Oh hell no !! . That jig is a complete waste of time and one more piece of junk on the job . So much wrong .. This is how you frame a little wall like that . Cut plates to equal length , sister plates together temporarily and lay out 15-1/4 " set ahead . Strike a line on both plates at layoffs , Cut all studs the same length , Separate plates and lay in studs , Nail each end stud first , To top and bottom plate , The friction will keep the studs relatively tight , Go down each plate rotating if needed to visually square and nail with 2 -3" nails approx 5/8' to 3/4 " from top and bottom of plate into stud . Presto. .. No need to fidget with a jig and crawl on your knees .. There is a time to jig and there is time not to. This is not the time . Master Carpenter with 43 years of sawdust under my belt . Thank you .
Thats a $300 dollar framing gun it better have good punch! Max makes some of the best pneumatic nail guns ever! The stud layout tool is good for a diyer or weekend warrior but that would not last on a framing site too long. Reason being all studs arent perfect. I could see it being an issue when you come across a twisted stud or even 2 next to eachother.
If someone rolled up on my job with that thing . I'd throw it off the deck .
