    What culture/setting would you want to see in an official Manor Lords expansion?

    • @MedjayofFaiyum

      Me:
      Medieval Japan!!!!
      THE CRUSADES!
      The Byzantine Empire
      Roman Empire
      Carthage
      Ancient Rome
      Ancient Egypt
      Ancient Bronze Age

      1600s New World colonization! Fighting off natives and such. Another thing would be, you do not need to worry about large battles like in the American revolution, just small groups of conquistadors and such

    Not a fan of that idea tbh. I would like the current setting to get fleshed out more. Totally different age and culture sounds more like a new game since the factions wouldn’t even be compatible. Maybe for his next game.

      I highly doubt different cultures would be a priority in the near future, that would be right at the bottom of the list. Either way, I do think the idea is kinda nice, but you're absolutely right that the game is not ready for such an expansion right now

      I totally agree. If they want to do a version of the Manor Lord in a Japan setting, just make a new game named Feudal Lord. They have the resources to make the new game. Let Manor Lord be fixed to Germany imo. Just my 2 cents.

  • @DarjinValentine
    @DarjinValentine 10 дней назад +18

    Imagine a manner lord expansion where you are roman colonist in Hispania or Roman Gaul. Where you fight against either rebels or war lords. Converting local people to create the Roman subcultures would be so cool. Honestly that might be to much dreaming but I would pay full price for that.

  •  10 дней назад +16

    Rather than looking for other eras or doing fantasy stuff, I think that making a map of the Iberian Peninsula would be perfect: in the same space you have a Christian culture different from that of central Europe and at the same time you have several Muslim Caliphates; you can also take a map of the eastern Mediterranean with Slavic and Magyar cultures, along with the Byzantines. On the other hand, the feudal Japan thing also seems right to me (that is, anything that does not go beyond the Middle Ages would be enough for me).

    • @brandonament832
      @brandonament832 7 дней назад +1

      The European cultures you listed are perfect for this game.

    • @muntril123
      @muntril123 7 дней назад +1

      I think Iberia would be perfect. You could have various biomes and cultures on the same map which all develop, compete, and fight differently. For instance, with more advanced irrigation systems, Muslims could construct qanats to increase fertility in more arid climates, or any culture could invest into repairing ruined Roman aqueducts already present on the map

  • @mrachwal
    @mrachwal 10 дней назад +8

    I think the settings should stay close to medieval for the sake of reusing as much of the work as possible. I’d love one to let me play a bit earlier medieval like Pre-Norman England or perhaps France of Eastern Europe; but otherwise I think Japan or Rome are just to different to reuse most of the game

  • @phunkracy
    @phunkracy 10 дней назад +9

    I'd have other CONTEMPORARY medieval culture fleshed out before cultures from a completely different eras and civilizations. There is so much you could work into THE ALREADY EXISTING setting that I feel absolutely no need for a change before the current game is 100% complete with all the features that it could have. We barely got another map which is mostly cosmetic. There is no maritime play, no AI factions, no biomes (why have other cultures if biomes stay the same?), trade is meh, in short, the current meta is still barebones, so why count one's chickens before they hatched???
    Having said all that.... Manor Lords 2.0 in Japan would be the bomb.

  • @shikanawa
    @shikanawa 10 дней назад +8

    Ancient Greece, Egypt, Rome, Persia, Japan, China, Korea, Aztecs, Mayans, Incans, Early civilisations of the Middle East such as Assyria or Babylon, Moving to fictionnal worlds, you could have Gondor, Rohan, the kingdoms of Game of Thrones or even the Empire from Warhammer Fantasy, (Imagine trying to build a prosperous village in a land plagued by Beastmen, lol), there's just so many possibilities !

  • @jt5765

    I'd rather they focus on the features & rounding out the realism of what is currently in the early access.
    For example more wildlife such as bears, wolves, lynx, beavers etc. along with how they impact the map.
    Much deeper systems like water & water pollution. Watermills, weirs, fish garths, fish traps, flooding, river trading. We don't even have a coastal map yet but shallow pan salt production, shellfish "fishing", tidal economy.
    Make the current game as complete & in depth as it can be. People want deep intricate systems.

