Where in Vedas or Upanishads or Ramyana or Mahabharata any mention of such rituals? It is unfortunate that we have ruined our GREAT Hinduism with useless rituals. A religion is supposed to be a moral guide for day to day life. Hinduism gives the greatest value system to follow but people like you have pushed back the values and adopted the rituals.
