Red Dead Redemption takes a RX 480 to get 60 fps native (i think that is what recommeded is). Alan Wake 2 takes a RTX 3070 with preformance upscaling. According to tech power up that is a 687% increase in power. I certainly don't see why Alan Wake 2 is 687% harder to run intenally showing a quarter of the pixels.

Artificially bloated - no doubt some game studios sign contracts with Nvidia to have their games experimented with. With system requirements being raised on purpouse, for many effects that actually do minor improvement, but don't necessarily make the game more realistic - per contract Nvidia probably gives them a cut, from the GPU sales.

I'm studying 3 modeling now and I noticed that now in games in many games often they just don't use baking as often as it was done before and they just don't cut the number of polygons for higher quality but in fact if you don't really look hard at the model then you won't even notice that it's not geometry, but a baked map, if it's a well-baked map. I think they do it on the basis that it saves the resources of the team very much, because it is good to optimize the model, it is not a difficult process, but it is simply a very often time-consuming process. Therefore, they are probably betting on upscaling, directing resources in other directions. And in general, I think that now many game campaigns will simply bet on upscaling, without spending extra money on the optimization process. That's why there are so many vram requirements in games now, because the models are simply not optimized for quality, which in fact, if you don't look with a magnifying glass, you won't see it.

Vex, just a heads up. AMD invited many game developers to test AntiLag+ and many refused thinking nothing would go wrong. Vanguard did invite many devs to test beta drivers, and many blew the team off. Also, it doesn't mess with game files. All it does is hook the I/O for video and input and then retunes the windows system timer to lower the latency using frame generation.
Also, normal AntiLag works the same way as AntiLag+ but without the tighter timings to the timer for frame generation, and doesn't get a ban.

i mean NVidia has to be more expensive just because of the features you'll lose when chosing AMD.... but a 3060 Ti class GPU with 16GB for 500€ is ridiculous.
the 4070 Ti should be a 500€ GPU.

Bruh, I'm playing my old childhood Flash games and even games like Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition and Heroes ofight and Magic 3: Horn of The Abyss which just keep getting new stuff despite being older than me (they were both launched in 1999). I play these on my 2017 laptop Intel HD Graphics iGPU. Maybe that's just me because I pretty much like RTS and strategy games, but surely there are underrated old games and people simply need to look back a little and see the beauty of the old stuff.
The overhype over new games keeps the demand over new GPUs high regardless of how much they cost. DLSS, FSR and XeSS will be the new standard while I can chill while playing old games. The new games need a mass boycott to hammer companies into focusing on optimisation. This will make game engines also focus on optimisation and the prices for new GPUs would also come back to normal.

    Minimum specs for 1080p low quality: Ryzen 8950X3D or Intel 15900K + RTX 6090 Ti or Radeon 8900 XTX + 128 GB DDR5 + 900 GB SSD
    Recommended: uh... quantum computer!

  • @tamaalit4913

A few things I gotta say about Alan Wake 2 PC requirements:
    - If you need upscaling to move the game that's lazy optimization and no other excuse because an RX 6600 and RTX 2060 can move a game perfectly using UE5 without Ray Tracing.
    - They don't really surprise me because that's what you have to expect from now on, games are gonna be made to make them move in a series s at least and that console has a GPU equivalent to an RX 6600 or RTX 2060 and the recommended settings will be equivalent to a PS5 and Xbox series s, basically something between an RX 6700 XT and RX 6800XT.
Yes, Remedy did lazy optimization for Alan Wake 2, they could have done better but they don't really surprise me because Alan Wake 2 is a next gen game, it is not made for a PS4 or Xbox one, it's made to make it move in at least a series s.

Nvidia's Tegra processors are ARM-based in Nintendo Switch and Nvidia Shield, and we know a new Switch is in the works. Similarly, AMD might be exploring ARM for the next Xbox, as the recent Microsoft link showed they were considering ARM. That might be bad news for future PC ports.

    • @MissingNumb
      @MissingNumb Год назад +2

The "ARM's race" is fueled by investors. Won't make a dent in static gaming hardware. Portable gaming could see some innovation with Microsoft/Windows Arm projects, but they are mainly aimed at competing in the Chromebook market. Microsoft, like Nvidia mostly want to hedge on institutional clients versus general consumer. Apple is making ridiculous profit via their closed loop ecosystem and everyone is seeing the dollar signs and following. Unfortunately money and market moves guide the direction and progress of various goods and the general consumer has little power in this climate.

Its not fair to say that RISC CPU are bloat free.
What the do is that they execute every instruction in one cycle (well kind of sort of) but on the flip side they lack more complex instructions. This all over reduce the number of instruction making the ALU smaller, but it does make the code larger. That is not a huge problem. A other issue is that something that may take 3 or 4 instruction for a RISC CPU may only take 1 instruction for a CISC CPU. If the instruction is really good a CISC CPU can still process that instruction in 2 or maybe even 1 clock cycle. This makes it so CISC processors generally can run any code faster with the same core frequency. Back in the 90s due to how nodes work then RISC CPU often came with significantly higher core clock, but that is no longer the case.
For FPU instructions there really is not much diffrance between CISC and RISC. If you run FPU heavy code there is pretty much no diffrance. Actually you can use the same FPU on a RISC and CISC CPU. This is for example the case between Alpha RISC CPU and AMD k7 having the same FPU.
Also worth saying that while X87 code base is a specific FPU code base for x86 systems. Its very simple to convert FPU code. Its pretty much just a transfer table. This is diffrent from say converting ARM to x86 code that need to first be deassaembeled.

(except in lighting but like this in models and textures) I really don't understand how a game can be so demanding. If you don't know what to do, ask Kojima to give you an engine to use.
