthetically nice design to look at. But yeah, for the gamer willing to spend extra on a more performant solution, find a Hori Kai (preferably one that already has Sanwa parts equipped) and buy a Brook UFB. It'll go a longer way.
Great review. Trying to find an excuse to get this. I wasn't fond of the previous USB-C charge port location. Was difficult to unplug the cable without pulling on the cable itself, even with the extended length connector on the supplied 8BitDo charge cable. I do love the versatility of the previous stick although it recently let me down in that area for the first time. I hooked up Hyperkin's Retron 77 with the community firmware update installed that transforms it into a great HD Atari 2600 with the latest version of the Stella emulator, connected an OTG cable to the USB power port, and plugged in the 8BitDo receiver into the OTG cable. It didn't work since apparently the stick doesn't do Dinput and is Xinput only (The version of Linux that Hyperkin is using is so old that it lacks Xinput support). Thankfully the Mayflash F500 Elite does do Dinput, but now I'm of course tethered to the system.
Thank you, Briar, l loved the review. If I understood correctly, when the ‘gamepad’ mode is turned on you should be able to play any game, any genre. This is because the Xbox then sees the stick as a regular controller. Do test and correct me if I am wrong. I just subscribed and I am looking forward to your review of Daija :)
Hey, just picked up the new black series s along with this stick and ran into a bit of a weird problem. For some reason this stick seems to only work on fighting games. I can navigate through the menu just fine but when i select a game like mega man or huntdown or mighty goose the buttons dont work at all. Only the home button works. What am i missing here? Is there a setting on the xbox that i need to turn on or off or does this stick really only work on fighting games? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Excellent video.l and great comparison. I have two of the Switch versions and upgraded stick and buttons with Sanwa parts. Its a shame that the stick replacement is not plug and play. Can you just replace the stock restrictor gate with a Sanwa 8-way? I have Retroarch installed in Developer mode on the XSX and I am assuming that this upgraded stick will now be compatible?
Great review! Mayflash has some decently priced sticks, including the Mayflash F500 Elite for $150 that works with every system but the PS5 and comes with Sanwa parts. Is there any chance you can review that stick?
I saw you listed a various pack of rubber feet for fixing the rocking issue - did you happen to know rhe extact thickness you needed? The rocking on my swirch version is literally my only remaining issue!
I just got a brand new stick as a Christmas present and it does not work on my XBox Series S. When I plug the USB dongle in, it won't do anything at all. Does anybody have the same issue? Any advice would be much appreciated!
looking at this to move away from xbox controller on xbox and pc mortal kombat. is arcade stick superior to dpad? I dont like dpad at all for MK. keyboard is okay but not as fun.
I have a question, I previously played on Hori Fighting Edge without modification, this stick is better after taking it out of the box, but there is 1 problem, It seems to me that there are more lag on Xbox compared to the controller, can someone confirm?
It may be cheap in your country, but here in Brazil we fear an ex-convict in the presidency who robs the people with a lot of taxes, the worker cannot buy one of these.

how was your experience with MK1 and this controller?
i bought this stick and have it as my 1st arcade stick in my life. no regret about it and it is quite cheap xDD.
So glad you added the caveat about the steamdeck. Will defo get the older version. Thanks
Man i haven't watched Briar since Destiny 1, good to see he's still uploading and doing well!

Sold my xbox series x. Bought the 8bitdo arcade stick. Using it for the Switch, Steamdeck, Android. Best decision ever.

Hello I am planning on replacing the 8bitdo(xbox) lever to a sanwa lever will the pin work? Or do i need to solder?
I think its time for a Briar fight stick tier list. Which ones are the S rank?
With the price difference on these, get the Switch version and one of those mayflash dongles that makes it work for Xbox, then you got the best of everything. I have 4 of the Switch ones and four adapters and it works flawlessly on Xbox One / Series.
Any idea if firmware updates have made the xbox stick's connectivity less fussy? 14:41
8BitDo should get to work on an 8BitDo arcade stick controller for the PS4, PS5 and PC.
This one should already work perfectly on the PC, since it's an Xbox controller
It does, but I still would like one for PS5
Or one-for-all.
not gonna happe. Sony Charges a huge amount on licensing playstation accesories. 8bitdo has always been a budget high quality products
Fk ps

Yes, there is definitely room to add more weight inside
Lol. I use that turtle pic for my avatar sometimes, so I thought this was my comment for a moment...until I read it.

Yeah, I I do think the new charging port position offers a lot of big benefits.
Good to hear success with F500 elite
I just upgraded my black one and it had the sticker inside.
so is the joystick only 4 way? I woulda thought it would need 8 way for streetfighter?
Anyone have any issues with syncing the controller to the dongle? I cant seem to sync mine.
its work now ?

Gamepad mode puts controller into xinput.

ça marche maintenant ?
Please review the Nacon Daija i bought mine a few weeks ago and It might be the best stick I’ve owned since the SFXT stick
Will do. I have one krdered

Hey man, i'm deciding between this one and the Qanba Drone 2, which one would you recommend best? I'm gonna use it in PC only. Thanks!
I'd personally prefer the 8bitdo Arcade stick. But I'd get the switch version for $90. Still compatible with PC and more feature rich than the Drone
@@BriarRabbit You're the man! Thanks a lot
Can you link / assign multiple buttons to 1 button? e.g turn light punch into light, medium and hard punch (instead of having to press all 3 punches?

Ok. looking at this closer and I'm ordering one to test soon!
@@BriarRabbit Awesome, looking forward to it!
I am on couch 2 metres on from my Xbox series S and it keeps disconnecting every 30-40 minutes… help. Do you have same?
Weird issue maybe you can help. When I switch to joystick mode on my xbox it becomes completely non functional
Is it possible to make this one work with android? (for use with my retrohandheld)
The Xbox stick any luck connecting it to the mister?I got it as a gift
What type of stick would you recommend swapping to for big hands new to arcade sticks?
Excellent video, do you know what connector I need to install a Sanwa JLX-TP-8YT Joystick on this 8Bitdo Arcade Stick for Xbox.
I saw you listed a various pack of rubber feet for fixing the rocking issue - did you happen to know rhe extact thickness you needed? The rocking on my swirch version is literally my only remaining issue!
i would estimate about 1/4"

How easy is switching out the restrictor gate?
Can this arcade stick be used with the PS5?
Does the original 8bitdo Nintendo work on Xbox new gen?
noob question, is it a big difference if i change the stock 8bitdo stick to a sanwa jlf(or any other brand)? or is it pretty much the same?
I really wish they'd make these for PS5. not sure why they don't.
Licensing. I would like to see that too.
@@BriarRabbit makes sense.
Great video! Very informative!
Can yo use 2 on the same PC?
does it not have Bluetooth like the original?
Prices of these sticks are insane, donno how can someone say they are satisfied
Hi, one of you tried to make it work on Nintendo switch ? If yes does it work or not at all ? Thanks !
The joysticks are a bit sloppy on both imo. Other than that i love it. Upgrading the stick is not too crazy hard .. 25 bucks or so
Hello. Isn't there any way to connect it to the Switch as well as PC and Xbox?
Yes you buy the switch version and buy an adapter for the Xbox lol
does it support steam platform?
Здравствуй, очень полезное видео респект тебе и твоему каналу.GREAT
id also like an extra inch at the bottom iykyk
Is this going to work on ps5?
The stick is too narrow, especially on the left side. They should have added 4 inches to make it more comfortable for the hand to rest.
No way they can’t update the firmware to make the original Xbox compatible.
No 360??? 😢
I wish they would make one for PS5/PC/XBX