    I'd love to have more of a cosmetic variety rather than an all out new world setting. Like, right now the place in Manor Lords is a specific part of southern or central Germany and that's all well and good, but I'd love to see changes in styles of people and landscape, so perhaps Italians or medieval Slavic lands, also different church architectures. Being from Serbia we have loads of monasteries and churches from medieval times that are amazing in looks. Byzantium would fit well with this too but still to maintain that you're a Manor Lord and that you're building a village, just in those lands. I'd love to be able to choose if my church is built in medieval byzantine orthodox fashion or north Italian or some other.
    Also I hope that Manor Lords also allows in full release to turn the whole region into a more urban environment with additional institutional type buildings, so perhaps in the style of old city builders (like Pharaoh) you have a massive project of building a monastery, a cathedral, a castle which takes long time, loads of resources etc.

    To be honest, as much as I’d certainly love to see a frontier Rome settlement builder in the spirit of Manor Lords (much like the Caesar series), building throughout Italy first. Then establishing various colona in locations such as Hispania, Illyria, Greece, Africa, later Anatolia, Gaul, Syria and Britannia and so on.
    However something more true of the era, and would better suit of socio-cultural dynamic of the game, would be a Byzantine themed one. Imagine “Pronoia Lords”, “Kephalai Lords” or “Strategoi”. With the task of building new settlements somewhere in the Aegean, Anatolia, Syria, Crimea, the Balkans, or even Italy, Egypt, the Levant and the Caucasus.
    The player would contend with the mighty Sassanid Persians, invasions and raids by migratory Pechenegs, Cumans, Kipchaks, Bulgars, Magyars and Slavs. Fighting off Arab-Berber corsairs, Arab-Bedouin armies, and later waves of Turkish raiders and migratory tribes. Even fighting alongside, or even against western-Latin crusaders. The possibilities are vast, almost endless.
    Just think of the vast evolution of the ERE military during this time. Transitioning from the Diocese arrangement of the Tetrarchy, to that of Justinian and Heraclius, the early Themata with the utilisation of centralised Tagmata, and later the Komnenian system and institution of the Pronoia.
    So many troop and unit types, and whilst maintaining a fairly consistent architectural and aesthetic style. It could change overtime, and gradually evolve as gameplay elapses. There’d still be libraries, academies, public fountains, bath houses, aqueducts, hippodromes and such. However there’d be more of a focus on Orthodoxy too, building churches and monasteries and so on.

    I have to say I am not a fan of that idea. More rather, I would like to see Manor lords expand into into the castle and all the medieval skills that go into operating a castle within a town or city. That way the skills required take an exponential journey on what is currently offered without changing the scenario, by introducing other factors like knights and the skills base that supports not only the castle, but the military aspects as well.

    I'm happy with MLs sticking with that it is and get it super polished and complete. If however, they decide to go the route with a culture expansion. The Rome era would be nice, however, instead of being the Romans, be the Germans or the Gauls and your trying to fight off the Romans, we've had tons of Romans, not enough Barbarii

  • @vanguardv1nce12
    @vanguardv1nce12 7 дней назад

    The roman idea wouldn't be a good fit. Now a cool take would be a colonial effort kinda like the game is already but more in the gunpowder era as your people try to tame a foreign and mysterious new land possibly compete with the Spanish or French colonies around or even hostile natives. Now that would be really damn fire 🗿

    Personally i hope for more realistic mechanics suited for medieval game such as pop classes. Right now it's just about upgrading towns. And each family is just a number. I hope for something like Ostriv, where families are not so abstract, they have their own wealth, they buy thing, thay pay taxes (real taxes, not just preset numbers like in ML).
    It's just too early to talk about different settings when the base game is that poor on content.

  • @xyAKMxy

    As much as I'd love to play a citybuilder like Manor Lord in a different timeframe (greco-roman age), I think this kind of "reskin" would alienate the game too much from its mechanics: first thing that comes to mind is that the type of housing developed in Manor Lords does not fit the typical housing present in mainstream "ancient roman citybuilders" (the insula for the poor, the domus for the rich); moreover in Manor Lords you're feuding against fellow central-european MANOR LORDS, whereas in an "ancient Rome" expansion of Manor Lords the dev would have to make different cultures like the celts to pit them against your roman colony, but that would mean making new unplayable cultures solely for you to fight against, not to play as them.
    This game should stay in the medieval timeframe for the time being but if it HAS to add new cultures (which I hope for): make them time-accurate cultures, right now we have germans or like central-europeans (germans and bohemians I think?), the next step would be to add other medieval regional cultures like iberians, franks, italians, eastern romans, western and eastern slavs, southern slavs/balkanites, etc; all of these would basically be in the core game.
    If instead we were to get a Feudal Japan culture, it should be a separate expansion: it would not make sense to develop so many cultures from the eurasian landmass/mediterranean basin, and then a far-eastern islander culture which is most famous for its civil war which happened at a much later date than Manor Lord'a timeframe.
