You know this song does make sense. Even though Johnny isn’t nice to Carl or Little Suzy (one Johnny believe bullied him when younger and the other the little sister he never had) he never was an actual jerk. Johnny actually was nice, especially to the ladies. For some reason everyone thought he was a jerk for constantly putting himself out there and showing off his muscles... which is weird because isn’t that how all us men think women will pay attention to us?
Yea all he wanted was a date. I don't think he wanted anything else after that. Even if chicks was the motivator for him to do something heroic and nice. That was endearing about him. And he love his momma so that was a defining factor to his character.
He fails because it's funnier, according to the writers. Their idea of him is that he does succeed, but the episodes are about his failures. Sort of like how Ed Edd n' Eddy didn't have any episodes with them at school until much later -- the episodes only occurred on weekends when the kids had free time.

I never thought there would be people performing for an audience of cartoon characters if I was forming a band to perform for cartoons I would gladly go up on that stage and give them what they came here for

He also is a very genuine person. Like flaws and all he is who he is and he wont lie about himself just to get a date.
