    recorded from tv in 1990. transfered from VHS tape 31.3.2012 with the same VCR ! this machine is now 25 years old :o) well, I did not want to post this without the stereo hifi track ! there were many dropouts and I went through the whole music track to cover them up. sometimes it's not easy when a dropout is 0.7s long so you can still hear them during the interview as I did not bother to interpolate speech, too difficult.
    For all the Underworld MK1 fans out there, this concert seems not to be available anywhere else.
    enjoy !

    Wow... LOVE IT! Can't believe someone posted this. One of my favorite bands since the Freuer days. Have never really seen much in the way of live work from Karl, Rick, etc on RUclips. So many people in this world have NO clue the great stuff they're missing by never being fortunate enough to stumble on these guys. These guys should have been FAR bigger than they were! Thanks for uploading this!!!

    I know underworld since about 1995. Later I learned that they started as Synth Rock band. But since I found this video I fell in love with it. Especially in "Rubber Ball". I think now I heard this tune for about 200 times. And Underworld came much closer to my heart. I love their music from their first album till today.

    Thx so much for this upload. I zapped into this by chance back then. Didn't know the band, was hooked immediately and punched record on my cassette deck. Played the tape up and down for years, lost it, forgot about it. Remembered it years later, found that Underworld had become something else. Searched for a recording of this show from time to time with no luck. Now here it is, just as glorious as I remember it. You made my day, sir!

    Awesome upload! Knowing a group of rather famous 80's bands/singers who still tour (such a fucking great era) where they STILL don't behave then it's always a crack up seeing the 80's footage....it's a game of "guess what drug" lol.

    Farrrrrrk!!
    thank you.....
    i saw them out in the sticks in sydney in 88.. a room of about 100...
    I had the album UTR so knew all the songs... Most the 99 there, or so, were there for the only song they knew, introduced by the UTR single.
    I guarantee, after that concert, They bought the album...
    Im a Muso myself, and there a few concerts out go the very many, that were just more than special....
    When a band transfers their music to you... work backwards from the FOH.....
    not many concerts ive been to got it all to perfection....
    But UW1... Was/Is one of them...
    Not many bands ive seen, with a production , a Pub production, have transcended beyond my critical expectations....
    To put it in context..... one of the best live bands... wether a 100 capacity room, or a stadium, is Midnight oil.
    Tight, so tight... But loose...
    Energy, conviction.
    Ive heard them do songs, sometimes better than the studio recorded versions.... i shit you not....
    That gig.... I put Underworld in one of my top all time live gigs....
    Sad they didnt get more support from the industry and labels...... but UW2 was their "Fk You" to it.
    Like a dish best served cold........ I bet some labels are still waiting for their ice cream desert... while UW are still heating it in the microwave.......lol

    What they were then and what they are today 31 years later (2020)....I never really liked them when they were just another rock-band. A bad copy of tears for Fears. So great they changed path that brought them to become the greatest techno-number of the world.

    • @paultorbert6929
      @paultorbert6929 3 года назад

      this is Freur right before Rick and Karl dropped the band and really BECAME Underworld....... so that isnt a fair comparison over the 30+ years.... but there is no denying the drastic change in musical format..... even as Freur, they were nothing like TFF.......

    • @MegaFrydog
      @MegaFrydog 3 года назад +1

      I dont agree. Freur and Underworld Mk 1 were never just another rock group and were not TFF. I am not saying in a patronising way, but listen ...okay lyrically but that was the eighties and thats what sold records. Underworld as of today was always in their sound. The way Underworld compose their pieces are directly from the skill and pure talent they were then...as they are today They are unique and very very talented in every genre. They are a progression. This is Underworld Mk 1 The Funk within is always amongst them 😊

  • @fredfredburgerdude
    @fredfredburgerdude 12 лет назад

    Bit of trivia - Karl smashes that very guitar he's using into pieces, Paul Simonon style, at the Zap Club in 1994, one of Underworld mk2's earliest shows. He was described as later sitting in a chair, cradling his poor broken guitar, murmuring repeatedly "I don't know what comes over me..."

      А мне тоже больше нравится их ранние альбомы конца 80-х, люблю этот жанр музыки и похожие по звучанию коллективы тех лет - такие как INXS и Information Society. Хотя мне их музыка 90-х тоже нравится, я как раз начал слушать Underworld с тех пор как посмотрел их концерт 1999 года. В 90-е группы со звучанием популярным для 80-х встали вдруг ненужными, поэтому многие коллективы из рок-музыки стали переходить в электронную музыку, то же самое можно сказать о таких популярных на рейв-сцене в начале 90-х группах как The Shamen и Sunscreem, которые ранее играли рок-музыку.
