10 years and going in the business and we have ultrasonic cleaned and saved all oem carbs but two. One because of internal spider webs the other for excessive rust and ethanol corrosion.
Just fixed one of these last week for my neighbor and got a free one today. It's missing the bag though, having a hard time finding one. Got a 1995 MTD 21" rear bag rear self propel with 1 lever height adjust, got that one running great already. I noticed my HRB215 is also missing the two springs for the self propel lever/cable connection for some reason.
I just fixed a Honda mower for a guy so I can relate to your term "sandwich" however your mower used studs screwed into the engine,I wish that one I did had been equipped like that, I had to deal with the sandwich as well as holding everything together but everything came out ok and the customer was happy
Hi Hank, great video. I have an issue with a 3 year old Craftsman M100 mower. It had been sputtering, cutting out. I completely dismantled and cleaned the old carb, still sputtered, so I bought a replacement carb and installed. Dumped gas, replaced, bought a new air filter. It still sputtered, sounds choked with the air filter on, but as soon as I take the filter off, it runs great, but blows a lot of white smoke. What else can I do to save her?
Is that an autochoke? Does it have the red primer in the filter box? It's possible that the choke linkage is stuck or the automatic choke at the muffler is bad.
@@hanksgarage_ Youre so sweet for getting back to me, thank you! Yes and yes on the auto choke. Im just tryn everything I can not to have to buy another mower, or havta pay to have someone fix it, lol. This is the longest I've ever had a mower...so Id like to keep my streak...but God knows I've put her and others thru it! I push mow my yard (almost 1 and 1/2 acres) and usually just buy a new el cheapo mower every other year. Do you have any videos showing how to replace the parts you were referring to? If not, I guess I'll havta do a search on the subject. Im pretty sure that it was one of your videos that guided me thru my carb rebuild, and you made it easy for me, so thank you, I appreciate you so much!❤️
@@hanksgarage_ Thank you. Ive been having to run my mower in short bursts, bc I really dont have another option. But, I have noticed that in the taller/ thicker the grass, the mower chokes and cuts out. After raising the blade height it does continue to run, albeit lots of oil is shooting out onto the filter. Does this tend to happen with a muffler thermostadt or linkage issue? Just tryn to learn what I can before embarking on another parts purchase.

Sweet job there.
great video!! love seeing equipment thats been left for dead getting brought back to life ready for someone else to get use out of!!!
Was wondering.. i got a HRB216. Was thinking i could put in a used HRX transmission...your input appreciated
Mower sounds great after your fix. Is that a plastic deck? If so it has lasted very well. Thanks for all the tips. Thanks for the videos.

It’s possible that linkage is not hooked up to the carb correctly. Or the thermostat on the muffler went bad, that does happen.

Oil is shooting out into the filter? How full is the oil?
for the linkage pull the choke plate and then the shaft and linkage will pull right out as one unit
Thank you!❤️
my pleasure@@LeasaHogan
I was betting on an aftermarket carb replacement for sure after seeing that carb when you took it off.
Mine was laying around for ten year not used cleaned carb fresh oil and gas started on one pull ...old Hondas are indestructible
I have had a few of these Hondas like this one. They are heavy. But most of them I have had to replace the carb
A carb clean didn’t do it right
I hate the Brittle deck on this model
Couldn’t believe how heavy it was for plastic.
