Paul and Stephan, you might find an episode of the old time radio show, LIGHTS OUT of interest regarding that HOLMES character/serial killer. It's called MARDER CASTLE and was directed by the legendary horror- radio creator, Arch Oboler. His shows are real classics somewhat more in what we'd call a more modern vein, and this particular episode is a rel classic/very creepy dramatization of what went on in that horror house, which was sort of a contemporary labyrinth.
Thanks for the stories. You made some of these ancient (and very labyrinthian) mythes really fun to listen to. I've often found the Minoan civilization one of the more fascinating cultures out of time. Their sculptures of bulls are really quite extraordinary. And the tale of the labyrinth one of the most haunting and creepy of the old tales from ancient times. Thanks guys!!

This conversation represents why I can't effectively socialize like the average bear. I want to talk about things like THIS! 🤩🤩🤩 Terrific episode, as usual! Thanks!

Guys, i love your Chinwag! As a Greek, i want to try to explain the etymology of Bucephalus.
The horse's name is a combination of the Greek words "bous," (its pronounced Voos in Greek (vookefalas) meaning ox and "kephalos," meaning head, trying to connect the giagantic head (like an ox) he had. See you on the next Chinwag!

When I went to middle school in NY in the late 60’s, every year in social studies they taught us about the cultures and history of Greece, Crete and Mesopotamia. I wish Paul could have taught those classes instead, curses and all! That would have been a lot more fun and interesting!

The Japanese Yokai are all over the country. They're Shinto spirit creatures, like The Kappa, etc. Shigeru Mizuki was a manga artist who recorded lots of them in a kind of realistic background rendering with cartoon figures. Wonderful looking stuff.

That Kaos show on Netflix heavily features the Minotaur myth, with some minor differences in what Paul stated. I could see Paul playing Dionysus quite well. They coulda had some wine winks in there.
