Robert Moreno took on the role of head coach with the Spain national team in March 2019, after Luis Enrique left his position for personal reasons. Over the course of the next nine months, Moreno guided the team to comfortable qualification for Euro 2020.
Spain’s final qualifying game of the campaign was an impressive 5-0 home thrashing of Romania in which former Chelsea forward Álvaro Morata featured as the central striker in a front three also featuring former Arsenal playmaker Santi Cazorla and Villareal attacker Gerard Moreno.
In this exclusive Masterclass with The Coaches’ Voice, Moreno - who became head coach at French club Monaco in December 2019 - revisits the tactics and set-up that inspired such a straightforward win against resolute opponents he knew would sit deep and prioritise a defensive approach.

There was sharp distinction with how well Spain looked under Moreno compared to Enrique, and I fear that Spain may have let go of their best option to bring home silverware.
